The game's name itself is puzzling to me.... CONCORD? ... like the plane?? ........ why??? People googling it will find that dumb plane and think of that dumb plane Oo omfg I just tested it for fun! and literally: game, plane, right underneath another! (and beside another in picture search mode) and a burning concord plane is picture 4 HOW FITTING.
So is the time Sony had a furry visual novel as one of their showcase future titles for the PS4, and having that title not only lose to a parody version of itself...but said parody came out nearly 2 years before it did.
@mrbigglezworth42 And then lose to another furry visual novel made by the same people. "Wanna see me piss off the Canadians?" "Wani see me do it again?"
@NehfariusEven funnier that the studio that developed the Astro games were also closed down by Sony, only for Team Asobi to rise out from the shadows and prove to an entire group of shareholders that a game that had the complete opposite genre (Astro Bot) was better than the 12 or so live service games that Sony tried to develop, is the literal definition of corporate karma. Astro Bot got Game of the Year 2024 from The Game Awards, while Concord was the biggest failure in video gaming history, to the point where even the Genshin Impact 1st Anniversary controversy seems miniscule in comparison to the $400 million PR dumpster fire that was a generic 5v5 hero shooter.
sometimes you really wonder, those live service games eat up so much of your time, and this was like the 3rd hero shooter? that offers absolutely nothing special
"Sony wondering what gamers want" But turns off comments when people are telling them. You've literally turned off your feedback, free market research. all you had to do is read it.
The game wasn't even bad, it was good but good and nothing else. Can't even say much negative about it since the game was so shallow there was not even much to mess up with the game. The game was so generic if concord was free and it would be 2016, Overwatch for 40$ would still dominate the market. Pac-man had deeper storytelling and art designs than this crap called Concord and i mostly blame the art team for it's failure.
Concord: 660 peak playercount, $40, shutting down soon LOTR Gollum: 2000 peak playercount, half the price, still available to play, "at least it's COMICALLY bad"
The firewalk studios fired senior workers and promote a lot of new hires into senior ones with a slightly lower pay. It's unavoidable if the work took longer.
Its now 2025. Let me give you guys a run down of what went on since then 1. Game was sunsetted Concord was fully shut down, and will not return 2. Firewalk Studios was shut down Sony shut down Firewalk Studios after Concord's failure, and layed off every employee as a result. The End
This is the result of terrible management (Google the executive director, she's woke impersonated). I'm positive that more than one employee raised their hand to provide feedback but was dismissed.
I work for a telecom software company. In our contracts, we were forbidden from representing the company, or speaking as an employee of the company about the company's products. I thought it was weird at the time but as I got more experience, I finally understood why. This is a principle that the gaming industry has yet to learn.
Same with Helldivers 2 when it first came out. Devs couldn't handle the negative criticism and lash out at the consumers, which in turn generated more. The CEO apparently had to step in to teach them how to be adults. Unfortunately, those man childs are still employed and haven't learned much.
As a video game artist all I can say from an artistic point of view is: I like the artistic approach they took (with the environments) and the artists clearly knew what they were doing. Well made models, textures, environments, level design, etc. They definitely had the experience and knowledge required to make such game. Unfortunately it looks super ugly, hideous, and these artists had such a bad taste it makes me want to scream. It is the equivalent of someone knowing how to play an instrument really well but composing horrible music that sounds like garbage.
I looked at some of the concept art and it looked fine if derivative, but the designs lacked any really unique character. Then by the time of modeling and rigging the already flawed core designs were made even more generic, forgettable and fugly, in many cases probably because the original design was too complex or had too many moving parts. Terrible planning and execution on the art direction.
The tragedy is that the leaked concept arts for the game looked superior to the actual end product - not great mind you, but comparatively better. It's like the artists made some good designs, but someone higher up thought they should look uglier and more generic, and the artists gaslit themselves into thinking that they were making the designs better.
The woke part is what (probably) tanked the art direction. You can tell from looking that "representation" was probably the primary focus when originally designing the characters. The result is a politically motivated roster of forgettable people.
Unexpected.... Well welcome back from the moon I guess... "They say they don't know because they chose to ignore or to not accept...but it was there..." People saying now "unexpected" simply have been blind for the last 10 years but well... I do know the reason... It's so much ez to ignore unpleasant things and to learn more... It's so easy to just walk ur daily routine.
I had no idea this game was coming out. Zero. Thats where they went wrong. I got no ads, I saw no promotional videos, and I didn't even hear about it until it was terminated. I bet if they actually told people that they were releasing a game maybe I would have tried it. How do you spend over 100 million dollars over 8 years and do absolutely nothing to hype up the release?
Not defending Sony or Concord but...that's just normal like bland bland BLAND normal behavior. I won't get into the details but the outlets probably didn't pay anything for them until they were sold and making physical copies for Sony would cost pennies so only the labor and transportation cost anything which given Concords inflated budget was peanuts.
@djbl19984 If you think transportation costs is a "small" cost, you are SORELY mistaken. Sincerely, someone who works in the international transportation of goods industry.
There are so many things about Concord. Such as - The Devs calling people who criticize the game Talentless Freaks - Spending 200+ Million Dollars and 8 years to make, only to shut it down in a few days - The Average Housefly lived longer than the game - The New Mario and Luigi officially announcing that the main area of the game is called Concordia Easily one of the Biggest L in gaming.
The PR disaster with this game blow my mind away. It’s the most basic PR and marketing that you don’t want to alienate your product to your target audiences and these people just keep insulting their potential customers then surprised when no one want to buy their game. And this came from Sony not an indie studio. The upper management from this studio is beyond stupidity and I’m so glad they get reality check real hard.
Do you wanna know the best part that absolutely no one’s been talking about? This game lasted 12 days, but it’s actually at SECOND PLACE! It can’t even win in the one single solitary statistic of time it’s infamous for! That gold medal would go to “The Culling 2”, a sequel to a legacy/forgotten sixteen player Battle-Royale game. The original Culling had positive reviews but died in obscurity thanks to PUBG and Fortnite taking the limelight. The sequel was received so bad that its plug was pulled only EIGHT DAYS after launch! They tried relaunching the original Culling but the studio couldn’t break even and it ultimately died in total obscurity as it had the first time.
Oh my god, someone actually remembered the culling! I used to like that game but it's like the devs just gave up only after a year. Couldn't compete with fortnite brainrot, which is a shame because I enjoyed it for being a more realistic survival game. That sequel, man... Huge disappointment.
The Day Before surely has the record in this category, as I believe the game was shut down and taken off the steam store less than three days after launch. Although, it might be disqualified for being sort of a literal scam? It's funny how the Day Before was one of the most (or THE most?) Wishlisted games on steam and has been memory-holed into oblivion even harder than Concord.
What IS it with the L thing? Did they all just collectively decide on a whim that spamming L means disappointment? (I'm not a PS gamer so I don't know if this is an established meme or something)
@fallingwater Surely you must know, as a gamer or someone who frequents social media, what the L is? It means someone has experienced a defeat, failure, or setback. Like the phrase "hold this loss" or "take this loss" and implies that the person should accept their defeat.
