20 questions kept me at the edge of my seat. Nice round!
The music on this podcast is awesome. Well done!
The sim city intro music ❤️
Two word game changer for snacking while gaming, especially with potato chips: CHOP STICKS
Seriously, ANY eating utensil will keep your controllers clean! Toothpicks, tiny tongs, even two forks in the clamp grip if you're desperate
Justin forgot about Garliclikes!
The Arcade game you mentioned is called Arcade Paradise.
Double Dragon-likes? Every beat-em-up came off the success of DD.
Scoop! Raleigh, NC represent! Love to see it
That making of human's lives longer bit really cracked me up. 😂
Scoop! 💜 with the Classic Line up
Awesome round of 20 Questions!
Justin's "Hey listeners" soothes my soul 🤍
Love you guys. Great B-rolls!
LOTR b-roll was a top tier moment
Was the audio a mess for others? At least at the beginning... All their mics kept cutting in and out and volume down and up
The whole video is a little weird with audio. Especially in the beginning.
Hearing the word EverQuest brought me back to another time lols
Have a great weekend yall
RTS is not a dead genre! Age of Empires IV, Company of Heroes 3, Pikmin 4, Minecraft Legends, 40K Dawn of War 2, Dune Spice Wars, the upcoming Homeworld 3, not to mention recent remakes like the phenomenal Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition, which is still getting new DLC regularly.
Also Frostpunk is a city builder not survival
Most game media people seem completly disconnected from the reality of strategy games. Just looking at the Game Awards strategy nominies is proof of that and an absolute joke. This discussion is another.
@@TheKindredbladesvery true
A few other influential games that popularized a genre: Angry Birds, Dance Dance Revolution, Devil May Cry, and Dragon's Lair. And then a few arguable ones: Diablo, The Sims, Mario Party, and Carmen Sandiego.
That Maximum Carnage music before the Playdate segment❤.
Resident Evil-likes. There were a ton of survival horror titles in the wake of the original RE
A ton? There's only silent hill and maybe galerians.
Siren as well.
Theres others but yes not a ton@@jamesyu5212
The QTE fights Era that GOW started 😆
lmao that b-roll
Upstate South Carolina shout! WYFF 4 is out of Greenville, SC. Must have been covering a story out of Raleigh, NC
The best way to eat snacks while gaming is to eat whatever you want and use chopsticks so your hands stay dry! 🤗 *wrote this BEFORE the gamer chopsticks were shown 😅
wii bowling was life
Love crafting games being categorized as “tree punchers” 🤣
13:59 Marc Ecko wasn't extreme sports, did they mean to say Jet Set Radio? But Jet Set Radio came out around the same time as Tony Hawk
And 1080 Snowboarding came out _before_ Tony Hawk.
Courageous video title
Scoop City for SNES
Totally agree with Justin about the Zelda-likes. Nintendo releasing more 2D Zeldas would be phenomenal too. This way they could serve both the newer school and older school Zelda fans.
Sim City intro! Scoop!
Iron Harvest was a recent RTS that seemed to be pretty popular.
I’m here Daemon.
There are also XCOM/Fire Emblem-likes!
there was a kinnect bowling on xbox
Guitar Hero-likes?!?!
first battle royale game was h1hz1
Tycoon WhateverTheHell-likes!
Arkham clones like Spiderman 2018
Yeah but it’s basically just spider man right?
Based on the news station it looks like South Carolina!
Shoutout Evan
Sony did motion controles before the Wii. Ps2 eye-toy was motion controlled. Also the patent of the move was a year older then that of the Wii
still use my playdate quite a bit
SCOOP!
Great show Scoopers. Audio was kind of wonky today, but the content was still A+!
Ps2 had loads of platformers , then it was first person shooters and 3rd person shooters and before that was JRPGs
lol they literally talk about all of that, genre by genre.
Justin is playing a game because his 9 year old is playing! Time is flying by!
MMOs were more of a mixed bag before World of Warcraft's success pointed to many just going that route.
Street Fighter 2 caused oodles of bad fighters to be released
age of empires 4 remake and age of empires 2 remaster are great and on gamepass! looking forward to the age of mythogy remake too coming this year
Justin how dare you plug the store and the nicely job hat isn’t available, how dare you!
Video images on a screen that involved accomplishing goals that were controlled by some sort of physical device fad.
Snack hack: put your snacks in a cup and pour it in your mouth. Best foods to do this with, dry cereals. You can thank me later.
Chops sticks for gaming while snacking... Because it's somehow too hard to use forks while gaming??? 😂😂😂🤦♂️
You forgot brawlers & survival horror… 🫤
Aerith is best
Matt, I'll be looking out for you here in the Raleigh area. Just don't ever change your shirt.
Super Mario 64-likes
What about Madden-likes? Everyone had a vertical scrolling behind the QB football game. Sega, Nintendo, Sony, Acclaim, etc.
Scoop!
Justin, I've gone out and bought FFXIV. In honour of you.
What about ARPG's . Diablo-likes. Or looter shooters, destiny-likes
Does this mean that any new games involving post apocalyptic Amazon delivering “death stranding-like’…?
Scoop
Scooooop!!!!!
A 3d open world Zelda game besides okami...hard to find. I'd love more dungeon based 3d Zeldas not made by Nintendo.
AOE4 is a great RTS!
Yall are wrong: Aerith is best girl

If you get hungry while gaming, pause the game and eat something - hell now with we can suspend consoles it's easier then ever

Justin's mic wasn't working in the beginning... can we make this a permanent feature?
The first question was about *unexpected* trends, not just general trends... So you burned 30 minutes on a misunderstood question.
All those things WERE unexpected at the time. No one thought doom was going to be that big or that Metroidvanias would catch on like that.
So it WAS unexpected.
@@Kmaitland89 You want to put broad genres like Doom (FPS) on the same footing as niche trends like Souls likes? The question writer did not do that and neither does the industry at large.
