Matthew 12:46-50 New Testament for Everyone 46 Suddenly, while he was speaking to the crowds, his mother and his brothers came and stood outside, hoping for a chance to speak to him. 47 “Look,” someone said to him, “your mother and your brothers are standing outside wanting to speak to you.” 48 “Who is my mother?” said Jesus to the person who had spoken to him. “Who are my brothers?” 49 Then he stretched out his hand towards his disciples. “Look!” he said. “Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 Yes; anyone who does what my heavenly father wants is my brother, and my sister, and my mother.”
I'm a Vietnam vet (USMC) and this song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. It reminds me of times long ago when men were men and girls were girls. No greater gift can any man give than to lay down his life for his brother. Rusty in eastern Tennessee
I so wanted to join the Army but my Dad was murdered and my mom needed help so I quit School. My brother in law came home at the end of the war and had been shot 9 times. GOD BLESS OUR SOLDIERS😢❤
I am Vietnam Veteran and this song means a lot to me and tears rolling down my cheeks whenever I hear or played it on my guitar. I also remember my uncles who all survived the Bataan Death March carrying and helping each other, the sick and the wounded for hundreds of miles without medicine, food and water. In memory also to my fellow Vietnam Veterans living and dead. Thank you to all who have served this Great Nation of ours and those who are still serving. God Bless The USA.🇺🇸
With you brother, it has been a long road. To this day, I can't believe I made it home. United States Army Veteran with you no matter what, where, and when.

I missed you Dad!😢❤️ and Most of my family are members of Armed Forces of The Philippines and most people called us”Military Family”, That’s why my heart goes to all veterans, because they served their countries to bring peace🫡🫡🫡❤️❤️❤️

I did what the picture shows back in 68. The Marine lived and I never saw him again until 37 years later. What a reunion. He never really knew what happened that day as he was in bad shape. I went out and got him and another Marine Fred Kneely took over and kept him alive until the dust off came.Doyle Carr. He is something special to me but I only knew him for 3 days back then. We stay friends yet today.
My brother is a veteran. Im listening to this with tears for him and all who gave the most selfless act of their life to protect our great country. God Bless You All 🇺🇸

Very powerful! I'm 65 and a vet. I'm swimming 15 miles in 6 days for the Wounded Warriors project. I start my swim at 6 in the AM with this song in my heart! My brothers and sisters and their families need our help and I'm proud to help them and our country! God Bless everyone
Thank you for your service young man! God Bless you and all who served! God Bless you and your family Soldier! I've never served in the military but I've been in wars! I have a question for you, Do all the proceeds who donate to wounded warriors project go to all who are in need, because they advertise with celebrities and commercials that have to be paid for, so I'm just wondering if most of the money donated by the people who care, are their funds being used for the betterment of those impacted by War and not to profit off the poor people giving their money away?
In so many ways, thank you! My youngest daughter and son in law are F16 Crew Chief's. AF. I'm your same age. I was home watching the body counts. No cartoons. ALWAYS know in my heart and mind, heroes are real! Thank you for stepping up to the plate. I'd rather not hear political propaganda. That wasn't our war. God bless you, your loved one's and all of your comrades, my hero's.!
Thank you, Monte, and especially for swimming for your brothers. Wounded Warriors is one of the few charities I'll always support, that, and ASPCA! Both need our help so badly and we're happy to help! There are some charities who spend all their money with sad ads on TV, constantly, but they don't get my money, I'm not paying board members, but I will help our wounded warriors and the many lost animals who need our help.
Sadly, this “brotherhood “ in the US, is now long gone. Politics has split us, let’s pray music like this can unite us once again. We need to help each other up when we fall down.
@@mechcurry6732 you have no idea what your talking about. In the military we were all green. All my brothers were green. It didn’t matter what their skin color was, they were green. That was 1974 for me and, unless you’re an asshole you’re my brother.

