    Four decades ago, I had severe GERD for about two years. I suddenly started having severe stomach pains. I was initially misdiagnosed by a doctor as having ulcers. Some time before, I had done an activity that pushed part of my stomach into the chest cavity. Sometimes this happens naturally without a clear cause. Normally, the esophagus sphincter and the diaphragm sphincter muscles line up and reinforce each other. If part of the stomach is pushed or pulled up through the diaphragm, the sphincters and muscles don’t line up and stomach acid can more easily leak out of the stomach and into the esophagus, causing GERD. I took me a couple of years to realize that I really had Gerd.
    I figured out a simple cure: I would drink a couple glasses of cold water first thing in the morning and jump up and down for a couple minutes to jiggle the stomach back down to its normal position. It took a while for the esophagus to adapt to the longer length. I would repeat the process anytime I got an acid taste in my mouth. I have been trouble free. I later learns of a gastroenterologist in Michigan who recommends this process also; maybe others now also.
    The body needs strong hydrochloric acid in the stomach to trigger the esophageal sphincter to close, to break down bulk foods generally, and to specifically to break protein into separate amino acids to be effectively absorbed in the intestines and to be used by the human body. Most or all GERD medicines block the production of or neutralize the hydrochloric acid and thus interferes with protein digestion and interferes with esophageal sphincter closing. Not good.

      Yes. I have that. I also have a chronic dry cough that I have had for some years now and no one knew what was causing it. I was only diagnosed a few weeks ago with a 1.5cm hiatal hernia. I never have acid reflux or heartburn. I burp a bit but the worst symptoms for me are the breathlessness, cough and my stomach area (above waist) is always hard and feels full. Really uncomfortable. I've tried everything... nothing works. I'm tempted to have keyhole surgery as I miss enjoying food.

    Key for me was to loose weight and correct posture and breathing habits to strengthen the diafragma. I mostly used my secondary muscles to breath. Had issues with acid reflux, sob and palpitations. The palpitations was the first thing to get better and after the sob. I still get acid reflux every now and then but ita ok as long as I don't get it while sleeping. That's really annoying.

    This is just incredible exercises I’m learning for the first time. I’ve had a hernia operation done in 2019 and it ruptured again ( thanks to poor patient/doctor communication on the doctors part) and since then I’ve developed an additional 2 more that are growing. I’m currently on call since July 29 of this year abs because of Covid there is a backlog, what luck right ? But seriously, even after my first operation, not even the surgeons team did not demonstrate no exercises such as this one and others that I’ve seen from this doctor. I will start these ASAP because I’m in complete discomfort and I’m sure I’ll be waiting a while before I get called for the operation. So cheers and thx for this great post.

    I just cant believe that in 2023 we do not have proper ways of removing Hiatal Hernia for good. Surgeons and Medicine evolved so much and all we have is a dealing with symptoms and not addressing the real problem. FFS I had my Arm ripped off and Surgeons manage to reattach it. They did took some nerves from others part of the body but I'm typing now with two hands and they tell me we cant make your hernia go away so you can get back to lift heavy things and train Kick Boxing again like ever ? Why not repair the muscle that got ripped same as with arm and if nerve is damaged they can take it from other parts of the body. I don't get this why are Surgeons so incompetent when it comes to Hiatal hernia.

    • @GWAYGWAY1
      @GWAYGWAY1 25 дней назад +1

      The hernia is caused by a ripping of the Crux and that allows. This allows the pressure of the stomach to push up through the gap, it can be done but there is more money with a returning customer.

    Hey Dr. Kulla, what does it mean if I consistently hear gurgling and draining sounds whenever I do the hiatal hernia downward self-massage? I feel like I've gotten some good results over the last few weeks, such as less nausea and it seems like my chronic burping reduces at times, but then it'll come back. It kinda feels like I'm able to loosen the hernia, but then it re-herniates, it's hard to say exactly what is going on. Anyway, looking forward to this tool. I overused my thumbs with the self-massage and now I have to use my index and middle fingers which don't seem to get as fatigued.

    This is really interesting. For years now Ive been struggling with severe stomach cramps and vomiting that would last for between 1 and 6 weeks, that would come and go randomly about once a month. I found what i thought was a point of stored stress, as when i massaged it i pretty much just started bawling immediately. Not from pain but from relief if that makes sense. I had shortness of breath too. Come to find out it was a sliding hiatal hernia. With some research i actually wondered about it but it was confirmed after an endoscopy about a week ago. They blew me up with air in order to see what they needed to, and let me tell you my previous level 10 pain from tearing my acl and shredding my meniscus became a 6 or 7 compared to the pain i went through after i got home and the anesthesia fully wore off. Wild stuff.

    Can you fix hiatal hernia without surgery then strengthen it and get back in lifting weights? I went to a doctor and they say they don’t see anything wrong but a little past where you are pressing on her between my abs there is a small 1inch vertical line that lumps out just barley.. curious what that might be. Cause they did CT scan and said nothing just cosmetic.. 🤷‍♂️ just quit lifting cause I wanted to make sure and not make things worse. I don’t lift super heavy but more reps.

    • @Synergywellnessny
      @Synergywellnessny  2 года назад +6

      Yes you can. Lifting makes it worse and lifting without proper breathing is even worse. We are coming out with a self help tool, with that done a few times a week and strengthening your diaphragm you can fix a sliding type 1 hiatal hernia. Especially a smaller one. Often times it is missed and an endoscopy or barium swallow would be done to diagnose hh

    Where do I get the tool? I need this. I have been suffering for a VERY long time. I have told the drs since the beginning where my pain was and they Never mentioned I might have a hiatal hernia. For 3 long years!!!! They told me I had anxiety… and eventually took out my Gallblader. Ohmygosh! I have been to hell and back. I’m going to my chiropractor tomorrow. Thank you for this information.
    Do all chiropractors know how to do this? I need help desperately.

    Can this tool, or hands if pressed deep in stomach, damage internal organs?

    • @Synergywellnessny
      @Synergywellnessny  3 года назад +3

      If there’s a calcification of abdominal aorta then you want to be careful and gentler so as not to perforate the abdominal aorta which would take a lot of force. The tool is not sharp therefore it should and would not damage any internal organs. Your stomach naturally moves up and down so you will not damage the organs.

    I have been trying omeprezol for 20+ years because of acid reflux created by a hiatal hernia. I'm a bit skeptical, but the hernia is no place near where he's stabbing her with that piece of metal. But maybe the handle end would be more comfortable 😂.

      It pulls the hernia (your stomach) down and corrects the hernia. Then we give you exercises to strengthen your diaphragm. Some need more than that and we add chiropractic.
