He always joined in in the chorus. So he is meeting every tone, bit his voice is not so special characteristic. But his fiddle and thin whistle play made the sound of the dubs unique and he has the biggest part that the Dubs stayed together over 50 years.

This is a little too Country for my tastes. Check out the original version with Luke and the boys with John S on harmony.
Christ that was brutal, they murdered that song, except perhaps for john sheehan and declan o rourke. Imelda may was particularly bad.
Why does everyone mess up the the women's prison part of this song, when Glen Hansard has them on stage? Just sing the words. Don't be putting a spin on them. It's always that verse that bugs me on all his videos doing this song!
