Harry, great to see you back on form, & never change. The ship looks like a Beaut & with all the extras will be fantastic build. Can’t wait. You must be doing something right with all those medals 🏅 to polish. 😁
Harry, I got the photo-etch, the guns, the masts and extra decals but not the wooden deck for mine but, I am hoping to use that awesome technique you showed on how to make convincing decks with those Life Colour paints. Was very impressed with what you did them those. Looking forward to the rest of the videos in your Varyag build. 👍
Love this kit HH. Yes, the Russian Letters do spell out "Varyag." Russian "B" is the english sound "v"..etc. You nailed it. : ) This looks like a fabulous kit... looking forward to seeing this one work it's way through the HH waffle-buildy-process.
Damn you Harry you old wombat ! I got the ship bug and in 2007 I picked up a couple of Zeveda kits. One was the Potemkin and I don't remember the name of the other. But let's just say that they weren't quite the same quality as your kit. They both needed everything you have gotten but it wasn't available at that time ! It's what I deserve for looking at a masterpiece model and thinking I could do the same even though I don't build ships! I do now but my expirations have changed. Good luck Harry on your build I can't wait to see it!
Hi Harry. Sorry to hear that you never got round to finishing your USS Arizona kit. I thought your video on that build of how to apply photo etched parts was one of the best I’ve seen.
This looks like a nice kit Harry. I'm glad you liked my suggestion about the "more waffle" but I think you are selling yourself short at 25%! I'm not sure about how you pronounce Varyag, but I have trouble saying Zvezda too, those Russian names can be quite difficult. Keep up the good work, I'm glad you are feeling better. By the way, what part of Oz are you at? I heard you mention Brisbane on one of your vids. I live in Bendigo, but am a proud Queenslander originally from Cairns.
Thanks Tim, more waffle eh? I’m up on tne Sunshine Coast north of Brissy... I’ve worked in Cairns many times, bloody hot and sticky! Did some live shows with the Theatre in the city back in the 80’s and helped to create a GPS triggered audio-visual for Karana Rail last decade..
Great to see you back and swimming again....annoyingly tempted to get this beautiful ship as well, need to as my ancestors were those vikings....norsemen! Seeing that you can build as Russian or Japanese ship, shouldn't it be coming with a bottle of vodka or sake, for medical purposes of course! 😉 Think that I have a sniff around that Sevastopol while I'm at it....bollocks....your fault! 😉😄😂
Good luck! It's one of the best kits of a 1900 cruiser with a very cheap Price (21 €). Unfortunately it was so far not easy to get the relevant photoetched parts for this model. (at least in Germany)
The Wood Hunter veneer deck comes with photo etch or Eduard make a comprehensive set for this kit... I felt the plastic was good enough so will only add the wood deck, plus some PE rails and ladders which came with the Wood Hunter package.
Just ordered this model from zvezda. Without brass guns, with only some rigging from ammo mig and PE railings form aber. Will try to make her in World of warships version :)
I m still haunted by a 'BISMARK' i built when about 9.I didnt have any dark red paint,so i stole some red gloss from shed and mixed it with black humbrol enamel.Would it dry?its probably in a landfill somewhere still tacky.
Hi, would You suggest this build for a beginner (with a little experience, especially in painting details)? Also, where did you find the wooden bridge?? its really nice!
It’s an easy build, which fits well. I show that in the full playlist of videos. You can buy the wood veneer deck from many online model stores or eBay. So anyone with a little experience building models, and maybe a small ship, should have no trouble putting it together right out of the box.
It is pronounced Varyag in Russian. The "B" in Cyrillic is pronounced like a "V" in English. "P" is an "R" the backwards "R" is "ya" and the backwards 7 looking letter is a "G". Apparently Russians say cruiser more like "cryeiser" by the spelling. I've got a Ural motorcycle with the license plate "KPY3EP" because I guessed that's how Russians spelled cruiser. Those Cyrillic letters correspond to CRUZYER in English. I guess I guessed wrong, but at least I had all letters that I could use on a plate. There's no backwards N with a little mark above it available...
On the Front of the Instructions is the cusier name called in kerylic lethers and in latein latter its exactly the same pronounciation accept in a other language
Danke!
Super Thanks Patrick… much appreciated
Harry, great to see you back on form, & never change. The ship looks like a Beaut & with all the extras will be fantastic build. Can’t wait. You must be doing something right with all those medals 🏅 to polish. 😁
Thanks Mark... very much looking forward to building this ship

Those effects with Lifecolor Liquid Pigments were on wood veneer decks. Although the same trick can be achieved on plastic if you thin your paint.
Can't wait to see you build the kit.will have to try a ship never made a ship.
Just like tanks.. but no track links :)

And don't forget the medals! It’s a trifecta!
Nice kit! I might just have to get me one for Christmas!
I think it’s their best ship model.

Thanks Ennis... yes it’s surprisingly good for Zvezda. Lets hope the build goes well too.
I love the wood decking as it really brings the model to life
Wait until you see what I did to the deck later on...
Harry Houdini Models you’re bedtime viewing for me fella, so I won’t skip straight to the decking 😁😁😁

Bask waves a paw then falls asleep..
I‘ll settle for that, thanks Bask.
Good luck with the Model - I hope the next ship you decide to do is the ' Aoshima ' 1/350 Japanese IJN Heavy Cruiser !
Thank you... Yes the Myoko is one on top of my list.. had been searching for the PE set it needed... finally found it.
Hi Harry. Sorry to hear that you never got round to finishing your USS Arizona kit. I thought your video on that build of how to apply photo etched parts was one of the best I’ve seen.
Thanks Peter... high praise indeed. I’ve covered a lot of other techniques with the Varyag
A ship again? Better you than me, hahaha! That'll be interesting again. :)
I sense a miniscule amount of scepticism?
No, not at all. Only if I had to build her. :)
Really cool.
Thanks Clayton

Should come up fine... the kit is very nice out of the box... mine was nearly finished until the cat knocked it off the bookcase
@@HarryHoudiniModels OUCH! So probably the cat is a revolutionist, attacking the Tzars warship :)
She is now an enemy of the State and banned from the Hobby Room

Yes, I think we all have horror stories from our youth... I remember trying housepaint and even moms nail varnish with disastrous results
