Just started dentistry after 2 years of medicine. For me med school was just too competitive and stressfull with all the requiremts to enroll in your favorite specialism and then to have endless nightshifts... Really happy I've made that choice.
How are you liking it if you’re still in the dental field? I’m taking a break from the cosmetology field for a little while because it is very hard and stressful on my body I’m really interested in phlebotomy blood drawing or dental school… I’m stuck with what I want to do but, I know I want to continue my education while I’m 21 and can handle the changes better.
After 3 years , what do you think ? Did you make the right decision? Is dentistry worth it? Currently I am also struggling to choose between the two. Would really appreciate it if you share your experience.
@@MALI-sm7zm Haha, almost forgot I made this comment 3 years ago. Great question btw. I'm now in my 4th year of dental school and I love it! Still doubting if I might still finish medicine after dental school to become a maxillofacial surgeon as I want to do larger things than the mouth. However, I discovered how many things are already in dentistry and how much you can do after dental school and that on every sub-division in dentistry like periodontics, implants, endodontics, crowns and many more you can expand and specialise yourself. So you can do a lot of things as a dentist and the work hours and independence as a dentist is great. Just a piece of info for those who are considering following her route. A 6 year OMFS program is not the answer for you if you want to be a physician. Although you will have a MD after your name, you will not be regarded as a physician by other physicians simply because the training of a physician, like she said in the video, takes 4 years of med school plus 2-10+ years of residency/ fellowship ( depending on how deep the rabbit hole you want to go...). A MD OMFS program will make you a dentist, a OMF surgeon with a MD title ( that is granted based on first two of med school plus a few rotation geared mainly related to surgery/OMFS). You will not have the option to choose any of the medical specialty without doing 4 years of med school again. That’s a pretty good indicator the MD title associated to a OMFS is not equivalent to a the regular MD. I personally think dentistry is awesome, and OMFS is one of the best specialties if you have what it takes. So, don’t think I’m putting her down. She has to be very competent to be accepted to a good OMFS program. You got to make up your mind and pick one before you start. What other dental specialty pays stipend? And yes, OMFS gets paid 50-60k per year during residency BUT you’re typically charged medical school tuition during the 2 med school years
How come school pay and student debt is so bad in the US? I live in the UK and we don't have that problem... could u explain it to me because i hear everywhere that its a huge problem😣
I know I’m late but it’s not a dual program. You do 4 years undergrad, 4 years dental school, THEN apply for a 6 year OMFS residency (Which includes getting an MD).

How are you in OFMS residency and in medical school, why did you decide to go to dental and medical school when you can go straight to medical school and pursue something like ENT or plastic surgery??? I'm a medical student and don't understand how this is even possible doing dental residency and medical school
In the US you do take care of patients as a part of the dental school program. Since you are not a licensed dentist until you are done with school you cannot work outside of the school.

You don't (or didn't when this video was filmed) know a lot about different medical specialties and it shows. It's a little embarrassing that you're sharing misinformation. FM outpatient clinic can be extremely hands on. Look up all the procedures they do. IM inpatient can also be very hands on, again, look up the procedures that are possible there. It's also insulting to say they just refer patients when they really manage so many different diseases.
So this means to me that lots of dentists don't know what they are doing and lots more will tell you that you need unnecessary work just to make money at you and your teeth's expense.

Do you get a salary in omfs or in other dental specialties/residencies like orthodontics??
What other dental specialty pays stipend?
And yes, OMFS gets paid 50-60k per year during residency BUT you’re typically charged medical school tuition during the 2 med school years
Yes. It is equal to the medicine version
What are working hours of omfs
How the hell do you pay for medical and dental school...?
How come school pay and student debt is so bad in the US? I live in the UK and we don't have that problem... could u explain it to me because i hear everywhere that its a huge problem😣
@@sarakhreawish6322 Universities are ran as a business is all, that's the only reason why.
She might come from money and it’s not a concern
@@vanessa.payano I suppose but that would have to be a rare breed of people.
what is the musics name at the end in the background?
We don't talk anymore (acoustic) by Charlie Puth and Selena Gomez
How do you know which dental schools have this dual program? I've been searching but can't get a list of schools.
I know I’m late but it’s not a dual program. You do 4 years undergrad, 4 years dental school, THEN apply for a 6 year OMFS residency (Which includes getting an MD).
What level and type of research would you need to do to be competitive for OMFS training?
U r totally amazing. ....now u r my inspiration 🙏🙏👍👍...... u r which specialty ??
She’s stating the obvious. Of course Dentistry is HANDS ON 🤦🏾♀️
Just noticed the name of your channel. Nice one. Ha
What is your current profession?
Kitchen farmer
omar khamis 💀💀💀😂
How did you afford both of this?
Sorry but I'm so confused. How are you in OFMS residency and in medical school, why did you decide to go to dental and medical school when you can go straight to medical school and pursue something like ENT or plastic surgery??? I'm a medical student and don't understand how this is even possible doing dental residency and medical school
Do dental students work when they r in school?
In the US you do take care of patients as a part of the dental school program. Since you are not a licensed dentist until you are done with school you cannot work outside of the school.
If im 44 when I finish my bachelor's degree - Am I too old to become a dentist.....49 when I'm finished school- also Im concerned about paying back debts of 300- 500 k at my age.....Also is there anything that I can do to stand out to get accepted into dental school? Like a master's degree or EMT or extra shadowing or nutrition certs....Thanks in advance!!!
I am in a similar boat. Only after medical school I learned that I loved dentistry even more. Now it is too late, since I am almost 50...
You're never too old
Kertamo im dreading that kinda thing 😖😟😟
I am in the same boat. I am 33 years old and this's 3rd year in college. I really like dentistry. I don't if it is too late now:( am I too old to become a dentist? please give me some advices? thanks in advence.
@@Hugo-fd8ky For me I have 3 kids which includes 1 newborn and alot of debt and I will be 41 in a few months- so I m not going to become a dentist at 46 ....But for you your younger and if you don't have debt- go for it....But count the cost of schools which can be up to 350- 500 k ....Also consider dental hygienist which is only 2 years and gets paid well and school is at community college maybe 40 k in student loans.
are u doing an oral and maxillofacial surgery residency with MD?
prachi sharma . Yes, its considered an MD , but because she went to dental school too she also is a DDS
Thanks !
So this means to me that lots of dentists don't know what they are doing and lots more will tell you that you need unnecessary work just to make money at you and your teeth's expense.
MEDICALLLLLLLLL

Superwoman!
Look at your pics looking like a princess in medical school and a simple girl in dental school. Dental sucks I guess😂
