MAN THAT JUST PUT SO MUCH MEAT ON MY HEAD....I ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND AND FEEL WAY MORE CONFIDENT IN MAKING THIS MY PRIMARY. IVE HAD MPC IN THE PAST AND NEVER REALLY DIVED INTO IT BECAUSE IT FELT FOREIGN TO ME. NOW I HAVE THE LIVE WITHOUT SPEAKER AND ITS BEEN SITTING AND I JUST BOUGHT THE 61KEY WHICH IM IN LOVE WITH BECAUSE I PLAY KEYS. I LEARNED PRODUCING ON A KORG X3 AND MOVED UP TO THE TRITON BEFORE GOING CPU DAW RELATED. THANKS BRO FOR GIVING THIS GEM OF KNOWLEDGE. DEFINITE SUBSCRIBING
10:38 Tip #10, I don't know if anyone has already mentioned this, but I think you meant to say how to delete a project instead of a track. Also the P is for Projects not Programs. When you deleted that .xpj file, you deleted the project file only and left all of the project data files on your drive. The project file is just the file that tells the system to load everything in the project data folder it's linked to. You have to hit the gear icon all the way over to your right then uncheck the hide project data folders box. Next click the All icon next to the Gear icon and delete the project data folder. Don't worry, it's not deleting the original programs that you loaded it from. When you save a project, it creates copies of program in the project data folder.
agree 100% Drum Explode is one of the most dope features. it allows for so much flexibility including dropping your projects into your computer's DAW with each pad as it's own track to be EQ'd. plus i just learned it also explodes audio tracks from within the MP. insane
Great beginners advice👏🏾especially the last one, deleting or removing is good housekeeping👍🏾Akai MPC is a amazing instrument BUT the lack of internal memory means beginners MUST learn to “invest in additional reliable harddrives & save, back up & clean up”all projects during the entire creative process!
Thanks for the feedback Hammer! The MPC live does come with a decent amount of memory to get you started and if that’s not enough SD cards are inexpensive and easy to pop in and out. SSD are now cheap as well. So in my opinion memory isn’t an issue at all. 🙏🏾👊🏾🙏🏾👊🏾
Man thanks for the tips! I have owned my MPC2000XL since they came out about 20 years ago, it’s still working rock solid but it’s time I move to a modern piece of gear 😂 I know these do so much I was wondering how complex they would be to transition over to. Thanks for the helpful videos 👍 Definitely ordering up the Live 2 retro. Ps just Subscribed 😊
@@MarcusElbow 🤪 I got it from Sweetwater so I bought it and then went to RUclips to learn and ran into your channel but I’ll sub and like your stuff and see how I can support you later.
Great video! Thank you for the excellent tips. I was saving a project and noticed a TON of kits being saved, but I am only using one. I was playing around with the expansions and loading kits to see how they sounded. I did not realize they were being loaded into my project. Now my project file takes minutes to save. I tried to delete samples and it deleted everything. How do I delete those kits that I was auditioning but not using from my project? I know it's a real noob question, but I am new to the MPC Live 2. I also have a Akai Force and the MPC Beats software, but I really don't use them as much as I would like (too much to do outside of music). Thank you in advanced for helping me with this question.
You can skip one tiny step - to rename your drum program (or track or sequence), hit the A-Insertion Point Symbol just above the pencil. It’ll take you straight to the name page.
Thank you for the video. Quick question: Is navigating just as quick on the Live II as it is with the MPC One, or is it just a matter of workflow and building muscle memory using the Live II? Thank you, brother. Merry Christmas and Blessings!
these are great tips but I need help bro, I rap and record myself but looking to make some beats too, just got my mpc and don't know how to work this thing... after 3 daYS OF SEARCHING, this format, zoomed in, and clear enough where I can see what you are doing, can you make a guide to making beats from a just opened the box standpoint? how to load kits, where to get the kits, basically buss down the mpc with this video format??? thanks/ subbed
Hey brotha have a problem on the mpclive2 hopefully u can help me out with? For some reason I can’t get my pads to playback my chops from my drum program when I hit the pads when the track is muted but can only hear them when it’s not muted I should be able to hear my sounds on my program when I hit the pads even when it’s muted not sure if I set something up differently in my setup? I never had this problem before can u help me out? Thank u

It feels very similar to all newer MPCs as far as navigation goes. Funny thing is it feels more like an upgrade 🤔 Merry Christmas brother. 👊🏾
