    Way back yonder we built one. We used some brake pads in the place that you're using the plywood. That part worked very well. It slid well over the brake pads without making any sounds. Ours was built way too low and the tires got into a couple of vehicles being towed when we let others borrow it. That turned out to be the downfall of our tow dolly. DON'T LET OTHERS BORROW IT!!!!! It's not being selfish , it's just being wise. Unless it's a person you can totally trust.

      I agree. I stopped loaning stuff for that reason. More often than not, things are returned damaged. Common sense is not common. Thanks for watching. DG

      My daughters live down around Savannah. When I go down I work on outboard engines , generators , lawn equipment , n such. There is a neighbor that loans his trailer to us while there. His kid walked out n told us that his dad liked for me to borrow their stuff. I asked why , he said that I always fixed everything up when I came over.

      @@coburnlowman I think we're cut from the same cloth. I make it a point to return things in better condition than when I borrowed them. DG

    1 error that you will be correcting, depending on how much use . Is you should have added a tube and grease sert to your pivot area. What will happen is the weight will cause your bolt to wear (oblong ) your tube, and perhaps shear the bolt.

      That's a good point. I'm assuming you meant zerk fitting. This trailer gets very little use but I will grease the bolt. It is a 1" grade 8 bolt so it most likely would be a problem with the holes. This trailer was engineered as I built it so some details were overlooked. Thanks for watching and commenting. DG

    If the dollies are built strong but doesn't pivot all is well right I'm going to be going back over it but it was a very simple but stout build was just wondering how big of a deal it was without pivot point thanks

      If the dolly doesn't pivot, it puts a lot of stress on the tongue and on the front end suspension of the vehicle being towed. A pivot point relieves the stress that is generated when you have a trailer that has two rows of wheels that are far apart. The steering wheel turning, doesn't relieve this pressure. Read the comments from the other videos of the build. I go into more details there. DG

    The plywood is a good idea. You could paint it with oil based paint and then screw thin plastic to the surface.

      @deegee8032  Год назад

      I thought about that, but the plastic needs to be thick enough to allow the screw head to hold it firmly in place against a lot of pressure and stress. I haven't changed it over yet. Thanks for watching. DG
