The thing for me is, that the pixel and Samsung make photography fun or experimental. The pixel has given me that push into getting a professional camera and given me more ideas what to do with a camera. Since I use an iPhone for work it’s honestly not inspired me to go take pictures or taken more than just snapshots.

I love my Pixel 7 Pro. It excels in every aspect except Portrait shots. Those come up wayyyy oversharpened and unnatural and I wish there were a slider where we could play with the intensity of this setting or maybe they could dial it down via an update. Very interesting Ben, thank you for the comparison. I own a 15 Pro Max and Pixel 7 Pro and recently used them both for photo/video shoots (Real estate and family stuff). For photo, I MUCH prefer Pixels white balance. That saves tons of real world editing time. But being capped to 12 megapixels is a hindrance for pro work (not for family photos).
For video I find iPhone stabilization a bit more reliable and smooth. But the iPhone really starts to shine in dim lighting. The Pixel main lens gets a bit grainy in video with low light. But the Pixel ultrawide has a TON of grain in dim light.
    My breakdown comparison:
    iPhone Strengths
    - Video stabilization
    - 2X portraits (WAY better than Pixels horrendous digital crop)
    - Significantly better wide angle in dim and low light (both photo and video)
    - Quick editing the photos is significantly faster, Google's photo editor is annoyingly slow at times
    - Excellent, reliable 3rd party camera apps that are very useful (I enjoy Moment Pro, but there's also Halide, Spark and Blackmagic)
    - Portrait video on iPhone is perfectly fine for non-professional work now. Pixels... haha, no.
    - Photographic styles help "tweak" your base photo - I make mine slightly cooler
    - 24mp images are now standard.
    - 48mp RAW images are now professional quality in many situations when taken from the main lens. Truly remarkable. Pixel 7 Pro still limits its RAW output to 12mp, which is a bummer.
    - Recording directly to an external SSD is amazing (although we wouldn't need it if they hadn't taken away micro SD slots to begin with...)
    Pixel Strengths
    - White balance is exceptional on the pixel. Apparently Google is adding a new smarter white balance with Pixel 8, thus the gap will widen even more.
    - Likewise, the skin tones are way more natural on Pixel in 8/10 situations. I can't stand iPhone selfie camera turning my family's faces into pink/orange pumpkins.
    - I prefer the more “neutral” style the Pixel has. Less unnatural over-sharpening than the iPhone.
    - Access to settings right within the camera app. Seriously useful. I hear more Pro controls are coming to Pixel 8 Pro.
    - I found the 5x to be consistently better in most ways, even though Apple is using its fancy tetra-prism.
    - Pixels editor has a lot more fun/unique tools like magic eraser, face unblur (even though it doesn't feel well optimized).
    - File management. Not a sexy feature, but it's so much better to use your phone like a USB drive when you need to.
TLDR: If you're a professional who makes money using these tools for photo/video, then the iPhone still wins. However, for a hobbyist, budding photographer, and a person who wants the most fun camera. I think Pixel has the edge now.

Okay so if you like to zoom in definitely get yourself the S23 Ultra. And if you care too much about being the green bubble in text messages, then get the iPhone. The Pixel 7 Pro is still the champion of still images. The color rendering just can't be beaten. Most balance natural shots with the best color reproduction. I can only imagine how good the Pixel 8 Pro will be.

Hey am seeing taking photos of face gives darker image when compared to my S22 Ultra. Shocking to see Pro max gives this result for a hefty price. Ur thoughts please. Especially face looks darker even though for a white skin

i really like how the tele photo of s23 really works when he tries to capture the "moth" the focusing was really awesome.
iphone is still the best when it comes to video recording, specially that action mode so amazing!

At 4:46 you can see that video on the Pixel looks too orangey, and at 5:07 you can see how much digital sharpening is happening on the Pixel.

This guy just love the zoom, overexposed, and saturated photo. That’s why he picked s23 on photography.
But for me pixel is the best for photography.
iphone for videography. Ang samsung only wins on zoom photography.

    • @andyH_England

I agree. I have S23U and Pixel 7 Pro, and if I just took one out for the day, it would be the Pixel, as I rarely shoot 10X photos or videos. Obviously, I would choose that for video if I had an iPhone 15PM. It was clearly the best there, but the Pixel 8 Pro may give it a run for its money next week.
Bearing in mind the Pixel is a year old and costs around half-price (deals) then the Pixel is the winner for me.

Yeah.. Many comparisons even have the stock vivid-mode on the display. So the colors is unrealistic and just plainly wrong, when looked at directly on the phone.

This guy is biased towards Samsung on the get go with vibrant photos. He does not know that photography is based on natural, realistic color and detail. I am a semi taught photographer with a website that sells photos.

Why is no one doing basic camera movement on video? Pan or tilt shouldn't be this hard. That is an important part of video quality. This was the biggest difference between classic video cameras and DSLR cameras. An important point in terms of measuring video quality on smartphones. If there is too much shaking during such movements, this is a serious defect. These also need to be compared.

About the audio if you prefer the no background sound you choose the android phones but if you want to hear the background noise choose iphone.. i like how the iphone didnt do the noise cancelation coz it ruins the quality of the audio.. it sound like an allien or u r in under water

*The HDR in Pixel's video is kinda impressive tbh.*
The only area that Pixel needs improvement is in still Portraits and detail rendition in videos.

It's interesting as DXOMark ranks the iPhone 14 Pro Max above the S23U. Not my experience with the S23U and my wife using the iPhone 14 Pro Max. They've now ranked the iPhone 15 Pro Max second behind the Huawei P60 Pro. Somehow, that doesn't seem right.

I don't know, had a 13 promax and now have the S23 ultra, both amazing phones. But there's something about the pixel 7 pro that really makes their shots look so crisp and natural. Can't go wrong with any of these.

  • @joseteixeira5900
    @joseteixeira5900 8 месяцев назад +2

Not so straight. Samsung uses digital processing on 10x, not natural optical zoom. Then, it uses the iillusion of “crisp” display to show the photo. Iphpne usually uses a natural color, not oversaturated color, giving you the impression of a “good” photo
