Instead of policing I’m gonna instead share my experience: I also struggle with sugar addiction after going sober. It’s hard. So hard. I’m used to using something to make me feel better when I’m at my worst and now I don’t have that. But patience goes a long way and my heart goes out to Jacqueline

It gets better! Once the dopamine starts to level out again, you’ll be able to let it go. It’s ok to use that as a stepping stone!!! Congratulations on your sobriety!!

@@heartslove8449 It doesn't always go away easily. I've got many years of sobriety under the belt and still struggling with the food addiction aspect. It's addiction transference and it happens to more people than you realize. In the beginning, your body craves the sugar because it was used to it, since alcohol is nothing but carbs. And depending on your approach to sobriety, it's encouraged to eat those foods as it's a form of harm reduction. But for some, that craving slowly turns into an addiction, and unfortunately, addiction is a disease. If you have substance use disorder, it's very likely you can/will form an addiction to other things. But food and sugar is a hard addiction to face. You cannot abstain from food.

@@heartslove8449I’m sorry but I think this is awful advice. Using unhealthy coping techniques just makes relapse more likely in the future. And your dopamine will not “level out” if you keep engaging in activities that artificially trigger that reward pathway.
It’s ok to struggle, recovery is hard, but tacking on another addiction will only make it harder.

At the same time though, sugar is far less harmful than alchohol. A sugar addiction can be compensated for with an otherwise healthy diet and lifestyle. Alcoholism cannot.

I really resonated with the idea towards the end of the video about the gray area between "no pain, no gain" and "indulge in what makes you feel good". There's a difference between motivation and commitment. Motivation is not always there and commitment can you keep on track, and in either case you should be flexible as not to burn out.

These are not the folks whom you can consider good friends. You will discover new friends and true friends through this journey. It may start as a seemingly overwhelming task to find people who understand what true friendship is, but will end as such a level of vast improvement in your life as a whole! They've become so repetitive that they don't know what else to say about her. And created bigger lies. Just to hate on her. People make mistakes. Things happen...and she's not proud of how she initially handled the situation. People need to stop acting like she ruined lives. No one shut down because of her. But they still continue to create lies and make things bigger than it needs to be. She has apologized profusely. She's created videos explaining her side. She REFUNDED every penny. Even to those that DIDN'T have defective lipsticks. LIPSTICK. She has suffered enough, and there's people who support her. She's trying to move on, so should you.

Are we really at this point where people make videos on someone’s issues with addiction and them increasing their sugar intake. This is nothing new that addicts will gain weight because they tend to eat more when they don’t drink!
I find this unethical to make a video like this and make money from someone’s illness and why on earth would anyone do this as uneducated.
This could have been done better, by speaking in general about addiction instead of pointing out a specific person!
*You can do better than this, Abbey!* you ask for people to be kind to you in the comments, and somewhere you do know this is not ok!* ❤

Agree. After dealing with addiction to substances, people’s brains are so depleted of serotonin and dopamine that they reach for sugar to cope. Unless someone has felt that horrible feeling, they don’t need to speak on the topic. However, that sugar addiction usually fades as the brain starts to heal. Yes people can switch addictions, but it can also just be a coping mechanism until the brain reaches a state of equilibrium and normalcy. Giving people grace and privacy to heal is so important

@@heartslove8449 It’s another thing if people upload a video of themselves and talk about their addiction and getting sober and cravings they developed when they went sober. To question if it’s healthy for someone to reach for sugar when they try to get sober is plain tacky and cruel and shows sign of lack of sympathy. It’s also highly uneducated, and being educated in nutrition doesn’t cut it because this is a very complex pathological issue that ventures deeply into psychology and development and attachment.
I’m even trained in these things and to sit and talk about someone else like this is absurd, and shows zero regard of someone’s integrity. I wouldn’t never within my profession discuss anyone like this even with my training and I am legally allowed to treat people with these issues due to my university degree.

Every addict is different and there is no way to speak of people who struggle with addiction like they’re a monolith without doing a huge disservice to their personal and unique stories. I don't like Jaclyn, but that is an exceptionally mean thing to say about an addict who is and has made genuine efforts to quit, which have indeed led to long periods of sobriety. There are a lot of accurate, bad descriptions that fit her, but a "drunk", or "might as well be a drunk", is not one of them right now. Give addicts credit for their efforts and accomplishments on the road to and at recovery ffs. Reading stuff like this can completely knock someone off track; like if you see an anorexic who's recovering and you call her new, healthy fat "pudgy". These types of comments can lead someone to believe their accomplishments are actually futile and that they may as well go back to old habits if this harder, healthier path isn't doing anything for them. @@user-ng1yu7io4r you meant... exactly what you said in your first comment that I criticized you for? I didn't misunderstand you, and nothing you have said further has made your comment not seem mean. It is mean and you are a mean person.

She's not a drunk, she has substance use disorder which is the clinical term for addiction. It's a serious disease and by putting people down like you are you are showing zero empathy. Would you talk to any other person suffering with a disease like this? This is a stranger sharing her struggles with a disease to the world. She's vulnerable. And I hope that anybody else who may be in this position is strong enough to know that your comments are shitty and that most of the world will show them compassion.
