Tarja has operatic music education, she also has her classical concerts with symphonic orchestra where she performing also classical songs and opera arias. Like she said many times, rock/metal music and classical/operatic music are parts of her life and she love them both. I’ve not listened to all her nightwish songs, but the ones I heard she wasn’t low in her register. It’s why it took me a minute to warm up to her because I couldn’t understand a word she was singing 😂 like you said she’s got a lot more freedom to do whatever she wants now.
Tarja has greats achievements and songs in her solo career. Not only on hard rock styles but in classical as well. She has 15 years of career. Try to watch In for a Kill or Into the Sun from Act 1 dvd, or Undertaken from Act 2 or Swanheart, O mio Bambino Caro, Herr Marquis and The Reign from Beauty and The Beat dvd, and of course hundreds of life performance all over the world. You can like more or less, whats undeniable that she is unique. Nobody nowadays can perform a rock tour for 3 months and 3 weeks later a classical lyric tour for 2 months at the highest level.

After that 1996 she went to Sibelius Academy, university level music school in Finland to study church singing. Then year 2000 she went to Germany, Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe, to study lied singing.
You're right, she hasn't sung in opera plays. Opera arias are part of her education but it never was her goal to be in opera. She sung at least Verdi, Wagner and Puccini in Savonlinna Opera festivals (which plays real operas) in 2000, 2006 and 2011 but those to my knowledge weren't part of actual opera plays. She hasn't studied full opera plays, opera arias are just part of her classical tours (and in her albums).

Its done in 3s like the waltzes he would normally right. That is real opera for an all ages show mixing, classical, rock, opera to expose an audience to a wide variety of musical genres.

Well, she can wear jeans or leather pants and leather jacket on stage too: not only fairy princess, there's this rock babe side of her too on stage. You're right, she does have a lot heavier songs in her solo career than most of her Nightwish era, but she also continues with classical and Christmas music genres (both albums and tours) alongside metal genre. And while singing metal, she uses more contemporary style even if she keeps classical vocals voice technique, I'd say it's continuation to her NW "Century Child" and "Once" albums style singing, and a separation to her early Nightwish style more bel canto singing.

She is #21 most sucussful of all time as a singer and second most sucessful composer besides Tuomas. You have to check out Seven Spires new composer/singer like Tarja she is big Tarja fan as well, good track by them is The Unforgotten Name. She has been training vocally for 14 years in every style imaginable and 8 years in Classical Music Composition think she has masters in that as far as I could find anyway.
'Character' is a great way to describe the treatment that Tarja brings. I would LOVE to see her direct the mosh ... if she commanded the crowd to part in the middle with that voice....tsunami !! I really enjoyed the call/response she was doing with the echo/filter towards the end. I know the band tried to make sonic 'room' for the echo to be heard, but like any repeated part, the thing that makes the altered freq-response interesting also makes it more 'lost in the wash' of guitars and synths. That's a great thing about playing with a symphony, certain instruments can be pulled back/out and allow the vocalist to remain the focal point. Princess? I don't think Tarja can help but look like a princess. Some women must carry the 'curse' of beauty. For me it's those eyes. I am a deer transfixed by the tigress' gaze.... but that's my problem. There is a Night wish DVD from 2001 the Wishmaster Tour it's called From Wishes to Eternity ok two song SwanHeart and the Kinslayer Marco was not in the band yet he joined the following year but get that Night wish /Tarja journey early and it's a great show they played that night and also I believe her first official video with the band the song Sleeping Sun and the song Two for Tragedy off the Wishmaster album I think are vocally one of her best enjoy these Jewels and watch and enjoy the Tarja /Night wish journey from it's beggings. No Tarja no Nightwish it's just so much she contributed to the music then just her voice as well as a classically-trained composer as well. Half of her costume is gone used to get mosh pits going lol she is wicked in general, she has and does as well as live theatre she tours solo as well as with whatever gig she has on the side. No not anymore old Nightwish yes and Tarja is the mosh pits stopped with her she gets them going and new singers do not. Yeah, how does she jump around in heels and with insane high notes that feel like she should be having full body support Tarja and Sharon Den Adele are great frontwomen for that getting crowd flowing and moving.

I know the band tried to make sonic 'room' for the echo to be heard, but like any repeated part, the thing that makes the altered freq-response interesting also makes it more 'lost in the wash' of guitars and synths. That's a great thing about playing with a symphony, certain instruments can be pulled back/out and allow the vocalist to remain the focal point.

In Nightwish she was the frontwoamn, yes, but just the female singer.. after Nigtjhwish she bacame more alive on stage, jumping arund, running asround, and in insanely high heels, splitsville was the best for both.. now we have her released, and Nightwish aswell :D :D About the high heeels, she had a chat with Floor about them, being moms now, and running around in high heels.. damaging their knees... Tarja is a beast !!!! awesome voice, she is awesome operatic, not so great in belting, but what a Duracell bunny, running and singing !!!!

She indeed has performed professionally opera with orchestra, she has said in several interviews that she has received classical training, so what you see from her is real. If you want to know her you should check her solo career in metal and classical opera, i see in the comments many ppl suggesting swanheart you should check her rendition of this song with orchestra, is from a series of concerts called Beauty and the beat

There is a Night wish DVD from 2001 the Wishmaster Tour it's called From Wishes to Eternity ok two song SwanHeart and the Kinslayer Marco was not in the band yet he joined the following year but get that Night wish /Tarja journey early and it's a great show they played that night and also I believe her first official video with the band the song Sleeping Sun and the song Two for Tragedy off the Wishmaster album I think are vocally one of her best enjoy these Jewels and watch and enjoy the Tarja /Night wish journey from it's beggings. No Tarja no Nightwish it's just so much she contributed to the music then just her voice as well as a classically-trained composer as well. Half of her costume is gone used to get mosh pits going lol she is wicked in general, she has and does as well as live theatre she tours solo as well as with whatever gig she has on the side. No not anymore old Nightwish yes and Tarja is the mosh pits stopped with her she gets them going and new singers do not. Yeah, how does she jump around in heels and with insane high notes that feel like she should be having full body support Tarja and Sharon Den Adele are great frontwomen for that getting crowd flowing and moving.
Many of Tarja's songs get red flag after uploading them, so there might be some troubles...

Great voice, great looking woman, but unfortunately her music doesn't cut it for me.
Beauty of music, plenty of us who it does, plenty of wonderful artists who you will enjoy. No body ( yet) forcing anyone to listen.

@@plantifulalexandra True. I agree. She never quite hit the heights like she did with Nightwish. Holopanien is a genius songwriter and she hasn't quite met his expectations. Incredible voice though as well.