@HoneyBunny-69 Thank you, that's the explanation I was looking for. I'm strictly a single-player gamer and my interest in social media is mostly limited to cat videos and niche nerdery, so I'm not knowledgeable about online gaming communities and their terminology.
@fallingwater L is shorthand for loss or loser, in gaming circles specifically often a shorthand for the phrase "take the L/loss", to imply that the entity the L is directed at failed to accomplish their goals in that specific situation. The specific origins of the phrase are, iirc, early 2000s american slang, and the gaming community only adopted it relatively recently.
In fairness, these days pretty any game that isn’t a massive sequel/remake or whatever will get people spamming L/Z in these kinds of shows, it’s why I never have chat open for those events anymore (Not saying it happening to Concord wasn’t warranted, it just happens to a majority of games showcased)
They live in a echo chamber, just like the devs of Suicide Squad, they are surrounded by people forced to praise them to not get fired and they ended up believing all the crap they're pulling is genuinely good
@LoquendoversoITyep... this is when DEI becomes a problem, when who you are and your politics are more important than creating a quality product... as well as hiring unqualified people to meet diversity quotas
@highbread817bruh imagine looking at this shitshow and going "lol woke L" instead of laughing at sony execs for being greedy. u probably count the money for those corporate shills and thank them for stealing ur money too lol
8 years down the drain. Imagine being surprised that you might lose your job because of your incompetence, and then wanting empathy from the people you constantly patronize and demonize. Their logic is flawless and the irony of them calling people, i quote, « talentless freaks » speaks for itself.
@Neil.02 That and incompetence. There is no reason for a hero shooter to take 8 years in a Post-TF2 world nor cost an eye-watering amount for a live service game.
@rayvenkman2087 agreed, and tbh, the only thing that those characters could even be potentially used for would be to used as references, taken apart to use their rigs, retextured, or reused as different characters in another game, likely with quite a few differences
21:57 if you want to know how affective character design is, i instantly went "omg what a cutie!" to this one random overwatch character i have never seen before in my life but had absolutely 0% reaction to any of the characters from this game.
@crim1188 At least Overwatch managed to capture the attention of nsfw artists. This vid is so right, even if there's a small market for fat fetish content, nobody would touch those chunky tubs of lard from Concord.
I felt sorry for the people who worked hard to get the game out, but insulting potentials consumers killed whatever sympathy I had for them. Good luck getting a job with that attitude.
if FireWalk had been left to their own devices in the natural gaming ecosystem, that attitude would have been weeded out by the consumers and the tight budgets, or just tanked the whole studio. Sony took them out of their natural environment and gave them a platform before they'd grown enough to be able to use one properly.
Most of them alredy deleted everything related to Concord from their social Media profils. Looks like suddenly they are not that proud of beeing a part of the Concord Dev Team anymore. 😂
I'm sure a lot of people that work there are good people but the people in charge like the LEAD character developer, needs to take blame. Directing how these super important characters would look, feel, live, probably one of the most important parts of the development because of how hard they advertised that part. The Lead developer here shouldn't have decided to make bland crap and tell everyone it is gold. Everyone can see what it is. If the game hinged so hard on characters, the director and lead character designer should have been fired and replaced by better people for more money.
it is actually mind-blowing that a company that has grown so big would not understand basic sales strategies to this extend: releasing something 8 years after it's trend, asking money for it when competition is free, insulting your target audience, shutting out feedback and still thinking those same people saying the game is bad, will buy your game ... This whole drama made Sony look like they put a toddler in charge, literally any random gamer would know better what would sell and what wouldn't, just the biggest L they could take (and the prices for their new console are not going to help them lol)
@lexi-mr9mz Considering Sony's list of active IP's are pretty small compared to Nintendo and MS', it's quite a loss. Even WCW didn't dive this hard in its final years.
@tradefort_1990 I’d say Last of Us Part II was the finger poke of doom with how everything went surrounding it and what’s come out since. Like the infamous event itself, it didn’t lead to an overnight death but it certainly marked a noticeable decline from there. It’d be more accurate to say Concord is Sony’s own Kevin Nash WCW Thunder Blood Bath moment and just as big of a miss.
@tradefort_1990 Nah. MS kind of stole that one when they brought out Bethesda and Activision... Or is that more reminiscent of Jim Crockett Promotions with how quickly they brought out assets like Tawna Bandicoot's? 🤔
God that list of old Sony IP's that kicked the bucket. That hurt to watch. Sony's like a toddler in a room full of the best toys ever made and somehow they run straight for the fork by the wall outlet.
Sony's like the average RUclips gaming essayist acting like the entirety of gaming is dead by hyperfocusing on crappy AAA game releases while blatantly ignoring genuinely amazing indie games.
I remember when they announced Concord. Everyone was just like "uhhh. Okay I guess?" and then were confused when half the showcase was just Concord. They tried so hard to hype it up, so insanely hard, but everyone was just so confused by the game. Like I can't even tell you WHY they were confused, but almost everyone was confused by it. Is this a single player game with multiplayer components? Is this a hero based shooter? Why do all of the characters look so goofy and strange? And so on and so on.
@observerf-03p.d39it has at least 3 pages full on the "funny green website" now. I'm disappointed that half of it is the lizard girl and only 2 pics of the green guy :(
A lot of the character designs would've been massively improved just by using different colors. It honestly seems like they just used a random color generater and hit "fill" on various parts of their design. Bright blue lipstick with bright pink accents on a dirty green armor suit? What were they thinking?
I would argue it wasn't, I actually used ai as reference, and it gives you mid pallets that you yourself can elevate. What Concord likely did is they went against every single design philosophy, thinking they were revolutionising
One of my friends called Concord "Diet Overwatch" when the trailer first came out, he was ecstatic and dying of laughter when we found out Concord was getting pulled on 6th.
Imagine if they just used that money to improve and cheapen up their console manufacturing. Heck it might be better to use that money and give away their consoles to schools as "educational equipment" to get kids hooked earlier like what Apple did with their computers.
@dpicks24 Nah, it's sony. As much as I hate how predatory EA is, they still make money. Sony however, not only failed at concord and sell PS5 pro at $700, they still have fairgame$ still under development and most likely going to fail too
I feel so bad for the hundreds of devs who really worked hard to make the game just for it to flop. You know that they work hard, and it sucks to see them flop. They should have advertised it. I didn't even know about it either.
If you don't understand why the design is so bad, some art channel break it down (and spoiler a head, all of them said it was that bad) my fav is sungrand studio
And what's funny that Valve's new hero shooter (Deadlock) has currently way more players than concord had on launch, and Valve's game is currently in "invite-only beta"
What's more interesting is that the game is still in early development Character's model are still janky, some texture are still not finished, but they got the gameplay right
@Doctorpeppen Yeah, this is something that lots of people got it wrong If one were to be really specific, Deadlock is 3rd person Dota, the simplest explanation for that game
It wasn't, it did help but the 40 dollar price tag, the lack of good marketing, the development helI and the bad faith of their creators helped a lot more.
@Xavast Marvel Rivals is free, has widely known and loved characters, had a concret direction during development and the developers don't openly insult their players but instead try to listen to their community. Remove all of those things and Rivals falls, no matter how hot their characters.
16:09 The "I'm doing this for me, not for you," defense only works for personal projects, like fan art and fanfics. It doesn't work when it's your career on the line.