My mother told me a story about this song. A man saw a boy carrying a larger boy.the man asked if he was too small to carry him. The boy said, "He ain't heavy Mister, he's my brother." Thank you, mom, that was a beautiful story.
The old Boys Town statue is of a kid carrying his brother and that is the title. “He ain’t heavy mister, he’s my brother.” It is a boy’s home in Nebraska founded by Fr. Edward Flannagan. It was founded in 1917.

So sorry for your loss 🙏 This song always make me cry. It came in the radio the day my older sister lost one of her twin boys. My nephew was an infant but at 31 has never forgotten that part of him that died. On his second birthday, he told me when he goes to Heaven he will tell his brother he missed him his whole life. I was bawling my eyes out. He even wrote his college essay on having to live for 2 to never forget his brother.
My dad,who is in poor health is 84 years old and US Army retired. Two tours Korea and one tour in Vietnam. No matter how we feel about both wars, US soldiers stood up to serve America. Never forget their sacrifice. They didn't come home to parades and discounts from stores being a veteran.
My Aunt went into the Army Nursing Corp. At age 22 !!! Her first Assignment was at the bottom of Porkchop Hill......she finished her time in KOREA when the "Police Action" ended ! 11 of my team members got killed on our last mission together, just me and my spotter survived. We had to do a memorial for 11 empty coffins since their bodies were unretrievable. This song was sung in honor of them as the Funeral Eulogy song. My spotter shortly afterwards committed suicide due to Survivors Remorse and PTSD from the situation. It has been over 30 years ago when this happened, and I will never forget MY BROTHERS, and this song will always make me break down in tears. I lost my brother this year. He struggled for over 20 years to a life of drug addiction. He did come good in the end. He fought the battle and won... I often felt the words of this song because we and his family fought the good fight...he's my brother.. RIP
A very great touching song. I can relate to this song because I lost my dear beloved brother through the hustle & bustle life, etc. But at the end he did good & he fought the battle & won. Praise the Lord. He's my brother ...RIP MY DEAR BROTHER VICTOR 🙏 💐💐💐💐
We wives, children and girlfriends waited for our men to come home. Some did; some did not. We cried. We prayed. We worked to aid our soldiers. God Bless these brave men who died for our freedom and to hell with the politicians who started these wars. There is no justice.
My friend I feel your pain everyday, justice is coming. You stay strong and we will carry our brothers across the finish line and we will keep the spirits alive for eternity. God bless you ❤🙏
It’s not enough to say to hell with the politicians, say to hell to the corporations that pay the politicians to start these insane wars. The Vietnamese are still looking for some of the 2 million people of theirs that died in that made for profit war. The biggest mistake the Vietnamese made was not letting the USA win, so they would have rebuilt all the destruction they had caused, and for what ?, to make corporations and politicians richer !
I was never in the military, rejected due to a heart murmur. But I found my own way to serve, with the Red Cross and the Salvation Army. To our men and women in uniform, we may not be brothers and sisters in arms, but I did consider us to be your cousins in arms. If that makes any sense.
Those are the ones that don't know music!!!!!I love this music just hearing this music brings back memories of my two brothers who I lost!!!!Just hearing the verse he's my brother!!!!Thumps up to all the slow jams from the 60s/80s sounds are better then what we are hearing now adays
Sadly Suzanne they are the ones whose brothers are too heavy. Their hearts aren’t filled with the gladness of love for one another. That is our world. Today.
Judith, that is one of the most beautiful comments I’ve ever read. Happily, though, I can tell you that doesn’t have to be our reality. Jesus, shortly before going to the cross, washed His disciples’ feet. “If I, the Lord and Teacher, washed your feet, you should also wash each others’ feet...if you do this, YOU WILL BE HAPPY.” 👍
But you were giving a prophetic warning to us, and a beautiful warning it is. As Jesus said, “because lawlessness is increased in the last days, the love of most will grow cold. “
When I lost my younger brother Martin I played this song over and over again. Not because I took care of him but because he took care of me. You see there was a time when I was addicted to pain pills and I mean bad. I had no place to go because of my addiction and the withdrawals I would have. When I would withdrawal I'd go crazy so my wife asked me to leave. At the time this happened me and my brother weren't getting along. As a matter of fact I hadn't talked to him in about a year. I was living at the park and I went to his apartment to ask him for help. Without hesitation he took me in knowing my problem. During the time I was staying with him I had a heart attack. I was in the hospital for a week and during that time my brother had a heart attack and died. I'll never forget what he did for me. Everytime I hear this song it reminds me of how he took me in knowing the struggle I was going through.
Didnt speak but still loved you just the same and his door was open to you always. True family never turn away. Smile and remember good times everytime you hear this as he watching and looking over you
We serve a big God and He forgives of our sins, give your life to Him and u will see your brother again in heaven, he is waiting for you, Jesus is coming back , be ready for Him and to see your brother again🙏❤️🕊📖✝️
I am a Vietnamese woman I had heard this song more than half a century ago I did not know the war cause I lived in Saigon But this song is bringing tears to my eyes too
My brother wrote me 30 page letters from Viet Nam. I was in high school and wanted to enlist until they told me I would not be able to help. He came home and I was happy. He had a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Eventually told me what happened and also dismissed it all as just "accidental" awards.
I am 78 2 tours in Vietnam 1 on a river boat, This song never gets old and no matter how long it's been it's never very far from me like the rest of us who has served there and any where else where where you are put in harms way.
This song came out the year my husband was in Vietnam. It's our song. I cry now when I hear it. My Marine husband died 1and a half years ago from Agent Orange. He went thru 22 years of cancers. He is my hero and I will love him forever. He ain't heavy he's my brother.
Marina, I hear and feel for you. My husband was in the Air Force. They never were heavy. Always remembered. He died of cancer because at the time there were no safety regulations for Air Craft Mechanics crawling into places without safety gear.

