In this week’s episode, we discuss how photographers should start using Instagram like this in 2023! I for one am not a photographer that spends a ton of time on Instagram, but I find it to be an incredibly useful tool for developing goals for the new year. I've always been a big proponent of goal setting and identifying areas of improvement and what better time to do this than the days leading up to the new year. This is the simplest yet most powerful way to get better, Mark! Instead of doing it yearly, we can make a note of doing this exercise quarterly - that way, we won't just be tracking our work but getting better at the same time by studying other photographers' work. Thank you so much for this advice!
This video is one of the reasons why I follow you Mark. You teach not only about photography but also take it more in depth or should I say take up subjects from behind the scenes to help others progress in their photography journey. Wow! I needed this advice. Instagram is such a powerful tool. I've started using boost app social lately to enhance my profile, and it's pretty amazing.
Yes, boost app social is really helpful. I've been using it for a while now!
I use boost app social too. Their content and caption suggestions are really something else! Keeps my socials popping!

Thank you for this Mark. Your video prompted some stocktaking of my past year's images, and the results surprised me. One of the surprises is that I hardly posted to Instagram in 2022. So, one per week in 2023. Thanks also for a year of great videos and education. It has been fun to apply some of what I have learned from you to my own images, and to follow you on your journey. Totally agree with you on the importance of goal setting. One thing to add is perhaps a review of what we had achieved compared to what we had planned. This should be done periodically as a good habit. Thanks for reminding me about the importance of goal setting.
I really like those ideas for creating new goals! This is my first year that I've really dived deep into photography and I've learned and improved a lot this year. However I still have a ton to learn and your ideas will help me to pinpoint what I really need to improve on in the coming year. Happy New Year Mark! I always enjoy your videos. I have never thought of approaching Instagram in this particular way. Throughout the year, I will take screenshots of different photos I see and like on Instagram and organize an "album" on my phone and have a private Pinterest page where I will "pin" different photos I like, but never the next step of being strategic and writing down the "why" I like this photo. So thanks for the great idea. Have a fantastic year!

Happy New Year, Mark! I quit IG for various reasons and now post on Vero, but your suggestions still apply there. I agree it's hard to set more specific goals than "I want to get better".
Happy Holidays and here is to a Happy and Healthy New year. I want to say I found your channel only a couple of months back and I really appreciate it. I love the fact that you go about many of your videos differently then many other photographers. There are technique jockeys and gear heads but I love the business side of your work... the financial transparency from some of your previous videos etc. We live in a time when talking about ones finances and business practices is looked down upon, BUT at the same time people NEED that info to make informed decisions as to the proper move for their own lives. (especially in the non event photographer space, because i feel you can find plenty of wedding/event photographers to talk about their businesses) And as someone whom would like to move into non event photography as a business I really appreciate your work on making and explaining photography as a business to those not yet in the field professionally. I appreciate you. Thank you!

Thank you for all you do Mark, I hope you have a fabulous new year and 2023 brings you all you hope for. I have really struggled with Instagram, to the point where I actually closed my account! Do you honestly believe it’s still a worthwhile platform? How do you get around the cropping of photos that doesn’t seem to allow you to post an image as it was meant to be portrayed? Perhaps it’s just me missing the point somehow, if so I’d really like to know.