Imagine following up on that Concord shitshow by releasing an overprized and almost completely redundant "upgrade" to your current gen console, which didn't even have the chance to fully flex it's tech yet. Yeah, Sony is really farming those L's right now.
And to make it worse... the Disc drive for it is not even coming with the console but is freaking OPTIONAL >_> Even the plastic stand costs way more than it should. I swear, Sony has absolutely lost it and it seems all they do all day long is licking some weird toads.
He said she's not "conventionally" attractive, which means a small percentage of people might still find her attractive. Though that's basically the same as being unattractive. Hell, a small percentage of people out there are genuinely attracted to women eating actual shit.
Jokes aside, its amazing how even the NSFW artist or the rule 34 artist DONT want to even touch this game, its insane, those damn animals can make anything into porn But this game... THIS GAME IS A EXCEPTION and i find that insane
louis rossmann once said "your software sucks if people don't even wanna pirate it" and i think we can draw parallels to it, terrible games and r34 artists if your media franchise is absolutely f&&king terrible, not even artists of any capacity will ever draw it at all
@reknostarfox4690 artists are artists, they do what they wanna do but they have some things they'd never touch with a 5,000 kilometer iron pole concord is one of them
Even Battleborn ended up getting Rule 34 art. I only know this because Randy Pitchford actually tweeted about it in an attempt to drum up more interest in the game before it shut down.
The best way to not become consumed by the hatred from media is to just ignore agendas that would make you mad in the first place and just find stuff you like to do instead. Props to all those who saw this product and decided to ignore it. The more people that just start ignoring badly made products without lashing out the less ammunition they will have for false narratives against us gamers.
My absolutely favorite part of this failure is how so many commentators were like "well of course it failed, nobody wanted another hero shooter." Then, Marvel Rivals releases a month or two later and does great as another hero shooter.
Those commentators got one thing wrong: people aren't tired of hero shooters, they're tired of ideology-driven slop. If you allow developers to include-wait for it-FAN SERVICE in their games, THEY WILL SELL BILLIONS. STOP THE IDEOLOGY, EMBRACE THE FAN SERVICE.
@ResidentWeevil2077 Or people just want a fun game. Literally any character in Rivals can be used by a beginner to demolish the other team, meaning anyone can pick it up. It's just fun.
@ResidentWeevil2077 I mean there's games where the characters could be ugly as shit and it wouldn't really matter, like Watch Dogs or something. But some genres of games live and die by how fuckable their characters are, and hero shooter is one of those genres
There are others. A fighting game called Fantasy Strike. Not only is there literally no NSFW art, there's not even any fanart. I searched everywhere and saw like one or two pictures on Deviantart. Also a bunch Chinese and Korean manhua/manwha
Do you have ANY idea how BAD character design needs to be, for the entire community of R34 to just say "No, we won't make corn outta this shit". No no, seriously, can you even fathom how BAD it has to be, for the most degenerate community REFUSING to do anything with it. That's.......really, really bad.
I mean, degeneracy aside, there does at least need to be some spark to get people interested in lewding the characters. There's no reason for people to be interested in this when overwatch has much more identifiable and popular char designs, genshin is a degenerate trainwreck that gives you all the waifus and husbandos you'd want, fate is a deranged and amazing dating sim masquerading as a gacha game... Why would anyone pick this?
Well, Concord did get physical copy releases, but the thing with the ET video game is Atari was convinced that people will play and enjoy ET despite the disastrous development time, so they produced a lot more game cartages for it than they've made the actual console you play it on. Here, yeah they don't make that many game discs these days and even then, they stopped mass-producing the discs as soon as the game was shut down.
Since Concord really loves copying Guardians of the Galaxy designs so much, they should’ve design Emari with better armor and gave her bizarre appearance. Like Rocket Raccoon equivalent of Concord where Emari is a Giant Ground Sloth wearing Space Marine style of armor
I almost felt bad for Sony until I realized they intentionally design their $60 controllers with faulty sticks to ensure we have to pay for repairs, rather than providing high-quality, drift-free controllers from the start
As a black person myself games like these upset me so much. I hate when my entire race is treated like a “collective that needs to be pleased” so they make the absolute worst design possible and say “WELL AT LEAST ITS BLACK 🤪” and call it a day. There’s so much more to a video game and they failed at literally every aspect for the sake of poorly done “inclusion”. Same thing (but on a smaller scale) happened with the Skullgirls devs removing a comb from the white girl’s hair because “only blacks use combs” and “this might allude to racial hate groups”. Pretty ironic they only ended up offending us even more by sticking that comb to only blacks. Like all this nonsense is so annoying. You wanna know how to CORRECTLY add inclusion. Make a black CHARACTER, not a BLACK character. Race should be the lowest concern on the list in terms of their characterization. Miles Morales isn’t a good character because he’s black, he’s a good character because the writers prioritized his real life struggles and characterization above all else. Nagoriyuki isn’t a good character because he’s black. Big Band isn’t a good character because he’s black. Concord is a failure because nobody on the team prioritized making a fun video game. A boring video game is a failed product. And I’m glad they failed. Sincerely, A black person who likes fun video games
Inclusivity in videogames has always been there, no need for woke consultation firms and forced tokenism like the crap we've been getting since 2018. Just look at GTA, the entire franchise is rooted in black culture, yet the videogame journos turn a blind eye on it and call gamers "racists" because they're not willing to spend 40 bucks on a awful bootleg of Overwatch.
I feel personally attacked via the image of a "Canadian House" while he is narrating about what to do with $100,000,000 USD at 0:06 It would cost just that much to renovate the bathroom.
One of them is a single player experience based on a popular format while innovating it to fit a **VERY** popular chinese legend. A chinese legend that is so popular it's made it's way easily into western media and is known everywhere. The other is a no background, boring, ANOTHER live service multiplayer game with a barrier to entry. The math is elementary Watson.
@aickavon yh it's a very simple answer. New IP from a new studio with almost no marketing was doomed to failure over a game based on the most popular story from the countries origin home to 1.4 billion people.
@Mister_KitlerI wouldn't say it had no marketing. Sony marketed the shit out of it. Exclusive controller skins, dev interviews, trailers, different character showcases.... The problem was nobody really gave a shit so it didn't drive ant algorithms
as a developer, my opinion is people working in game development should keep their fuckin mouths shut about how they feel about the hand that feeds them ...
This is why we have community managers, to do exactly this. Rare, V Rising and others have community managers to communicate to the public, devs shouldn't be getting involved in social media or relaying information about the game, community managers should be.
8 years development on what does essentially a world simulator versus a 5v5 shooter is very different. I've always guessed that it originally wasn't a 55 shooter but a character focus adventure game and Sony made them turn it into a 5v5
The character designers of this game ESPECIALLY can’t say a fucking word about how sad they are that this went wrong. They are literally like 97% at fault here.
according to Thor if they never released the game they could have written it off as a research project but because it was released it wont be easy which is hilarious since all the signs said "DO NOT RELEASE IT" but now they gotta reap what they sowed
20:40 actually a lot of people said the gameplay was not fluid at all and everyone has a bunch of health that made it take a really long time to kill. You can’t swap characters mid round which is something most hero shooters can do. If your team chooses the wrong character then you are basically stuck with them. Also if you win a round you will be locked out of playing that character. So if you actually enjoyed playing a character then you will be forced to play a different character.
