I love Pacman,it's too bad that it is a online only game,it'd be better if it was both online n offline game just like the other regular classic Pacman games,because this game looks fun n enjoyable with those beautiful mazes.

I love pacman. It's my go to game in arcades (unless xmen, spiderman or ninja turtles). Passing on only online play.
When will these companies learn, if you purchase something you want the feeling that you physically own something that you can play when and where you are and not be controlled by the big brother internet connections. No wonder people are turning to emulation.
This, I'm so tired of them forcing online connectivity at all times. This game is literally tied to namco's whims on whether they should shut down the server to save money after a few months.

Thanks but I played this one already, back in the 80s. First in the arcade and later at home on the 2600. Neither of which was "online only", which is good since we didn't know what an "online only" was. It's weird how it was possible to make games without forced online connectivity 40 years ago, but not today. Must be some lost art like Damascus steel.

It's a great classic arcade style game.
The best classic arcade style battle royal.
Even if you mostly play against bots it's still fun trying to eat them.
Im getting all trophies, unlocking all cosmetics and just generally enjoying my time with this game until i either platinum the game or it dies. Yes i would have preferred a disc release but then again i still have to grab my disc release of RePac. Only reason i got that game digitally was so i could play at midnight instead of waiting for my Gamestop to open later that day 😂
At 20 bux it is a fair price if you love pacman but I hope they put it 9.99 after a few months and get their user base up. So deside if u want to be that expericed or new player at your price point

Even pacman 99 had an offline mode that you could pay for. They shut the game down now, but if you paid for the offline features you can still play the game today.
It’s a decent game but could use some polish it seems to chug a bit online

While it may only be online only, this does look fun. I may pick this up. Is it a mistake that there is no offline mode? yes, huge mistake, because if they shut the servers off, you can't play anymore. Still looks like a fun time.
I played it on Stadia back when it released and it was a lot of fun honestly. Online only is dumb though, they could have added bots. seems silly they didn't do that.

Online only should always be free. Otherwise, not enough players will be around after a while.
Gotta say I hate the 3d avatars on a 2d background. I could forgive it if the background had a slight 3d effect but it doesn’t and the way the avatar looks on the background just looks terrible like an old flash game off a website. It definitely doesn’t look like it’s worth $20. $5 maybe but definitely not $20
I would probably get a weekend out of it, then not play it again. I'm also to the point that I'm tired of every game being a live service. The up side is. I'm saving money, not buying these games, and finally playing old games I have and haven't played yet.
Maybe a similar re release like Mega Man X Dive offline will do the trick for me
Well said. I'm enjoying the game...... as much as I can enjoy playing against bots, and only bots, 90+ percent of the time.
For stadia, google refunded everyone's purchases ehen it closed.
Pac-Man 99 was already part of the Switch Online service so it wasn't any skin off my nose when it was taken offline.
But $20 and you can only play online? If it was couch co-op as well, then I can see it having A price tag, but $20 for online only seems to much... maybe $10?
(Also I should address inflation for rising game prices everywhere, if that is a factor)

I bought ASAP from the xbox store, find out later its online only? seriously?? why can't this game just be offline and play online for multiplayer. Why the required online connection for pacman of all games??? Maybe i was in a rush to buy it but if memory serves me correct i saw no mention of the online requirement??

The game doesn't even perform well on the switch. It'll never run at 60fps in game and there's input delay that WILL screw you up if you're trying to make a split second decision.

After playing the absolutely phenomenal Pac Man Championship Edition 2 Plus, I can confirm that this game is just not that great. It's basically pac man but online. Even Pac Man 99 had offline play....

I resent Nintendo for shutting down Pac-Man 99, the best Pac-Man ever.
The moment you said online only, all interest was lost. Glad I experienced Pac-Man Vs. on Gamecube with GBA hooked up. That was cool and still playable today if you got the game, hardware & friends.
A lot of these "players" are bots. There are less than 50 ppl on steam and less than 20 reviews in the ps store. If you finish 32 or higher, its considered a win. Even with a full lobby, its going to be very easy to win. In regards to 99, i never found full lobbies in that either. Tetris mastered the 99 royale and pac 99 did an awful job explaining anything to new players. There will always be matches because of AI filled spots but an offline mode should be created
What would have made this game a must have great game is that every outfit yields a different power or ability.
All they had to do was re-release pac man 99 with all of these features and content smh add multiplayer and stuff you can only go so far with the basic Pac-Man formula unless you drastically change the formula which is what I want this game looks like those cheap flash games on pc but that’s insulting them cause this looks so basic and boring 😅

Guys can someone help me out here. Did this game have a disclaimer on the store that said it was online required? I could have sworn i didn't see that mentioned, or maybe it was in tiny type off to the side? I was literally like pacman? count me in and ran to the checkout. Yeah I know my fault if that was the case where it was there. They seriously should have had a huge notice saying that was required. They seriously should have made a single player mode with cpu opponents, local multiplayer , and leave online multiplayer as online only. The fact that its 20 bucks for a game that might die in a few months and then they remove the servers in time due to no one playing it. I feel burned.

Because on something like the Switch you still have to pay for online, and not everybody wants to have to do that. Plus, this is one of those games where once the servers go down you can never play it again, which is t ideal if you pay 20 bucks for this game. But that’s just my opinion.

Well @Scarhj there are some people who would want an offline mode for that game because when the game is perfectly crafted or just fun to play.

That said this is pacman, put singleplayer+cpu opponents, local mp, and leave internet only when doing online matches. Your paying 20 bucks for a game they could take down in months from now on a whim. People even when buying digital games want to feel like they own it and can't be taken from them. This is a product thats dependent on namco keeping their servers up. You spend 20 bucks and theres a helpless feeling you don't really own it with it requiring internet connectivity just to run. Wouldn't you rather feel you purchased something and its safe in your account and can be run at any moment and doesn't require a constant bandwith drain just to start up?
Its not about the internet connection persay, your missing the point even though that is part of the equation. Its the fact that your spending money on a game that you never truly feel you own. Most consumers want to feel like they own a game even if its a digital license. With a online requirement it literally is paying money and they could shut down the server tomorrow if they feel like it. Hence why stadia never caught on and they ended up shutting down and no way to play your games anymore your collection. How would you feel dropping money on something and them saying sorry we are turning off access to your purchase?
