The 4th quarter has been better than I expected. I reached my yearly projection a couple of months ago. This year I wanted to cut back a little, so being down most of the year 15% was okay. The first half of December, I am up 10% from last year. My current ASP for 2024 is $136. I have 5 local sourcing locations that I alterate weekly. There is never a shortage of new inventory. Ebay is way too easy, compared to working a regular job. If only I was a younger man, I could .......
Playing catch-up on videos due to a couple of solid weeks with family!! Good video Mike as always and I hope you and your family had a blessed Christmas!! 4Q24 has been strange as has the entire year. I'll end up about 10% ahead on number if items sold, but since my ASP was lower this year, I'll end up flat on revenue. And you're so right, you can't worry about it. If you only chase the $$$, you'll never be successful, but if you love what you do and have fun with it, the $$$ will come. Wishing you and yours a Happy, Safe & Peaceful New Year!!
Merry Christmas to you and your family! Our 4th quarter sales are ok, overall we are down 50% because of our family situation taking care of my mom and dad... looking forward to 2025 to recover our sales as we are in our new warehouse closer to my mom and dad! It's a rough year! We are blessed to be able to take care of them every day and grateful for that 🙏! We don't take anything for granted and pray 🙏 for our family and friends 🙏! Have a great Christmas with your family! Joe Bee 🐝 from 🇨🇦 🍁 🇨🇦 Canada!
I am having a good 4 th quarter and year. I am up 41% over last year at this time and was even prior to 4Q. I have been working hard on growing my business.
I just got back from buying a huge Jurassic Park collection. The lady that I bought it from...I found on Facebook about 5 years ago. The Collection is absolutely insane, and without networking and knowing her, I would have never been able to buy it. My biggest piece of advice for people is to network! If a collection like this was given to the local Goodwill, none of it would have been for sale in-store and immediately sent to their online business
Im at $74k since Sept 1. It has felt very slow but I decided to increase ASP last year because the busy work became tedious. Now I am bored. Im not sure what to do differently next year. I just checked the same time period for 2023. My sales were $66k so 2024 is beating 2023. Interesting since it sure doesn't like it.
Great comment about having media / tapes for testing. I just gor a blu-ray 3d yesterday because I sell a lot of 3d dvd players and did have a 3d disc to fully test it with.
My 4th quarter is going meh. I need to start listing to bump up my sales. Today I got a very low ball offer which ticked me off. I get so sick of low ball offers. I got a $3 bill on a $19.99 book not long ago which makes me crazy. I need to list, list, list, list which will boost the algorithm.
Paper items are great. I have over 2,200 print ads, postcards and trading listed. Takes next to no room. Plus I can get an old magazine for .50 or less at an estate sale get 20 plus print ads and list those for over $9.99 each typically. Real long tail but the profit margin is huge
You are one of my favorites Mike. Im just starting out but shipping is confusing. Love your videos. Maybe tou can do a cideo of you sourcing at Saversnor garage sales? I saw you show up on a video of Locker Nutz. Like your bin of books videos. I live in Jersey. The two Goodwill’s near me are so unorganized and dirty and they try to price things like you’re buying a piece of junk like it’s new.
Yeah shipping can be confusing, but really not that hard. I just think small, medium and large and categorize them that way. I only use 1-5 standard shipping as that allows me to choose which company to ship with. i use media mail for books etc and GROUN ADVANTAGE for most items under 2 llbs.
I look for Mah Jongg Sets at every thrift. Sometimes you can find just a few replacement pieces or the cards needed for play. Always good sellers. FYI... pronounced Ma - like mama
I'm new to this picking/thrifting reselling world. I'm trying to watch and learn so that I don't make too many mistakes when it comes to buying items to resell. I don't know much about brands of clothes or books right now, but I hope that I will learn as time goes on. I just quit my job of 20 years at the end of November due to too much chronic stress so I am trying to find other ways to earn money to make up for the loss of income that are less stressful and on my own terms.
its my best of the year, but I really just started legit eBay selling in 2024 ... I also moved from listing 5 a day to 10 a day in the last month, with help from my daughter!
I resell clothing and last November and December were the softest months of the year. So this year I diversified and added media and small hard goods and this November was double last year and looks like December will be the same. Thanks for all the knowledge you pass on.
I just threw away an olympus pearl corder that did not work. Shoot! Should have checked to see if it would sell for parts. This was microcassette corder week as I sold 4. Sure wish I had a Savers close by. My q4 sales are a fair bit slower than I expected. They are just kind of normal. Merry Christmas and safe travels. Thanks for all the good information.
Really cool looking Bible. I love that old magazine too, I got to think to myself would the auction professor cut out the adverts and sell them separately? Cheers Graham
I think my 4th quarter is a little self sabotaged. I've been reselling for 7 months or so. I have 15k every 90 days revolving. But I tried to set up my shipping policies and I think I messed them up. That and I have no store policies. Does it scare away potential buyers?
I'm a savage when it comes to sourcing, connections, buying, collecting etc. I don't listen to other resellers thoughts on a place to source especially if we are in the same niche. I had bad experiences with this and trust no one. Example my so called reselling friend telling me a certain Goodwill doesn't put jewelry lots out on a certain date. Found out it was a lie the whole time and the day they usually put new lots out was the day he told me don't bother going. Pretty Fd up, he seemed like a genuine friend but that wasn't the only time he had deterred me from going somewhere.
Right, my company policy of 36 yrs retail is NEVER disclose suppliers, sources, etc. has proven to be highly useful. If you think about it it’s like disclosing that is like sharing trade secrets. I just won’t.
My worse 4th quarter of all time. I have a store with 1400 listings but it doesn't matter. I've been a part time reseller for 15 years. I've always listed 2 to 5 listings daily. I have a full-time job. I don't expect big returns since I don't put enough time into it. I list a variety of items , used vintage and some new stuff....the same kind of stuff for 15 years. But this 4th quarter has been the worse of all time. I actually did ok up until mid november. all of the sudden a big drop. My sales were better in the summer if you can believe that. In all previous years it did'nt matter if I listed or not, in late november and early December stuff would sell non stop. Not this year. Oh well.
My sales dropped at exactly the same point in November on Ebay and Amazon. Also, similar in some physical stores I sell in (my own and a few vendor stores)
When you are on vacation, do you generally place your store on time away or do you just extend out handling time? I’ve heard sales drastically slow on time away vs. extended handling time but would love your opinion. Thanks.
Handling time stays the same. 4 days. I then put it on sale and allow sales. This trip trickier. Will shut down 4 days then pop up open and store on sale. Gone three weeks so it is harder as Ebay only allows 15 days to have actual sales.
Amazon FBM for me was really good from August through November 15. Then it went way down. Posting not quite as much, but a decent amount... I think they push FBA to keep up profits and productivity at warehouses and FBM sells if you have enough rare books (in my instance) that no FBA seller has on offer. Ebay is down a bit too despite my putting a good amount up (have more items than I've had before). I think it will go up after the holidays when people start spending money on themselves again.
The have another change on DEC 20th that could create some issues for listing. I currently use SCANLISTER and it really looks like another really messed up AMAZON update.
I don’t hear you mention sourcing from estate sales. Wondering why you don’t source much from them? I almost exclusively source from them and do great! Takes a little time to learn what companies offer good prices, but incredible scores await
I do go to them, but around here they aren't cheap. So, it is difficult to find stuff. I do occasionally, but I mostly hit Flea Markets, Savers and Garage Sales.....oh and my bin of books.