@TitusSc Funny how something that effectively Japanese in the cutesy factor has more pull than something for a western audience. It's like MegaMan's bad US box art except that's what the game looks like. I think it not being a live service title makes it automatically endearing by default. Helps they have people who don't sabotage themselves publicly.
When I hear "8 years of development" in the AAA space, that's a massive red flag for me. Big studios are expensive to run - if a game is taking 8 years to make, and all that time is active development, you are SHREDDING money. AAA games should take ~3 to 5 years to make depending on the genre, not _8._ The only exception I can think of is Baldur's Gate 3, which I believe took 7, and even that had an early access cycle and came out as an absolutely huge RPG with a ridiculous amount of actually meaningful choices. 8 years to make a 5v5 shooter? That thing is going to be a _disaster,_ I can guarantee it. 8 year dev cycles are something you should only see for small team indie projects that got way too ambitious, not massive AAA blockbusters.
Fun facts: 1) Baldur's gate 3 was in development for 6 years and probably no more than 4.5 years of active development. 2) Baldur's gate 3 had a budget around $100m, which is all what Larian could afford. If the game had failed they would be no more. 3) Baldur's gate 3 had ~500k+ concurrent players at launch and ~900k at peak which is over 1000 times more. 4) Baldur's gate 3 was criticized by some AAA developers for being too good and too honest (no DLC, no paid content etc). Concord was laughed at by everyone for how bad it was. 5) Baldur's gate 3 sold over 20 million copies and people still playing it even a year after the launch. And you can play it solo when servers will be down. Concord was pronounced DOA and had a funeral 2 weeks later, by that time it started to smell even more.
Baldur's Gate 3 also had a great track record of Baldur's Gate 2 & 1, you're willing to let them go the extra mile with their 3rd go at it because they've got the proof they're onto something. But spending 8yrs on brand new IP? Hell no.
I don't know where mujin got his source from, but they are wrong firewalk studio wasn't formed until 2018, so I don't understand how the game could be in development for more than 6 years.
This just makes me a bit concerned about GTA VI then. It's been 11 years sinc ethe last OFFICIAL GTA game came out and 5 years since their last game (RDR2) came out, and its been a tumultuous production with Leslie Benzies and Dan Houser leaving the studio after so many years, plans changing overtime, along with the leaks. I hope it'll actually be good.
the character design is basically the equivalent of Genshin, but the npc's are the playable characters, imagine spending 40$ to play as generic Sumeru researcher #4
To be fair Sony has always struggled with the concept of spending selling more units at a lower cost can make more profit so they always overprice things
we live in a year where -mrbeast is the most evil guy on youtube -famous people exposed as pdf -nikocado avocado bamboozled the entire internet -genshin fans failed to cancel the game another year -overwatch being the better hero shooter among the dogshits what a year man, what a year
Something interesting about concord is that it was a fundraised project from a company called ProbablyMonsters: ProbablyMonsters CEO's name is Harold Ryan, and no, we don't know how he is related to the Jim Ryan because the later never disclosed information about his relatives. Harold Ryan was the former Bungie CEO, he left after the Destiny release (the infamous 500 million dollars game scandal) and created the ProbablyMonsters that consisted from former Bungie employees. After Sony acquired Bungie, the current Bungie employees went on tour through Sony studios to audit the live service games in development (all 12 of them). After that several promising ones were closed due to negative feedback from said employees. At the same time they highly praised Concord that received additional funds after that. After the bad release of the Concord, ProbablyMonsters distanced themselves from the Firewalk studio, created the new studio and even received additional fund from investors. At the same time, Sony received all backlash from bad release and lost a ton of money. Also, Jim Ryan "left" the Sony which suspiciously enough coincided with the Sony's internal investigation about inappropriate fund distribution.
@speed3414 look up for ProbablyMonsters on Google and you will see that they even praised they collected the biggest fundraiser for a project in the history of gaming and also you will see that Harold Ryan is the founder and else.
@speed3414 I think my comment got deleted... Look for ProbablyMonsters on Google, on their website you will know about the investment and how (according to them) is the biggest fundraiser in gaming history
@speed3414 Look for the Prob. Monsters company name on Google, in the main page you will see almost everything bro, idk why my comment is getting deleted over and over...
@jaredjosephsongheng372how do we make that again? - engaging gameplay - community interaction - regular updates - non-intrusive monetization - availability - novelty(?)
@jaredjosephsongheng372they don’t even realize how costly they are to make. Hoyoverse has thousands of employees with multiple teams per game to push updates and contents fast enough to keep their players. If you don’t have that structure to do it your live service game will surely fail in the long run. Or just stick to fan-service games and sell wifu or husbando.
18:07 SSKTJL now No longer has Online Servers but the devs made a gigabased decision in offline patching it. So say what you want about the game being bad but atleast people can still access it's content
And now when Im talking about the beautiful Anglo-French supersonic airliner, I have to tell people "No....Not that Concord..." To qoute one of men in the French side of the project because it applies here extremely well "I did not kill it, it never lived! There was no future for Concord from the beginning!"
It's interesting how both The airliner and the game have a lot in common in that regard. Both teams thought their products were the future, both teams spent a ridiculous amount of money, and both teams products severely underperformed in the market.
The one thing that is really sad to me about this was that this game was actually arguably complete. From gameplay from streamers shown, it wasn't a complete glitch fest. I feel like more producers/studios are gonna take this more as "don't put much effort into games." rather than "ugly characters and hero shooters are over saturated right now."
I read a comment saying even worse. That's this game's failure will give Sony an excuse to say, "Well, people don't like games without microtransactions, so we'll continue to milk our client's pocket out of them"

What do you mean unexpected?
The game's name itself is puzzling to me.... CONCORD? ... like the plane?? ........ why??? People googling it will find that dumb plane and think of that dumb plane Oo
omfg I just tested it for fun! and literally: game, plane, right underneath another! (and beside another in picture search mode) and a burning concord plane is picture 4
HOW FITTING.
Sony saying "we dont have enough IPs" at the same time they released Astro Bot, which pays homage to all their dead IPs, is pure comedy.
So is the time Sony had a furry visual novel as one of their showcase future titles for the PS4, and having that title not only lose to a parody version of itself...but said parody came out nearly 2 years before it did.
@mrbigglezworth42 And then lose to another furry visual novel made by the same people.
"Wanna see me piss off the Canadians?"
"Wani see me do it again?"
@mrbigglezworth42 SNOOT GAME MENTION, GET HIM
And what’s crazy is that Astro Bot was actually pretty popular! The game parodying their dead IP’s did better than their new ones.
There's probably more RUclips videos anaylzing the failures of Concord than there are people who played it
Yep!! 🤣
real lol
fr fr lol
there are more pronouns in the game than there's player of Concord
sometimes you really wonder, those live service games eat up so much of your time, and this was like the 3rd hero shooter? that offers absolutely nothing special
I remembered seeing comment like this:
‘An average life span of a fly is around 15-30 days, this game can’t even outlive a fly.’
