I work at Goodwill. It's dangerous, stressful, and exhausting. But, I'm sure the same goes for other retail. It's the world we live in, so I'm grateful I can work, and will retire soon.
I guessed the "what is it question" bamboo old fishing pole. That is nice. I have a few of those! Didn't know about the worth. We used to fish with those. Thanks for the video.
Goodwill on line store is like ebay. Who wants to pay shipping? I want to shop in real stores not on line. I want to try things out or try on clothes. You can't do that on line! Who the heck wants to pay Goodwill for shipping?
Theft is pretty bad in Winnipeg,Mb, Canada right now. Quite a few 7 elevens are having to go out of business amongst other retailers as well. The police aren’t much help
What?!? I loved going to union square when we lived there! But I understand. My daughter lived in the east bay and worked in the city. She loved to walk from bart to her office but kept being chased by homeless people. So she started riding the bus for just the few blocks.
YOU wouldn't recognize it. Without MACY's that was the anchor. Christmas in Union square was simply beautiful. It really is sad to see that they have let it crumble. Letting a segment of the population ruin a true icon of a city is unacceptable.
@@goldenstatepicker That's terrible. I remember when Macy's, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom were there. I worked at The Limited across the street from Macy's and went to FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design and Merch.) down the street. I walked everywhere. There was never a place to park. lol I was young. I could handle walking out and down all of those hills back then. 😅
Love the videos mike. 4 words......blue state sanctuary city. 😂 i figured out why stores are closing or why they have crime issues. (Terrible I'm sorry) appreciate the videos
I had a whole bunch of Missals when I first started selling on Ebay at the beginning of the year that I had saved up from various estate sales mostly (I found they were not really easy to sell on Amazon). The ones that sold for the most were ones in Latin. The best one I sold for $300 (on a best offer, I think it could go for a bit more). It was Missale Romanum Ex Decreto 1957 USA Liturgical Ed. Benziger Brothers Latin. I often find these at estate sales and no one pays attention to them. I've sold all the Missals I've put up except the St. Joseph ones. Those seem to be less sought after and more common. The ones sold include 3 different St. Andrews missals, 1 Saint Isaac Jogues, 1 New Marian Missal, 1 Catholic Girls Manual and Sunday Missal. A lot have gone overseas to Europe. Very nice illustrations in them. Mostly form 1950s/60.
Hey Mike, Spent quite a bit of time in California in the service. My first tour was at a Radar site, Cambria AFS (Air Force Station) in Cambria, Ca. Beautiful site on the coast mid way between SF and LA. A few of us went up to Day on the green at Oakland stadium in 77 to see The Eagles, Steve Miller Band, Heart, ARS and Foreigner...I think The Firm snuck in there also. I think it was like $10 to get in. We also toured the San Francisco area and had some great Chinese food! The city was beautiful and safe.... I wouldn't do it today....sooo sad! My second tour was at March AFB in Moreno Valley 1986. Another really nice place....until the gangs showed up. I retired there and couldn't wait to leave in 94'. It was terrible what that town had become. As I say this we are (re) planning a trip to Morro bay/Cambria for March '25. I just hate that are big beautiful cities are off the list of places to visit because of crime....and I'll leave it at that. Really enjoy your videos, always learn a bunch...Thanks!!
I go to Cambria. AMAZING. Nice town with antiques etc. Plus easy drive to HEARST CASTLE. I went to so many DAY ON THE GREENS. AC/DC TWICE with Bon Scott, Zeppelin, Skynyrd, Aerosmith and VAN HALEN FIRST TOUR. Unreal times. We say it but it truly was a great period in our lives. Just so much different these days.
Nice finds and great sales! Our new warehouse is all set up and running. We are back in the city, and closer to my mom and dad's place... we are still trying to sell our house but it's a buyers market now, values dropped about $300k, if the banks don't lower the rates I see another $200k drop in prices as there are many houses for sale here... my realtor told me they have 3yrs of inventory! A lot of people walking away from their homes! Sad reality 😢! Homeless situation is out of hand here in Canada 🇨🇦 too! Tents ⛺ everywhere! Crimes way up! The whole system needs to change, including tribunals for these criminal politicians! They want total control over the people with bringing in communism all over the world 🌎! Terribly heinously overpriced in Los Angeles area... the last place I look ---possibly bin stores might be better but they're too far away...Laxvespa-LosAngeles
We went to San Francisco for our 15 year anniversary 2.5 years ago. We did the tourist "bus tour" since we didn't have a car. that area was terrible we didn't even get off the bus in that area. One night we went out for dinner in another area and didn't feel very comfortable walking back to our hotel.
Good riddance. I rarely ever shop Goodwill stores as their prices are too high, and they siphon off their best items for the Goodwill auction site. I do still shop Goodwill bin stores, as I have found deals there.
Bins I always find good stuff to list. And stores... sometimes as well. Last run I did... I found some great stuff to include a beetles record and some really good 8tracks.
Hey Mike. If you by chance have the European Amazon accounts in status 'deactivated' like I do you might want to check performance manager in one of them to see if they're requesting you to complete registration. If you don't have them, or they're in status closed you're good. If they're in status deactivated but they haven't requested anything yet you can request to close them and hopefully avoid what happened to me today. I got deactivated on all my accounts today. And after talking to a rep on the phone I found out that Amazon Europe is going through and making any deactivated accounts go through the registration process. Mine had been sitting deactivated for two years. 😂 Anyhow the fix is you go through the process and then you screenshot the resolution you get to Amazon US. Hope none of this applies to you. Just a heads up. Because the rep said a lot of people are getting deactivated for this.
It's a fake reason, they have closed all locations on long island, NY which has the safest county in the country. They have abandoned their original mission and moved everything to their online store for profit. It's a shame.

Well one other problem is they ask way too much for some of the stuff.
I got one of those vaccums a few months ago. I parted it out $90 for the canister $70 for the hose! Sold fairly quickly.

I despise Goodwill, it has destroyed the 2nd hand community. Their auction sites make me nauseous.
It's quite amazing what they are selling there.
Goodwill on line store is like ebay. Who wants to pay shipping? I want to shop in real stores not on line. I want to try things out or try on clothes. You can't do that on line! Who the heck wants to pay Goodwill for shipping?
Or is goodwill putting the good stuff online, so when going into a store, the shelves are empty, no revenue will make a store not profitable.
That is part of the problem also. They are taking from one and paying for another.
Ty❤

I think the main reason stores are closing right now is greed and pretty soon all sales will be moved online so all exchanges can be monitored.

The bins and retail store has the same customer that steal from it everyday.