This song, this picture stir such feelings. My husband was in Vietnam and went back to carry a wounded soldier out. Then he got shot and someone came and carried him to safety. Feelings but no words.
Your husband felt the man on his shoulders was more important than him. That's the song in one sentence. You already know this but he's an incredible hero Peace be with you and your husband
💞 Yes...So true. So many of our songs back then....Brought Love and compassion for one another. Together we must always keep the Love Flowing ...Forever. Love and Peace to all always💞✌️
This song reminds my of my husband who, for his whole life, had taken care of his little brother who is very disabled. His brother can do very little for himself. Out of 6 children, my husband is the only one that has stayed behind to take care of his brother full time. Makes me love my husband even more!
@Eatmeat424 Your story is far more relatable and more relevant to the song than the warmongers who went halfway across the world to kill other people's sons. Love and respect to your husband. ❤
Back in 1918, a boy named Howard Loomis was abandoned by his mother at Father Flanagan’s Home for Boys, which had opened just a year earlier. Howard had polio and wore heavy leg braces. Walking was difficult for him, especially when he had to go up or down steps. Soon, several of the Home’s older boys were carrying Howard up and down the stairs. One day, Father Flanagan asked Reuben Granger, one of those older boys, if carrying Howard was hard. Reuben replied, “He ain’t heavy, Father… he’s m’ brother.”
Now I don’t know if my version is correct but I believe the correct telling of the story is that there were two brothers going to a place called “Boys Town” and they had to walk. The youngest one got tired and physically couldn’t walk anymore, so he carried him all the way there. And when he arrived they asked him if he was heavy and he replied “He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother.”
My brother has been carrying me for 3 months now by allowing me to stay with him otherwise I’d be homeless he use to get mad at me when I’d sing him this song just could never figure out why though I dedicate this to u my little brother

And this song isn't just about war. It's about basic respect for our fellow human beings (which is at the core of disagreements/greed at any expense/war). Respect is sorely missing today. It's given way to social media insults and threats, narcissism, cell phones over human contact, lack of empathy for others. If people would just respect one another again, put down the phones and look at each other and see the humanity in their eyes. I believe this world could still heal and change for the better. (Play this song in schools, along with Teach Your Children Well.)

