Nice tips! If you hold Menu and then press one of the pads it will lead you to corresponding page without pressing the touchscreen. For example Menu + Pad14 leads you to Program Edit
One note for the delete tip: Make sure you tap the gear icon on the far right to open browser options and uncheck the "Hide project data folders" and delete the project data folder with the same name also. Otherwise you will be only be deleting the xpj file and leaving all the project data files on your drive using up valuable space.
Excellent tips and enjoying others contributions. Double tapping Menu brings up the browser. Many know this but don't forget to try the Vintage Modes by Menu>Gear icon>General and choose from MPC3000 (thiccness/punch), MPC60 (heavy thicc/punch), SP1200 (slightgrit/grain), SP1200 RING (prob wont use). I use MPC3000 mostly, nice subtle warmth.
@@lofi_soul_jazz great dude! You just gotta stick with it at first. And use it a lot if you don’t like it. Things will grow on you and you’ll get good with the workflow

The resample thing is doope. As someone who gets really deep into fx stacking I’m relieved to know I can max out the effects and quickly print it to keep going
Oh snap, this is awesome some. Thank you 🙏 I am also looking for a quick work a round for: - quick access to song mode - while playing in song mode and you want to edit the sequence by returning to main, the sequence will keep replayin for you to edit. After that it is (for what i know) is impossible to return to song mode and continue the where you left off. You must hit stop and redo.
Is there a video of you explaining what the chord mode can do and how to put other instruments in the right key.? Or what stock synth/instruments/vst the mpc live have? Or is it possible to buy now vst or fx? Thanks for sharing.
As far as I know their isn't a plug in (in standalone) to be able to find the key of a sample. Akai should def include something like it tho, I mean it's a sampler lol . Their is no support for aftermarket plug ins in stand alone, that's a huge huge request from the MPC community be able to run plugins in stand alone. I think it requires programmers specifically for the MPC's and idk if that would ever happen unless Akai pays them.
I have a beats I don't like folder. After 2 or 3 months, I go through it...I change bpm's, even sounds/instruments. I've taken a drum/percussion pattern and added it to a different sample. I understand trying not to keep too much, but store it somewhere else. SD card, thumb drive...you never know...
Question, so I like to map my xy fx to my qlinks but when i do, even though i try to add them to the last bank of qlinks it still erases all of the other qlink settings..so i can control the xy with the knobs but i cant zoom in and fine tune sample slices because the other parameters are now gone, any way around this?
@@chrisgalactic yea its nice for “performing” live in a since. What way i can stay on my track mute page but still use the xy without having to go to a different screen
A really dumb tip, but, as a new MPC user, I was incredibly intimidated. I am pretty tech savvy, but this thing scared me. I didn't want to modify project files, but I wanted to look at the sample project files that came preinstalled. The problem was, after I loaded a project file, how do you return to the default bootup screen without rebooting the MPC? Hit Main so that you are looking at the default main project page of the current project you are in. At the top left, you will see the name of the project you are in, tap the name. At the bottom left corner will be a button for "New". Tap that, it will do a short 2s restart and return you to the default sample projects page you see on bootup so you can choose an empty project or another sample project. My second tip, just start digging in. Write some RnB, write some techno, do some house, learn your effects and how to use them. This machine really is something special. I have had my Live 1 for a year and a half and only in the last couple weeks have I finally started using it. I loaded it up with a 2 TB HDD with butt loads of samples and loops, and it is just endless. I mean, it really is crazy. I write orchestral music on a PC, but this thing is my go to for anything that does not need orchestral instruments. I finished my first track this weekend, an eight minute RnB piece, and I started on a techno / house thing today that is about four minutes so far. I am not looping, I am writing linearly as that is my preferred style, and it is just amazeballs what Akai has created. Does it have problems? Sure. Track types don't make a whole lot of sense, the machine should handle that internally. This would eliminate much of the confusion. A way of indexing the hard drive would be great. It is nice that I can have a HDD on here but when searching for kicks and getting 10,000+ results, it is impossible to scroll through the list until it is done searching, and each search repeats this process. If there was a way to index the drive so the MPC had a fast lookup table for searching, this would be ideal. By the way, many people talk about SSD's, the only noticeable slowness is when searching, or loading a project. Loading a project is no big deal, my project file is pretty big and it loads in about 25 seconds, I can live with that. Searching is the problem, but if you limit the search to specific folders instead of searching the entire drive, this is much less painful. I would also like to see some music automation, similar to Captain Chords or Hexachords, where the machine can generate a melody, some chords, a bass line, etc. Expounding on this, a way to import a MIDI file that already has chords, a melody, or a bass line, and have the machine intelligently generate content that is missing. I have yet to find a way to import a MIDI file, I have a few hundred thousand on the internal drive, admittedly, I have not had a chance to look for a way to do this. Overall tho, what a beast of a machine. I am impressed, and sad that it sat on the shelf for so long without being used. This new 2.10 update is also something to behold...
Dude! I can't tell you how helpful this is lol; I've been looking for how to get back to that main intro screen for a while now and couldn't find the answer anywhere.
Brother, show me the production of a commercial track from mpc to a label? interested in the whole process of creation, including mixing and mastering. Is it possible to make a full track using only mpc
Hi. Ahh I am wondering how these mpc monitors sounds like. Is there any boombox out there who sounds similar to the mpc monitor? Do you thing the monitor sound better then a JBL charge 2+? Thanks.
Never used the JBL speakers but for production they are fantastic. The bass frequencies really are noticable enough to do some tweaking and adjusting. I would recommend playback through different monitoring devices but I was actually shocked of how good the speakers are
