Beautiful, beautiful voice and a definite match for Art Garfunkel. Always loved Colin's songs. I used to sing along and was able to hit the high notes with him! Can't manage it these days.....🥲
I believe this clip is from a BBC show called The Old Grey Whistle Test, in the Spring of 1972. The show appeared around 11:30 on a weeknight (Thursday?), and if you can ever find the original broadcasts, you'd see some of the great, and upcoming, rock artists of the day... somewhat like Jools Holland's show decades later. Colin also performed "I Don't Believe in Miracles" on this episode. One of the greatest vocalists ever!
Thsnk you so much to the artist who put this on yt. He's a beautiful looking man with such an incredible deeply deeply melancholic mesmerising, intensity. Burns my soul yet lifts my spirit somehow. Remarkable
I stiill have the original vinyl record ! Love it, what a voice - was desperately in love with this guy (think i still am!) Loved all his stuff and i still play the lp's. You ROCK Colin !!! xxx
Always loved this my dad played it all time he had a K TEL album early 70's blue cover with artists in rings i'm 51 my era was 80's but will never forget music my dad played sadly he passed 2 years ago
hiya jane i had the same album myself i think it was called 20 dynamic hits(by the original artists) late 1971-early 1972 i think. i was still at college when i bought it. sorry for the loss of your dad. i played this album till it wore out.
Brings back fond childhood memories for me of long hot summers on a Sunday afternoon at home with the family listening to the radio, this and many other classics like it would play, I remember thinking I couldn't wait to grow up and go out there to see what the world was like, well I did, did and I have seen it and all I can say is.....I must have been out of my tiny little mind, I had it made back then and I was too stupid to realize, such is life Lol, thanks for the upload :)
GREATEST FALSETTO EVER !!!!!!!!!!! Makes me crazy every time- we just saw him last night - Ft Lauderdale sold out - CRAZY great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Listened to this on the Johnny Walker Sounds of the 70s show on the radio whilst driving my car. Hadn’t heard it in years. Such a beautiful song. Originally released by Denny Laine to not much success, Colin revamped it and with his wonder vocal range alongside the strings completely changed the song. Wonderful.
I guess is needless to say how beautiful are the lyrics and his performance. Also, Colin looks really really good! Can't remember if I ever saw his face before. His eyes resemble Patrick Swayze's and Robert Sean Leonard could be his double - except for his nose, and eye color maybe. The audio quality is amazing and the volume is fine. Thanks for sharing.
It is a great song written by Denny Laine of course but Colin Blunstone is such a great interpreter of songs that he makes this version even better than the original if that is possible :)
Was 15 or 16.. head full of dreams.. what a magical time.. infatuated with any pretty girl .. from a distance of course.. lots of trouble.. drinking .. police.. just pure madness.. would give anything to re-live the whole episode.. just pure emotion..

Timeless class....Those of us who grew up during the 70's were really spoiled for choice when it came to music of ANY genre....
I am so old that I heard this song when it was first released. I still find it slightly incredible, disturbing and magical.
Hey John, I also had it on a KTEL compilation Album. Do you remember those?
I was 13 and in love with my best friend's Sister.
Me too!!
Yep me too...no point in getting older if you don't get wiser. Mate...we are the survivors...we MUST have done something right....BLESSINGS..
The whole album is amazing! About losing the Love of his life....or so he thought....and haven't we all been there.....the best is yet to come,.....
Colin's voice is so velvety. Enough to make any woman's heart melt....
Such a quintessentially British masterpiece!
Such a beautiful song with giant vocal ability. I love everything he has done.
Most definitely one of my favourite songs of all time. Just chokes me up everytime i hear it.
Aww. I love Colin Blunstone, his voice 😍
Such a profound singer - definitely underrated.
Same here. Standing in the kitchen tears filling my eyes. And I'm 71.
Just listened again. Same result. Still 71 for 2 months.
One of my favorite singers - simply beautiful

The man with such a beautiful voice. Great songs and vocal performances over the years, and The Zombies still tour!
Fabulous song Still a brilliant artist. Thanks Colin 🥰
Brilliant song. It evokes so many memories of the 1970's in Whitley Bay's Spanish City funfair.