Lost my younger brother to brain cancer 6 years ago. Not a day goes by I don't miss him and I'm almost 70. You never get over the relationship with your siblings, folks. Never thought I'd outlive him.
One of the best songs ever written. I try to sing along and cannot get through the first phrase without my voice cracking into a lump in my throat. The song punches you with two meanings at once, both connected. The literal road in the battle scene and the road that humanity's on. So good.
This song has been playing over and over in my head this morning. Funny how many people have forgotten how connected we all are. Your fellow human being is not taking anything from you ... he's part of you. This is a sharing ... this is how love works.
If this song has been playing over and over in your head it might be Jesus knocking on the door of your heart. This song is inspired and it speaks to Jesus heart of unconditional love and mercy in the world. I was let down by spiritual leaders who preached judgment instead of Mercy. I realized recently that Jesus will use anything to call his lost sheep home. In my case he used music, my poetry, and people in my life to speak to my heart. I found a better Church where the heart of mercy (Jesus heart) seems to have a home. I love this song because the only burden Jesus EVER places on us is that we bear each others burdens. The secret that a lot of people don't realize, even Christians, is that Jesus himself carries the burdens we take on so that we can honestly say: "He aint heavy, hes my brother" and we can also praise Jesus because his yoke is kindly(its mercy) and his load is light(its unconditional Love)
I love the songHe ain’t heavy he’s my brother from my father I was taught each man is your brother and each man is your friend although it’s hard to believe sometime

My wife died in car crush last month. She was my love, my best friend, my everything. So, I listening this song at last time every day...RIP Charlotte 💙🏴
My dad served in Korean War and only one in his division that survived. My son is in the navy for 7 years now, I'm scared he may have to go to Iraq, I pray not...I'm so scared!!
I also think about all the other people in war in every places... so sorry - and hoping for peace all over the world. Best to you (excuse my school-english)
I was recently asked to meditate in Galations 6:2 which speaks of Jesus command to love others as we love ourselves and to bear one another's burdens. The holy spirit brought this song to my memory. This song is so fitting and true. As we walk along this journey of life we have to help one another who may be in need of any kind and not expect anything in return if it's done from the 💙.
When I hear this song I think about the soldiers that lost their lives during Vietnam, they were some very brave men, I can't even imagine what they saw over there in the nightmares they continue to have
God Bless you Martha your right about them being Brave Two of them were my Brothers they both did Two tours each in Nam God was Good and brought them both home but your right about the nightmares🙏🙏
Heard this song so many times but never really got the meaning until I saw that picture. Now it all makes sense. So appreciative to those who fought and died for my freedoms. Thank you
@@christinajacob6871 Yes this photo gives this song a new meaning to the original meaning when it was written back in the 1930's, it's the slogan for Boys Town, a school for boys who were lost and neglect in society. The slogan is written on Christmas Seals under a rendering of boy carrying his little brother on his back to the school, it was a way to raise money as donations for the school buy selling the stamp seals. But this current photo has a more powerful meaning to the slogan since I've had friends who were killed and who were crippled physically and mentally in Vietnam.
Every single time I hear this song I burst into tears 😭. It reminds me of both of my older brothers. No matter how much I try to keep my composure I can't once the song starts. I have much love for The Hollies for composing this song.👍👍💖💖
The Hollies didn’t write this though they did have a popular version of it. The song was written by Bobby Scott and Bob Russell and originally recorded by Kelly Gordon in 1969. The song became a worldwide hit for the Hollies later that year and Neil Diamond had a successful version in 1970. And now you know. It’s still a great song, no matter who wrote it.
Me too ....crying now....with love and pride for service people everywhere.....thank you just doesn't seem enough...I hope NONE of these treasures are suffering today , but I know they are :( xxx
Me, too, tears streaming my cheeks...my husband returned in a wheelchair from Vietnam, through the airport in Honolulu and he was spit upon...he died in 2009. He was a hero.
As a Vietnam vet I am also brought to tears hearing this song. The thoughts of places and names with faces long gone but never forgotten make me sad and yet in a strange way I am thankful to have known and been a brother to real american and vietnamese men of bravery. I remember a saying "To the fighting man, freedom is something the protected will never know". To all my brothers in arms I hope and pray we all choose heaven as our final formation!
So many cone before us given their lives for us brothers and sisters and friends and fathers now we are here at war fighting for our rights to live in peace.
Hey Rogelio, I do not know where you live, but I want you to know that the government of the USA today in no way represents the heart and soul of the majority of the people of the USA believe me when i tell you the wars and hardships many countries and their citizens endure as a result of policies endorsed and initiated by the government of the USA are not the will of the people here, but they are the will and desire of the Federal reserve banking elite and their corporate masters and banking accomplices who are driven by false and deceptive beliefs which if continue unrestricted will eventually lead to WW3 and a nuclear holocaust which no one will laud or commemorate because those that survive such a war will eventually envy the dead as their survival becomes a damnable living death!@@rogeliosolognier8862

