I've ridden all bikes and they all can have issues. He's just showing you what could go wrong, not what always goes wrong. My CRF 250R Honda had all sorts of issues while my KTM 300 XCW has not had one issue and I beat the crap out of it. What all of these bikes go through and what they can handle is amazing. I do maintain all of my bikes extremely well which is key.

Great video thanks. But people please don't us Dielectric grease. It prevents electrical current, you want carbon grease if you want to conduct current. Dielectric grease would be good for the outside of the connections to prevent water and corrosion from getting in.

I entered into a hare scramble last spring. 3 minutes in I stall it ('13 450sxf), in the bottom of a ditch, couldn't get it started. Pushed it to the first checkpoint and honestly, didn't try much aside from letting it cool down and using the battery (NO KICKSTART BACKUP).
Pushed the dead bike back to the pits and my weekend was done. Now, I assumed it was something the shop did, since I just had the engine rebuilt two weeks before the race. So when I got home, I took the bike back to the shop and said, "what's the big idea?"
He looked over the bike for a minute, reached down and (CLICK), reconnected the fuel line. Started right up... Boy I felt like a horses patoot.

    • @ihaveatinywewee7513
      @ihaveatinywewee7513 2 года назад +2

No offense but people really need to learn to work on their own bikes (not talking about full motor rebuild). It's probably a good idea to take most of the bike apart, clean it and put it back together..
The same thing literally just happened to me but thankfully I took it all apart and almost new right away it was probably the fuel hose not being connected properly or all the way.
There's no excuse any rider shouldn't at least know the basics or have an idea where to start looking for the problem..

Yep, specially since we are out in the desert or in the woods by ourselves. Today we had a guy with an electrical problem in his KTM 450 2014 that would not start. Luckily we were not far away from the trucks but no one of the five guys could figure out what the problem actually was. So yep, we need to learn some mechanical basics.

Did not take me but 30 miles with my new 22 TE-300 to lay it down and smash the headlight into a tree and smash
it to smithereens. When I was collecting the parts and un-hooking the plug from the harness I noticed there was a
6 pin connecter with a rubber plug in it that was unused that was smashed. I'm guessing the harness is one size fit's
all markets and that connecter is for the CEV multi function switch (Horn, signals, etc)
Turns out it has a hot wire that's powered through the main fuse. It blew the fuse so no start or bump start because no
    power to the ECU.
The main fuse on a 22 is a pain to get to. My 19 300 XC-W's was easy to find. Glad they have a spare included on the
bike. Any one with these bikes should learn the fuse location and always have tools with them to pull the seat off
and the fuse out (small needle nose pliers) also get some zip ties and clean up the mess behind the headlight mask
or number plate to protect the wires and connectors.

@@dean8367 That's my point! To much crap to check and maintain and the parts are not cheap, right? Instead of riding, you're spending $$ and a lot of time in the garage. You only have to change the oil and plug if needed, and clean the air filter to maintain KDX's and other older bikes. I can service all 4 of my KDX's in less time than 1 KTM can be done.