Not making sells, but gaining a lot of watchers and traffic. I'm expecting a lot of sales after Christmas when people get gift cards.
Keep on plugging away

VERY NICE! Thanks for watching.
Had to take time off too- eBay doesn’t like that , so tougher quarter. But older items are moving-go figure.

Nice. I'm on the opposite. More smalls due to my bins. It will be interesting for me to compare this year to 2023. Video will be out in January

Low ballers are a pain. Thanks for the comment

There is so much money to be made out there in every category.

Nice! I have never seen a Bible like the one at end of video. Thank you.

That is a big key, DIVERSIFY! Thanks for watching
Worse q4 ever for us but time to do our clearances now and not end of year. Stuff gtg!
Thanks for letting us know.

I stayed away from shipping policies. I just ship. Policies shouldn't scare anyone really. Thanks for watching.

My monthly eBay profits have at least doubled for he last 3 longs. I have been averaging about $1000 a week. I sell on eBay part time.
Thanks for the comment.
Mike, How do you ship a postcard so it doesn’t get damaged? Thanks.
@@bobedwards7927 I sandwich between two pieces of card board. Keep it small as the postcard.

Making lots of low item sales
Worst 4th in many years.
WOW. Hopefully you will get back on track. Thanks for the comment.
2nd! 😂
