@@goodbonezz1289 my 1500 rated at 8300... Maybe put some airbags on it and it shouldn't be a problem as long as the trailer has good brakes what do you think
Joe gag Im on my second 2006 260 now..got my first one in 2016 with a 350 mag/and generator. This one has the 496 mag/generator. I too have had 1500’s..and honestly the answer I came up with is no. Maybe for very short trips..ok. Like literally a mile or two. But you have to figure, 7500 lbs plus a generator, and they’re never totally dry..plus however much gas, water, additional cargo etc..then whatever the trailer weighs. You’d be over by at least two thousand pounds. Would the truck do it? Yes. Safely? No. I’m not sure what the tongue weight is either. Most times, once the boat is in the water, it’s there for the season. I don’t think too many people are really dropping in and pulling stuff like this and doing a lot of driving with them from one place to another. If it were me..which it is..when I need to transport it, I just pay someone. Or, I could rent a dually for the day. I probably will end up getting a 2500HD eventually though. Definitely would not tow this boat any distance with a 1500 though.
@@goodbonezz1289 did you look at any other brands before choosing the Sea Rays? If so, why did you choose it (apart from the fact that it’s, well, a Sea Ray)? I’m in the very early stage of interest that will hopefully lead to a purchase. So far my interest is in this 260 and Four Winns’ Vista 278, 2006 or newer but not too new (I can’t really spend more than $60K and would prefer to be under 50). Also, if I find the boat I want but without a generator, would my 2.8Kw Onan run everything?