It takes more time to watch all of the Simpsons than it took for this game to be alive.
It was like this too once the spanish inquisition discovered any Sodomists.
I miss the old times.
I think it was a danno cal drawing vid
Or even a cicada
My fucking Goldfish lasts longer than Concord
"Sony wondering what gamers want" But turns off comments when people are telling them. You've literally turned off your feedback, free market research. all you had to do is read it.
Whoever pitched Concord to Sony and managed to convince them to purchase the studio is so goated. Bro got that 100 speech and 100 charisma build.
@ryanqube9132 Like selling a town a monorail like a mule in a spinning wheel.
He must be very smooth.
Honk/Honks had 1 Perception, 1 Intelligence and 10 Luck lol
The game wasn't even bad, it was good but good and nothing else. Can't even say much negative about it since the game was so shallow there was not even much to mess up with the game. The game was so generic if concord was free and it would be 2016, Overwatch for 40$ would still dominate the market. Pac-man had deeper storytelling and art designs than this crap called Concord and i mostly blame the art team for it's failure.
You forgot 100 Barter 😂
Concord: 660 peak playercount, $40, shutting down soon
LOTR Gollum: 2000 peak playercount, half the price, still available to play, "at least it's COMICALLY bad"
Wasn’t gollum the same price at launch or even more expensive with the extra content. That was one of the most ridiculous things about it
@HappyPhantom668it was 40, but 60 was still standard so it was more like 30 by todays standards
@dmoonmaster1653well games are 70 dollars now so I kinda get their logic
Gollum won the argument
@dmoonmaster1653???
Wait, wait wait. Astrobot was made in THREE YEARS by 65 DEVS?!?! And Concord's credits supposedly run for an hour long and it took 8 years?!?!
The firewalk studios fired senior workers and promote a lot of new hires into senior ones with a slightly lower pay. It's unavoidable if the work took longer.
They were cheapskates @gokiguni
@gokiguni DEI hires.
Tho to be fair the numbers of devs means not much, and the dev time depends on the type of game too.
And they were closed by SONY too. Definitely L move by Sony
Its now 2025. Let me give you guys a run down of what went on since then
1. Game was sunsetted
Concord was fully shut down, and will not return
2. Firewalk Studios was shut down
Sony shut down Firewalk Studios after Concord's failure, and layed off every employee as a result.
The End
And they probably all failed upwards😅
Oof. There’s failing and then there’s nuclear grade failing.
This is the result of terrible management (Google the executive director, she's woke impersonated). I'm positive that more than one employee raised their hand to provide feedback but was dismissed.
@cabrondemente1 doesn't look like it based on their posts in twitter. each one of them was convinced the game is perfect
@oldcat1790there we're hundreds working on this, only a handful tweeted about it and even less reached a big audience
In other news, Sony secretly increased the price of their PS5 controllers. Yep. We are now paying for their loss of Concord.
Ah yes, "this is what happened when you didn't play our concord" vibes! L Sony is huge
PS Pro too for not having a drive was it xD
PC gamers dont care about Sony.
@erineclairwhat zero competition does to a corporation
I heard the ps 5 controller also have bad build 😂
What's truly poetic, is that the supposed "Fortnight killer" didn't even last a fortnight...
I work for a telecom software company. In our contracts, we were forbidden from representing the company, or speaking as an employee of the company about the company's products. I thought it was weird at the time but as I got more experience, I finally understood why. This is a principle that the gaming industry has yet to learn.
Actually many studios are adding this policy or already have it. Just not all of them.
Same with Helldivers 2 when it first came out. Devs couldn't handle the negative criticism and lash out at the consumers, which in turn generated more. The CEO apparently had to step in to teach them how to be adults. Unfortunately, those man childs are still employed and haven't learned much.
Game dev here. it was in my contract. problem is many people in the industry don't read their contracts. And are habitual NDA violators.
This has happened waaay too much lmao. First it was GoW on my track
@TheYellowAznBoiZwhat happened with HD2? I thought the game was a success
Yeah;;; artist here. Good technical skill unfortunately does not equate to good design fundamentals 😔
I looked at some of the concept art and it looked fine if derivative, but the designs lacked any really unique character. Then by the time of modeling and rigging the already flawed core designs were made even more generic, forgettable and fugly, in many cases probably because the original design was too complex or had too many moving parts. Terrible planning and execution on the art direction.
they were probably slowly "forced" into these designs, like that episode where homer designs a car
2024 is such a fever dream with all of these unexpected issues 😭
Right now, the content has been on fire
2024 has become so special in a...very negative way 💀
@Theakonlaw Infinite contents right there
Too true lol
Unexpected.... Well welcome back from the moon I guess...
"They say they don't know because they chose to ignore or to not accept...but it was there..." People saying now "unexpected" simply have been blind for the last 10 years but well... I do know the reason... It's so much ez to ignore unpleasant things and to learn more... It's so easy to just walk ur daily routine.
Fun fact. It wasnt just the players Sony refunded, but also EVERY physical copy bought by Gamestop, Walmart, Target, etc.
Holy heck, that's CATASTROPHIC. D:
OK, HOW DID THEY FUCK IT UP *THAT* BADLY?! It was so bad, even major retailers HAD to be refunded!
@djbl19984 If you think transportation costs is a "small" cost, you are SORELY mistaken. Sincerely, someone who works in the international transportation of goods industry.
There are so many things about Concord. Such as
- The Devs calling people who criticize the game Talentless Freaks
- Spending 200+ Million Dollars and 8 years to make, only to shut it down in a few days
- The Average Housefly lived longer than the game
- The New Mario and Luigi officially announcing that the main area of the game is called Concordia
Easily one of the Biggest L in gaming.
And how sony will save minus $200M? PS5 Pro starting from 700 bucks of course! Typical sony
Nah, the biggest L was threatening to quit game development entirely. Which is surely like me threatening to not compete in the next summer Olympics…
@lawjef This summer Olympics in Paris???
And Astro Bot (another PlayStation IP) selling more AND is more liked than Concord.
Whoa definitely looking into that now! The shortest I’d heard of was a MuvLuv mecha mobile game that died in like less than 1 day 😂
Oh my god, someone actually remembered the culling!
It's funny how the Day Before was one of the most (or THE most?) Wishlisted games on steam and has been memory-holed into oblivion even harder than Concord.
the chat spamming "L" in the state of play is so funny 💀💀💀💀
In fairness, these days pretty any game that isn’t a massive sequel/remake or whatever will get people spamming L/Z in these kinds of shows, it’s why I never have chat open for those events anymore
(Not saying it happening to Concord wasn’t warranted, it just happens to a majority of games showcased)
seeing this game fail was so funny because the developers were so arrogant expecting fully for it to be a success and disregarding any valid criticism
This is what happens when a studio relies on Sweet Baby Inc. as a consultant.
@highbread817bruh imagine looking at this shitshow and going "lol woke L" instead of laughing at sony execs for being greedy. u probably count the money for those corporate shills and thank them for stealing ur money too lol
@LoquendoversoIT nothing can be done correctly if criticism can't be made
8 years down the drain.
Imagine being surprised that you might lose your job because of your incompetence, and then wanting empathy from the people you constantly patronize and demonize. Their logic is flawless and the irony of them calling people, i quote, « talentless freaks » speaks for itself.
