I met John and the rest of the Dubliners in the Holiday Inn Hotel in Lyon in France around 20 years ago. It was at breakfast and even though I didn't immediately recognise them I could see by their walk and talk that they were Irish. So, when we sat down to eat, I leaned over and asked one of them if they were from Ireland, he replied yes, and then I detected a Dublin accent so asked are you from Dublin, he replied, we are, we are the Dubliners. Of course then I realised why they looked so familiar. John came over and joined our table where I was having breakfast with my young son Cillian. John told me that he had a grandson called Cillian. He was an absolute gent, no airs or graces, a true Dub. And that's coming from a Culchie. Patsy Watchorn was the gent that we first got talking to, he was also a gem. He was very funny, apparently, someone kept stealing his boiled egg from the buffet breakfast.
Imelda May you live forever.
Thanks for honoring good'ol fiddler Jack the Dubliner.
John Sheahan, the Last DUB. Thanks for This
I had goosebumps and I'm not even Irish! Thanks Dubliners and Imelda ❤️🍀

Imelda May pours passion into this song.
What a beautiful voice sung with this young girl's heart!! All The best Dublin from South Australia 👍
To me , Imelda May in the female Phil Lynott of Old Dublin Town, Ireland, yes the World, what a classy lady she is, a most brilliant singer, a very great writer, master storyteller, top top grade performer, What a show that, John Sheahan along with his musician palls on stage, it must have felt like being in heaven
If she does it for you, fair enough, but you're absolutely wrong, and you know it. She's good, but she has yet to bring out a classic or 3.
'Female Phil Lynott'????!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This song always brings me to tears. R I P my lifelong friend Paul Ingham.

Yes. As an expatriate Dub, born and raised. Now 71 years old. This song, and the ruination of Dublin simply breaks my heart
John's eyes and face shined and beamed as the audience joined in at the end . , what a lovely lass that was singing. just wondering what going through his mind at that point
