Great comparison. I own the X and the Mk3. I really just depends on how I feel any given day. Both are capable of fire!
I just like that I can sit on the couch with my live 2 and make beats all day
That portability is super clutch
Super jelly, I bought the MPC - one. I can’t return because it comes with software. Even if I’ve never used it. It eats a part of my soul when I play it.
Much appreciated. That definitely helped me out. I have the Live 2. But have been having some difficulty learning how to find my way through the system. The Plus just seems to be more intuitive. But the Live is clearly better supported with updates and what not. Keep up the good work. 👊🏾
MPC Live 2 ❤
Side by side, Sweet demo
This is a great video!!! Thanks for posting this needed comparison!
Enjoyed the video
Question whats that sample?
I prefer machine workflow and MPC‘s flexibility, (such as file management and Coard Progression) I have both also I just sold my live ii but I still have my MPC XSE and I also have a machine plus. I sold my live ii and was planning to sell my machine plus with the intent to get to push 3 but I don’t know anymore
How does the chord progression work on the MPC vs Maschine?
@@magnuseriksson8081 Sorry for the super late response. This is one of the main pros of MPC. Maschine does not have a "progressions mode" yet they just provide chords that you can create a progressions with... Its not as creative because the Chords are all locked in to whatever mode you're in (Dorian, Natural minor, and so on)
@@marclemar Ahhh I kind of get it even though my music theory is non existent
I own both. Just got the mk3 this year for me is about learning new DAW and hardware
I think both are really good peace of equipment
The good thing of mpc you can use as stand alone with no pc. And the good thing of maschine is that you can use all types of virtual instruments and all types of plug ins to distort any sample and when you get use to
The work flo of maschine its very easy to use. I don't sample to much i like building beats from scratch. And with a mpc beats are pretty much done. All you have to do is sample. And distort the sample to make it unique. Now the down side of maschine is that you have to have a very good computer with a lot of memory If not it will start crashing on you.
For the Maschine, you must be referring to a really complex session because I have a 2014 MacBook pro with 8GB's of RAM and it's working just fine. I only had to adjust the file handling settings.
Nice.. I have the MPC X and I’m thinking bout getting the MK3.. I want to run my tracks out the MK3 into The MPC.. What cables would I need to do that and what’s the process of making that work?
You'd just need 2 TS or TRS cables to connect to the MK3's line out to one of the MPC's Line ins....and that's it really.
Thanks!!!
I also think the MK3 needs to be selected as your audio interface on your PC for its onboard I/O to be used.
Gratitude... MPC sound wise, had dat edge ❤
Nice video. Thank you for posting. What would you recommend for a beginner wanting to get into making boom bap sample based beat making? MPC Live 2 or Machine MK3?
I would go with the MPC Live 2 for your scenario. It really focuses on that style of music. To me, the Maschine has so many sounds and expansions by default that you would, in a way, be wasting your money to get one and not plan to really use all of the VST's as that is it's main strength vs the MPC Live 2 which in my opinion is a portable super sampling box.
@@qmakesbeatz Thank you for your advice.
Thanks for this.
No problem at all. Thanks for watching.
Nice comparison!!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Are you using ableton sync between them?
Nah, I'm just outputting the audio to the same mixer.
You’re kind of reading my mind cause I have a One but I’ve been wondering about the maschine workflow.
Thus far with sampling, I haven't found something I can do in one, but not the other. Both are great tools.
The Machine Has A Better Workflow and It Has An Arranger... The MPC, Especially The LIVE 2 Has The Touchscreen And Less Buttons, So Menu Jumping Is More Likely. However The MPC's Inspires One To Be More Creative and More Eger To Bang On Dem PADS...It Compels You To Be Flexible... To Me It's An INSTRUMENT, The Machine Is More Like A Computer.
@@babysunn2 true true. Thank you for the feedback. I love the MPC really do, just was always curious about the Maschine. Looks beautiful but the screen layout is kind of strange to my brain type…. I use the One, an arturia keyboard and ableton and it’s feeling like the perfect combo right now. I might throw in an SP404 MK2 only to perform my beats with effects more organically on the fly, and cut and paste everything together in ableton Thanks again
@@billiedoesbeats Dope ! Similar Setup, I'm On FL... After I Stem My Wav's to FL, I Like That Neutron 4 On Most Tracks To Mixdown, You Can Keep Ah Lot Of Your Desired Character's In The Mix That Way, Then I Ozone Master It In Master Buss Tree Then Export Out 48K.
have you tried to integrate both of them?
I've done some resampling maschine instruments into the MPC. It works decently but mostly I use them separately.
No time stretching?
2 great machines
dope Display
Shot horizontally:)
the machine sound more retro mpc sound more modern but the mpc is a live sound not classic, now the mpc 1 might sound retro , dang the machine sound better but like you say they not the same instruments
Then when your done you can do nothing with it on mpc since they refuse to add any sort of song arranger etc.
I'm not sure what you mean - the MPC does have the "Song" mode where you can sequence which of your already-built patterns you want to play, how many times they should repeat each, etc. What am I missing?
scenes, @@AirAdam13
MPC has more of elastic groove
MPCs are always easier to sample on. The other competitors go out of their way to make it complicated. MPC = pad tap sampling bliss!
Sampling on the maschine is as easy as record, tap pads out, done. If that’s complicated to you then you got some real problems
tune and warping are not the samething
I can agree. It's just a demonstration of getting the same sound out of each tool.
What warping has less artefacts?
@@qmakesbeatz ok but you are doing a comparsion video! Thats mis-leading.. its not a big thing..
@@larrytan73 I could've loaded the audio module in maschine to do a more literal exact comparison, but as I mentioned with the drum kits I just did what came naturally to generate effectively the same result. Now if I messed around with the tempo of the project then that aspect would've been a more important point.
I Might Be Bias Because I Own The LIVE 2... Machine Is Too Clean...Like Radio Clean and Thee MPC Sound Like A Jazz Club Sound, More Of A Natural Tone... Plus A Battery And A Speaker... NO WAY I'M Disappointed With My Choice. ✌🏽😎
As long as the tool is serving you well it's all good.
Very easy to dirty stuff up, much harder to make em clean, or to choose your dirt if its already dirty
@@mycosys Not Anymore... Since i Own Izotope Product's Ozone 11, Nectar4, And Alike. It's Merger With Native Instrument Has Patched Me In With The Capacity To Load N.I. Sounds And Also Its Virtual Instruments, Thanks To Guitar Rig7 I Now Have THE POWER to Get Any Sound.😁
NI has better work flow akai has better elastic sound