@Neil.02 That and incompetence.
There is no reason for a hero shooter to take 8 years in a Post-TF2 world nor cost an eye-watering amount for a live service game.
Honestly you guys are not talentless freaks, they are. What you are is sensitive crybabies
Those overwatch designs are also terrible tbf
@crim1188 At least Overwatch managed to capture the attention of nsfw artists. This vid is so right, even if there's a small market for fat fetish content, nobody would touch those chunky tubs of lard from Concord.
Tbh she's one of the cuter characters in overwatch
dont be sorry about them, they asked for this, they even blame you for their failure
@MS3-v4y your obsessvly following all their twitter profiles?
it is actually mind-blowing that a company that has grown so big would not understand basic sales strategies to this extend: releasing something 8 years after it's trend, asking money for it when competition is free, insulting your target audience, shutting out feedback and still thinking those same people saying the game is bad, will buy your game ...
@rayvenkman2087 Is this Sony's Finger Poke of Doom?👉🏻☠
@tradefort_1990 I’d say Last of Us Part II was the finger poke of doom with how everything went surrounding it and what’s come out since. Like the infamous event itself, it didn’t lead to an overnight death but it certainly marked a noticeable decline from there.
It’d be more accurate to say Concord is Sony’s own Kevin Nash WCW Thunder Blood Bath moment and just as big of a miss.
@rayvenkman2087 Guess we'll be waiting for the next flop to compare it to Vince announcing he just bought WCW😅.
Killzone fucking died for this
Sony's like the average RUclips gaming essayist acting like the entirety of gaming is dead by hyperfocusing on crappy AAA game releases while blatantly ignoring genuinely amazing indie games.
When you can't even make rule 34 bait of your characters in your hero shooter, you know you've messed up.
The ones who made R34 art of Concord only made it after the game shut down, and only so that not even a game that unpopular could break the rule.
@kranichkroneWell, it had the rule 35 applied to do that
Still doesn't have a lot of R34 compared to some obscure/ foreign works that at least have triple the amount.
@observerf-03p.d39it has at least 3 pages full on the "funny green website" now.
I'm disappointed that half of it is the lizard girl and only 2 pics of the green guy :(
I used to think "Suicide squad: kill the justice league" was the worst game, but I was wrong, because Concord took that title 💀
that game only cost money in one queue! While concord cost sony instantly that they will sell ps5 pro starting from 700 bucks each 😂
bro that game is so terrible,
that it makes suicide squat go from 0 ⭐to 0.01⭐ of the game!
I wouldn’t even say the suicide squad is that bad. Yeah, it’s a shit game, but it has a decent foundation.
Dustborn anyone?
@rayvenkman2087 yeah. Gameplay wise, concord is better than Dustborn (just a bit )
The video game "Sex with Hitler 2" did 3 and a half times more concurrent than did Concord.
Put that into perspective.
🤣
I forgot that was a game on steam… 💀
Same with "Sex with Stalin" and even Lord of the Rings - Gollum had over 100 more all time Player than Concord. 😂
damn, sex with hitler was so good it got a sequel
Tbf, it’s a pretty sick game
28:30 she's not wrong in saying the execs dodge a lot of the blame for big failures like this
A lot of the character designs would've been massively improved just by using different colors. It honestly seems like they just used a random color generater and hit "fill" on various parts of their design. Bright blue lipstick with bright pink accents on a dirty green armor suit? What were they thinking?
@zogwort1522Where did you get that from? I was looking for their backstories because I knew it would be hilariously bad.
The pyromacer character did not use any reds, oranges, yellows, or anything else to indicate she was a pyromancer.
I would argue it wasn't, I actually used ai as reference, and it gives you mid pallets that you yourself can elevate.
What Concord likely did is they went against every single design philosophy, thinking they were revolutionising
Come to think of it, the trashcan being yellow propably made it the one design that was not universally disliked. Imagine it had been purple.
I swear I’ve seen you before
One of my friends called Concord "Diet Overwatch" when the trailer first came out, he was ecstatic and dying of laughter when we found out Concord was getting pulled on 6th.
Surprisingly, the Biggest L in Video Game History goes to: Sony
*EA
Thats the biggest L we consumers ever took@dpicks24
Imagine if they just used that money to improve and cheapen up their console manufacturing.
Heck it might be better to use that money and give away their consoles to schools as "educational equipment" to get kids hooked earlier like what Apple did with their computers.
their refusal to make more Prototype and Infamous games already gives them an L.
@dpicks24 Nah, it's sony. As much as I hate how predatory EA is, they still make money. Sony however, not only failed at concord and sell PS5 pro at $700, they still have fairgame$ still under development and most likely going to fail too
24:51 and now it won the GOTY
The milk in my fridge lasted longer than Costa Concord
my almond milk lasted longer
IGN tried to drag Wukong down and praised Concord for being an Overwatch clone with questionable design choices... How the turn tables
And somehow IGN and every other modern audience gaming media outlet is still in business. You should really ask why.
Chinese game, with Chinese actors, in a Chinese setting, following Chinese mythology isn't diversity it seems.
They did the same thing with space marine 2 lmao
How the turns have tabled*
IGN is trash
I didnt even know the game existed until it died. But the audacity to charge for the game when you already had to pay for PSN is pure tomfoolery.
I feel so bad for the hundreds of devs who really worked hard to make the game just for it to flop. You know that they work hard, and it sucks to see them flop. They should have advertised it. I didn't even know about it either.
1:26 Don't call me out like that, dude.
Same lol
If you don't understand why the design is so bad, some art channel break it down (and spoiler a head, all of them said it was that bad) my fav is sungrand studio
Sungrand and TBSkyen both do great breakdowns of it
I think players actually PREFER ugly characters... when they can create their own character!
And what's funny that Valve's new hero shooter (Deadlock) has currently way more players than concord had on launch, and Valve's game is currently in "invite-only beta"
Way more is an understatement. You mean hundreds of times more than Concord's peak could ever eke out.
It's because they offer you something more than just being another hero shooter with different universe. They actually play a lot more like a moba.
What's more interesting is that the game is still in early development
Character's model are still janky, some texture are still not finished, but they got the gameplay right
Deadlock is a moba, not a hero shooter. It's not because there's selectable characters and shooting it's a hero shooter.
@Doctorpeppen Yeah, this is something that lots of people got it wrong
If one were to be really specific, Deadlock is 3rd person Dota, the simplest explanation for that game
The success of Marvel Rivals shows that the failure of Concord was solely due to its character design
Ugliest characters I've seen in a game in recent memory.
It wasn't, it did help but the 40 dollar price tag, the lack of good marketing, the development helI and the bad faith of their creators helped a lot more.
@zeusalternative1270the Marvel Rivals characters are hot. That’s it. That’s literally it.
@Xavast Marvel Rivals is free, has widely known and loved characters, had a concret direction during development and the developers don't openly insult their players but instead try to listen to their community.
Remove all of those things and Rivals falls, no matter how hot their characters.
16:09
The "I'm doing this for me, not for you," defense only works for personal projects, like fan art and fanfics. It doesn't work when it's your career on the line.