Matthew 12:46-50
New Testament for Everyone
46 Suddenly, while he was speaking to the crowds, his mother and his brothers came and stood outside, hoping for a chance to speak to him.
47 “Look,” someone said to him, “your mother and your brothers are standing outside wanting to speak to you.”
48 “Who is my mother?” said Jesus to the person who had spoken to him. “Who are my brothers?”
49 Then he stretched out his hand towards his disciples.
“Look!” he said. “Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 Yes; anyone who does what my heavenly father wants is my brother, and my sister, and my mother.”
I think about this often and wonder why in this age of the internet we are still fighting each other...

Great song
In so many ways, thank you! My youngest daughter and son in law are F16 Crew Chief's. AF. I'm your same age. I was home watching the body counts. No cartoons. Thank you, Monte, and especially for swimming for your brothers. Wounded Warriors is one of the few charities I'll always support, that, and ASPCA!
I JUST told my mum the same story!
The boys were orphans and the one being carried had polio and couldnt walk. So they carried him around with them, stemming the question.

“If I, the Lord and Teacher, washed your feet, you should also wash each others’ feet...if you do this, YOU WILL BE HAPPY.”
👍
But you were giving a prophetic warning to us, and a beautiful warning it is.
As Jesus said, “because lawlessness is increased in the last days, the love of most will grow cold. “

I was 4 years too young for Nam. I did join the Marines in 74. Respect to all Nam Veterans.
He loved you ❤️🙏
Didnt speak but still loved you just the same and his door was open to you always. True family never turn away. Smile and remember good times everytime you hear this as he watching and looking over you

I'm 74 years old and I miss my brothers in arms so much it hurts

My brother wrote me 30 page letters from Viet Nam. I was in high school and wanted to enlist until they told me I would not be able to help. He came home and I was happy. He had a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Eventually told me what happened and also dismissed it all as just "accidental" awards.

Stay with us. Love you for all you done.

I’m weeping all through the song for all those heroes that never made it, they were my brothers 😢😢😢😢
I am not a war hero. But I Love my brothers. Respect to those who protected us.
I think this picture speaks much more than any video could!
Nice story, heart breaking..Thank you from all Services.xx

And this song isn't just about war. It's about basic respect for our fellow human beings (which is at the core of disagreements/greed at any expense/war). Respect is sorely missing today. It's given way to social media insults and threats, narcissism, cell phones over human contact, lack of empathy for others. If people would just respect one another again, put down the phones and look at each other and see the humanity in their eyes. I believe this world could still heal and change for the better.
