This week we look for and find homesites that belong to people who nobody remember. We metal detect for what they may have left behind to figure out who they were.
Hey guys, some nice finds this time around, Shawn that was a pretty clean IHP for being that old, I think that Blue striped object might have been a Barrett of sorts for a Woman/girls hair, just a thought. Anyway, great video... Happy Treasure Hunting!!!
Shawn, you mentioned that people might look at you funny for being excited about finding an old spoon. That says a lot about the hobby and why so many channels have small subscriber numbers. Even though as detectorists our number is small, we make up for it with passion. You both had excellent finds today, representative of the time period when people were doing things on that site.
Yep! I’m thrilled when I find a spoon! lol. A lot of non detectorists think I’m silly for being excited about it. That spoon holds its own story. It fed the mouths of countless people. Became a toy for a child whose family couldn’t afford toys of that time. Well, I’ll continue to display the spoons I find regardless. 😁😁
I just love your videos I love the story telling you both do such a great job, love all the great finds and how you take such great care of them, can't wait for the next video take care and stay safe lots of love from West Virginia ❤️🙂
I have a late 1700s-early 1800s site I hit. No info whatsoever that I can find of anyone living there. Lots of good things come out of the ground. I hit another site that was mid 1800s to early 1900s well documented etc. I found an arsenal of shotgun stamps and one button. Amazing how that works.
Thanks. I think we both have a way of telling stories. Jerry’s earlier videos blow my mind with his story telling. Not sure if you watched the episode with the tombstone in the thumbnail but that one always got me!
Awesome adventure today, Shawn that was a beautiful 1864 Indian, cool looking button and a jingle bell. Jerrys sweet barrel tap for his bunghole😂, the gas valve, harmonica reed and watch pieces. Happy Easter guys.
“Shove it in the old bunghole”…..I about lost it when I saw that clip! Hahahaha. Jerry didn’t even miss a beat. I wouldn’t have been able to say it with a straight face. 😂 Happy Easter to all you guys too!
That was amazing, Shawn & Jerry!!!!!!! It's not only amazing to see those incredible relics come out of the ground in the middle of nowhere but hearing the back story & envisioning that little boy digging in the yard with that spoon, makes it a very special experience. That surface find is amazing, Shawn, what is that 200 yrs old?😳That was an amazing repel Jerry 😳 Thank you both for all your hard work making these extraordinary videos 💖💖
I just subscribed to your channel pretty cool stuff you find . I know of a place that you should check out if you haven't already. In some of the videos you say your from western pa. I'm from about 65 miles east of Pittsburgh. Originally. If your interested in the place I'd like to see you metal detect let me know and I'd be happy to tell you. It's a old town that no longer exists.
Knocked it out of the park once again. Keep up the great work. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks James!
Amazing video, love how you tie the past to the relics found. You both are a joy to watch.👍👏😀
Awesome hunts your videos rock God Bless and happy dirt fishin…Virgil
Always intersting finds, and a good time. Thanks!
Thanks. Never know what’s gonna pop out of the ground.

Thanks! It’s a good thought about the Barrett. Happy Hunting Dan!
Great show. You guys really got a workout today! Nice finds
Well….Jerry did. lol I walked a mostly flat area through the woods for a half a mile. 😁

Thanks William. Appreciate it!

Thanks Trish. We truly appreciate those kind words. Makes us want to work even harder at our videos.
Great adventures and finds fellas, boy Jerry, you were committed on that hike!!
Yea, I was really hoping to find the first site in the swamp. That’s how it goes though

Yep! Sometimes it makes no sense. But nice job writing a story for the earlier homesites family.
Another awesome video Shawn and Jerry!!
Thanks Dianna. We appreciate that.
Love your videos. I wish they would longer.
Thanks Jeff. We do too. It all hinges on what we find in the ground at these sites.
Your stories give me chills, Shawn & Jerry!!! Watching now... 💖💖
Yay Mona!!
Intro was pretty cool. Someone writes very well.

You guys are producing top notch episodes. Thanks for all the hard work.
That’s appreciated. Thank you!
Lost History is the real reason I love metal detecting !
Same here Dan! Thanks for watching!
Jerry, that thing you found that was hinged is the lid you would flip up to oil something
Yea I can see that being that. Some people guessed a book lock hinge.
There are ancestors out there, keep digging!😊
Absolutely. We need to write their stories!
Nice video, I always enjoy the layout of the land and the history behind it y’all bring to your videos.
Thanks for watching

Thanks Mona! It baffles me when items are found on the surface. I’ve found crotal bells on the surface before!
another great video, g'day from Perth Western Australia
Thanks! It’s great to see we have support from so far away!
Love it
Thanks Jay!
The blue striped piece could be a female's hair bow/barrette.
Someone else identified it as that too. I’d say you’re correct. Thanks! 😁
12:14 I think may be a book latch.
I was thinking the same thing. Diaries often had them
Now that you say that I think you may be right. Thank you!
Great history
Best part about metal detecting!
The brass gas valve should have a patent date on it somewhere.
We will have to check and see. I know normally they are from the turn of the century (1900) or so. Which wouldn’t make sense for that site.
The little hinge could have been on a little wooden box~like a jewelry box. Just a guess.
Thanks Jeanne! That’s a really good guess. It very well could be. Wonder what that little box held? Wish we knew!
Could the little hinge thing be a fastener for hosery? Like to hold up women's stockings?
Anything is possible!
The hinged thingie is a latch for an old suitcase, there would have been another devise that would unlock it
Thank! We had a couple guesses similar to this! Thanks for the info!
Still the best metal detectors going
Not sure if you mean the Deus2 or us two. But I’m hoping you’re talking about the machines. Haha!
Jerry I think that's a lid latch
I believe you’re correct. 😁
Where are you getting lidar information?
Google search HILLSHADE maps of your area. There is a USGS map that you can use. Take a bit to get used to but works well. Thanks for watching!
You guys are the best not the metal detector
Thanks! We do have some tough competition out there!

Pretty cool! You can always email us at detectingpa@gmail.com with any info. Thanks for watching!
Early pants snap maybe?
Some people are saying possibly a book clasp. Hard to really say for sure.