You see sony wasn’t this bad when the headquarters were in Tokyo .
That's the DEI agenda working out. Not my opinion, just facts.
Reminds me of a certain Aerospace corporation that moved its headquarters, resulting in a giant shift of priorities and tanking their reputation....
U.S is garbage what you expect XD
yes this game was made by the usual suspect country, actual japanese people hate woke western games
But there still based in Tokyo tho?
Imagine following up on that Concord shitshow by releasing an overprized and almost completely redundant "upgrade" to your current gen console, which didn't even have the chance to fully flex it's tech yet. Yeah, Sony is really farming those L's right now.
Sony X Nijisanji collabs make way more sense now
Even less bc of no bloodborne 2
At least we can play Astro Bot as an alternative to this dead on arrival PlayStation game.
PS1-2 was Sony peak
And to make it worse... the Disc drive for it is not even coming with the console but is freaking OPTIONAL >_> Even the plastic stand costs way more than it should. I swear, Sony has absolutely lost it and it seems all they do all day long is licking some weird toads.
21:51 venture is my goat I love them I think that their appearance is fine and attractive even
justice for venture, we all love venture 😭❤️
@juh_neon1996venture is cute I’m deadass serious about them being attractive they are NOT ugly💔💔🥀
He said she's not "conventionally" attractive, which means a small percentage of people might still find her attractive. Though that's basically the same as being unattractive. Hell, a small percentage of people out there are genuinely attracted to women eating actual shit.
REAL!!!!
*insert TF2 and other FPS class-based games now dancing on the Concord grave*
TF2 being kept alive by the fans because Valve has horrendous ADHD when it comes to supporting their games.
@DHeritor valve has been chained to TF2 for like, 16 years.
We can officially say that Paladins outlived Concord
@Danny-mp8dq Deadlock outlived Concord and it even hadn't been born
Jokes aside, its amazing how even the NSFW artist or the rule 34 artist DONT want to even touch this game, its insane, those damn animals can make anything into porn But this game... THIS GAME IS A EXCEPTION and i find that insane
louis rossmann once said "your software sucks if people don't even wanna pirate it" and i think we can draw parallels to it, terrible games and r34 artists
if your media franchise is absolutely f&&king terrible, not even artists of any capacity will ever draw it at all
@lysenthe its amazing, Weve reached the lowest of the low for R34 standards and for Sony's Media Franchise, this year is a fever dream
I've always thought that r34 artists have no standards at all.
Guess Sniper is right after all. Professionals have STANDARDS.
@reknostarfox4690 artists are artists, they do what they wanna do but they have some things they'd never touch with a 5,000 kilometer iron pole
concord is one of them
Even Battleborn ended up getting Rule 34 art.
People like attractive characters in games, who knew?
@ResidentWeevil2077 Or people just want a fun game. Literally any character in Rivals can be used by a beginner to demolish the other team, meaning anyone can pick it up. It's just fun.
@ResidentWeevil2077 I mean there's games where the characters could be ugly as shit and it wouldn't really matter, like Watch Dogs or something. But some genres of games live and die by how fuckable their characters are, and hero shooter is one of those genres
@mmyees1167 I hate how you're not even wrong lol
a housefly has double the lifespan of concord.
let that sink in
And infinitely more useful since at least a housefly can serve as food to some living being (e.g spiders)
It's amazing how Astrobot is the complete opposite of Concord in every way.
I love how firewalk just concord all over the place
Edit: it is impressive that concord became an exception to rule34
Good lord, it's so bad there's no R34...
....I have no words, just 🍿
There are others. A fighting game called Fantasy Strike. Not only is there literally no NSFW art, there's not even any fanart. I searched everywhere and saw like one or two pictures on Deviantart.
Also a bunch Chinese and Korean manhua/manwha
anyone who mentions r34 is a virgin lol
@vatsordie you also mentioned it.
Overwatch:pornography
TF2:Gay Pornography
Concord: No Pornography
18:57 Concord has fans?!?
The 10 people playing every day
LMFAOOO NOT THE CANADIAN HOUSING MARKET CATCHING A STRAY 3 SECONDS INTO THE VIDEO 😭😭😭
Do you have ANY idea how BAD character design needs to be, for the entire community of R34 to just say "No, we won't make corn outta this shit". No no, seriously, can you even fathom how BAD it has to be, for the most degenerate community REFUSING to do anything with it. That's.......really, really bad.
Fucking Roadhog from overwatch has way more porn how can you mess character design this bad
Dont call the community degenerates, im sure you watch corn too. Someones gotta makw it.
Why would anyone pick this?
as a nearly check, still not have any of C game on r34
You type like you’re annoying irl
Remember. Senran Kagura died for this.
Now it's been reduced to a region locked gacha game on JP. Never forget, never forgive.
well at least there's one positive outcome
@thekroomfster You're even worse than concord.
@thekroomfster you look like that one fat character from Concord
@side7oldtype298Sony never be make Genshin made by Japan originals without politician IP
Another reason its a shame games don't have physical copies anymore:
We can't go bury Concord in the desert and dig em up years later like ET. lol
Nah... Emari's design is actually your "we have Doom Guy at home"
@Civic_R I see that now 😂
And then there's Dustborn that farts out Professor 8-Cueball the Woman With No Legs.
Best i can do is an effeminate they/them vacuum cleaner.
Emari's armor is all wrong. If anything it isn't bulky enough, if you can believe that.
Omg if anyone went back in time to tell an internet user from 2021 what happened this year, they would probably go into shock😭
You know a game is a failure when R34 artists don't even make art of your characters.
true
SERIOUSLY?!?! But I thought there was "No Exceptions" in the land of R34.
I suppose, maybe, one day. Lol.
@HoneyBunny-69
No exceptions ≠ no guarantee
@HoneyBunny-69At the time of me writing this R34 barely has 40 entries of Concord. So yeah even the artists couldn't salvage this game.
@taylorcrawford4387 What "artist" is wasting his time on this crap?
I had more fun staring into a blank wall than I had playing Concord.
Did you hallucinate?
@Halfcrabs Probably
honestly seems weird to see someone who actually played the game, you're part of an secret group in my book
I almost felt bad for Sony until I realized they intentionally design their $60 controllers with faulty sticks to ensure we have to pay for repairs, rather than providing high-quality, drift-free controllers from the start
Manufactured obsolescence is not unique to Sony if you think otherwise I'm sorry
@alcookedrawjust because it’s not unique doesn’t make it not shitty???
Switch is worse
All console makers do it
You’re only going to shit on Sony?? That isn’t fair every console maker does it. I think Nintendo screws us off though ngl
Sincerely,
A black person who likes fun video games
Inclusivity in videogames has always been there, no need for woke consultation firms and forced tokenism like the crap we've been getting since 2018.
Just look at GTA, the entire franchise is rooted in black culture, yet the videogame journos turn a blind eye on it and call gamers "racists" because they're not willing to spend 40 bucks on a awful bootleg of Overwatch.
Man's spitting fax
Remember Mualani from Genshin using Maracas is also racist
@LoquendoversoIT Fully agree, and people like these muddy the waters of regular people just trying to speak their minds
@Freestyle80 I’m not really educated on that topic. Mind elaborating on how the maracas are racist?