Forgotten how cool his voice is, lovely song, lovely voice
Magical combination...angelic voice coupled with a fantastic string arrangement
Wow, must be at least the 42nd I've heard this, but still absolutely fantastic and still sends shivers down my spine.
One of the great vocalists of any genre. Beautiful!
Released in 1972 I remember. Always stuck with me.
Thsnk you so much to the artist who put this on yt. He's a beautiful looking man with such an incredible deeply deeply melancholic mesmerising, intensity. Burns my soul yet lifts my spirit somehow. Remarkable
Listen. I've been around since the early 50s and I've listened to many singers .this man beats all of them
True, I heard him sing this live.... He was brilliant.
Thank you Colin need this in "lockdown " God bless" and just to let you know my name is Cecilia yes and she is the patron saint of music
I stiill have the original vinyl record ! Love it, what a voice - was desperately in love with this guy (think i still am!) Loved all his stuff and i still play the lp's. You ROCK Colin !!! xxx

We need Colin in our lives right now. X

His voice is so beautiful.

Hi Jane! I'm 72 now, and I remember buying this very album from our local market. I still have it and it is in mint condition, well worth the money.
Colin you have the most awesome voice, so recognisable!
Man, that is such a good sound.
Jeez Seeing all the recent clips of the tour amazing. Has me and all my pals addicted again. Brilliant x
What a beautiful voice, love this.
Reminds me of my husband as we were courting at the time...fifty years ago...it only seems like yesterday...How time flies....😢
Unique and so avant garde for the 60's. Great to see you back on tour Colin.
This song was released early seventies
Nope. It wasnt. This song is a cover version. Denny Laine wrote it. @@belindapreston9747
Fabulous string arrangement to a great song.
I think the arrangement was done by Chris Gunning
1971 so long ago another amazing song from that great decade
The string section really nail this.
Love Colin and the Zombies whole catalogue of fine music💜

+John Cashin agreed and now you've grown up bet you want to go back lol
That is exactly what it reminds me of! It was always hot and sunny then, or at least that's how I remember it!
Somehow this song and the comments above remind me of "Beechwood Park" by the Zombies.
Absolutely with you there 100%.
Absolutely with you there 100%. I coulda wrote that.
Pure Class...
All credit to composer Chris Gunning for the amazing string arrangement.
Really all credit goes to Denny Laine for writing the song.
@@justanotherrandomcrit8115 I played with Denny once and told him this was my fav song that he had written
Denny Laine composed the song and released it as a single which sadly didn't chart. John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin fame arranged the strings.
@@justanotherrandomcrit8115 and paul Mcartney ?
@@davidroberts6251 Denny wrote this song completely by himself long before he joined Wings.
Brings back memory’s going to watch Everton in the 70s when I was a teenager love it.great times no worries better life.😎👍
One of my favorite performers and a classic song from the 70s
Just admit it this man can sing
Fantastic singer and song
Great memories
Maravillosa..!!!
Siempre una cancion con un quinteto de cuerdas como acompañamiento es digna de escuchar con respeto y sentimiento.❤😊
Still touring with the Zombies and at 72 years old sounds remarkable
Wow..never knew that..great voice..underrated totally...
Best Pop singer that England as ever produced.
Simply beautiful ❤

Just watched the Denny Laine version, love the 'strange' video.
Beautiful song..Beautiful music
Beautiful. Colin's voice is not celebrated enough. The guys on strings were awesome too.
Look at this .if you know anything about music you'll put your thumb up
I guess is needless to say how beautiful are the lyrics and his performance.

I would have lost the bet. Didn't know it was Denny Laine song. Love it.
It is a great song written by Denny Laine of course but Colin Blunstone is such a great interpreter of songs that he makes this version even better than the original if that is possible :)
Yes I quite agree :)
Denny Laine under-rated too
I didn't know that. That's why it such a great song
Colin's class

So good it hurts
Genius
Time for someone to do a cover of this. Not many out there can match it's quality so would have to do a re-work. A challenge for sure.
I didn't mind😉
😉
Pleasure to listen too
What I do, what I did, stupid fish I drank the pool.
I wonder if this isn't some kind of late Spring/early Summer song? Beautiful in any case.
Aah those strings.
Beautiful song