This year is literally every corporations nightmare.
I like the sound of that.
Speaking of that...
@kingofcrap4414haha facts
I'm all for a character-driven approach to a story, but dang, there has to be, like, character to drive the story.
I feel personally attacked via the image of a "Canadian House" while he is narrating about what to do with $100,000,000 USD at 0:06
It would cost just that much to renovate the bathroom.
Maybe in a smaller city. In Toronto, you'd be lucky to be able to renovate a closet.
Concord took 8 years and was a flop. Black myth wukong took 6 and a half years, broke a steam record. Wtf went wrong
@aickavon not even a *VERY* popular Chinese legend, but a national cult classic
@aickavon Concord have ugly people, wukong have hot ladies
as a developer, my opinion is people working in game development should keep their fuckin mouths shut about how they feel about the hand that feeds them ...
This is why we have community managers, to do exactly this. Rare, V Rising and others have community managers to communicate to the public, devs shouldn't be getting involved in social media or relaying information about the game, community managers should be.
While these devs were shitty, you’re giving off big “shut up and dribble” vibes 🙃
@NoShouldersCat still better than Concord's trashass devs
I didn't even know Concord existed until the Big Flop happened and everyone was covering it on YT.
"Eight years to come out"
GTA VI - shut up and hold my beer!
8 years development on what does essentially a world simulator versus a 5v5 shooter is very different. I've always guessed that it originally wasn't a 55 shooter but a character focus adventure game and Sony made them turn it into a 5v5
@Grandman122 Yeah, I wonder if there is a prototype copy of Concord that shows this
The fact that Suicide Squad is still alive and Concord died faster than Christian Slater's career is wild. 💀
9:50 "GET TO THE FNAF STUFF" holy shit, they screwed up hard
The character designers of this game ESPECIALLY can’t say a fucking word about how sad they are that this went wrong.
They are literally like 97% at fault here.
1:33 Accept your viewer base Mujin. This is the community you built after all.
according to Thor if they never released the game they could have written it off as a research project but because it was released it wont be easy which is hilarious since all the signs said "DO NOT RELEASE IT" but now they gotta reap what they sowed
According to who?
@CaptainLav199 Obviously speaking about Thor, the god of thunder.
Presumably PirateSoftware, aka Lord Maldavius, aka Maldavius Figtree, actual name Jason Thor Hall
@paulsd9255 Lol. Imagine taking advice from a literal roach.
Jason? Pirate Software? That jackass could tell me the sky is blue and I'd still call BS on it
Babe wake up Mujin just dropped a new video
20:40 actually a lot of people said the gameplay was not fluid at all and everyone has a bunch of health that made it take a really long time to kill. You can’t swap characters mid round which is something most hero shooters can do. If your team chooses the wrong character then you are basically stuck with them. Also if you win a round you will be locked out of playing that character. So if you actually enjoyed playing a character then you will be forced to play a different character.
Astro Bot is genuinely so good. Also the team behind this game is an absolute gem, I like everything about what they stand for
@TitusSc Funny how something that effectively Japanese in the cutesy factor has more pull than something for a western audience. It's like MegaMan's bad US box art except that's what the game looks like.
I think it not being a live service title makes it automatically endearing by default. Helps they have people who don't sabotage themselves publicly.
sony should just stop outsourcing to west and go back to japan. capcom did this and they're back
“Thank you Mujin” we all say in unison
Fun facts:
1) Baldur's gate 3 was in development for 6 years and probably no more than 4.5 years of active development.
Hell no.
Sir, would you like know more about Team Fortress 2, a game was in a 9 years of development?
I don't know where mujin got his source from, but they are wrong firewalk studio wasn't formed until 2018, so I don't understand how the game could be in development for more than 6 years.
This just makes me a bit concerned about GTA VI then. It's been 11 years sinc ethe last OFFICIAL GTA game came out and 5 years since their last game (RDR2) came out, and its been a tumultuous production with Leslie Benzies and Dan Houser leaving the studio after so many years, plans changing overtime, along with the leaks. I hope it'll actually be good.
Being in game development and hating players is like being a teacher when you hate kids
...and then calling all the kids stupid freaks because a student asked a question about something you're teaching.
30:23 does this mean you will make video about Dustborn next? lol
Sony: This is the worst game we ever made
Everyone: The worst game you ever made "so far"
the character design is basically the equivalent of Genshin, but the npc's are the playable characters, imagine spending 40$ to play as generic Sumeru researcher #4
it's even worse. I've seen r34 of genshin npc (real)
r34 didn't even touch concord somehow???
@mitacestalia7532that hippo does not look fuckable in the slightest
Upper echelon and Angry Joe are hate Genshin impact and never played to tryout
To be fair Sony has always struggled with the concept of spending selling more units at a lower cost can make more profit so they always overprice things
Let's prepare our snacks to see another company failing again 🥞🍿🍿🥂🍩
Oh, and don't forget that the developers will BLAME THE PLAYERS for their game failing.
This came out less than 24 hours after the PS5 Pro's announcement hmmm.....
0:38 there's a new contender on the block called Avowed, they're speed running to bankruptcy.
And now we have.. mindseye
I would say something about Highguard but uh.
We'll see if that lasts longer.
we live in a year where
-mrbeast is the most evil guy on youtube
-famous people exposed as pdf
-nikocado avocado bamboozled the entire internet
-genshin fans failed to cancel the game another year
-overwatch being the better hero shooter among the dogshits
what a year man, what a year
and the year isn't even over yet 😅
there were less people who realy boycotted Hoyo than Concord players.
2024 feels like there was some bug in the matrix
Launching a hero shooter is hard, you have to compete with overwatch's nsfw
what did avocado do again
-$400,000,000 actually.
Hilarious mate
Sony : Where modern audiences?
21:32 without looking, I answered yes. Then I looked up, startled, "Ay no!"
Whenever a studio says "for a modern audience" and the dev starts insulting people you know it's going to flop hard
Whenever someone complains about "modern audiences" you know they are a racist and sexist bigot
yup
In my mind "for a modern audience" is equivalent to "Diabolo Immortal level of microtransactions"
Something interesting about concord is that it was a fundraised project from a company called ProbablyMonsters:
ProbablyMonsters CEO's name is Harold Ryan, and no, we don't know how he is related to the Jim Ryan because the later never disclosed information about his relatives.
Do you have a source for that? I understand that youtube hates links on comments so you can just tell me what to Google instead
The Sony 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 😂 😂😂 Englisl plz
Sony: we’ll be making 12 live services in the next couple of years. We’ll be invincible!
Hoyoverse: awww, how cute. (Grabs popcorn and some mora)
Live service games are really good, unfortunately most devs don't seem to realize how to make a good Live Service Game.
@jaredjosephsongheng372how do we make that again?
- engaging gameplay
- community interaction
- regular updates
- non-intrusive monetization
- availability
- novelty(?)
Even Limbus Company who's doing power point live streaming is more thriving than concord. 😭
They're indies developer!
@jaredjosephsongheng372 Service games are good if ...
18:07 SSKTJL now No longer has Online Servers but the devs made a gigabased decision in offline patching it. So say what you want about the game being bad but atleast people can still access it's content
Nothing better than a mujin video
