    Acoustic kits are only good when the venue is large enough. I hate acoustic kits in small venues because they frequently are too loud (especially when playing soft music) and even if the drummer manages to play soft, you can't add any eq or other processing to the drum sounds because since the venue is so small, most of the drum sounds the audience is hearing is coming right out of the drums and not the speakers

      Have you tried using the tala wand or bamboos sticks for acoustic gigs? They are fantastic.

    52yr, buying 1st elec. Set. Only drummed for fun in teens. Never lost passion. Using 7piece practice pad (rigged) set for just over a year, finally can alternate hands! Wasn't easy! Thank you for video! Will TD30 b ok start to finish? Learning to advanced, out of box?
    Your video helped, thank you.

    I've been looking for a good-sounding and versatile drum kit for recording purposes (although I'm not primarily a drummer) and this is one of the best tutorials I've seen---great job on your thorough explanation! My question is...how the heck could you afford the TD-30VK with 3 kids!? Lol!

      Thanks. I was actually thinking about buying a TD 50K (Which I played before) but surprisingly, the TD30 sound module sounded better to me.

    I've only really played the TD-10. I replaced it with a Noble-Cooley set. The TD-10 lacked dynamic expression on the cymbals, and cross-sticking on the snare was difficult for triggering the proper click sound consistently. Does the TD-30 fix those issues? From acoustic cymbals, it is possible to obtain variations of tone through dynamic address and technique. I don't think that can be obtained from an electronic kit, no matter how superb!

    Nice video! How loud are the pads when playing through headphones? Are they incredibly irritating for other people to listen to when you don't amplify it like some of the cheaper, non-mesh head electric kits?

    • @AmazingProspectingLetters
      @AmazingProspectingLetters 8 лет назад

      +Courtland Adams It depends on who is listening but they are the least loud of any pad or mesh head in my experience, and certainly less loud than rubber.

    Do you feel like you need virtual drum software to make it sound more realistic? Or does it sound awesome right out of the box?

    Is there a difference between the pd128 snare. Pad versus the pd 125 feel and sound?

      @drumsmart471  7 лет назад +1

      I don't have the pd 125 but usually the newer models have improvements.

    I got issues with the size of this kit, since I live in a really small place. By this video, your set looks like it takes pretty much the same space as an acoustic set would take. Am I right? Plus that amp doesn't look small.
    Can you please give me the measures or the rug you were using under your kit? That would give me a better idea if it would fit in my room. Thanks!

      +Renato Pascon My kit takes up more space than a regular 5 piece drum kit length wise. Including boom stands it takes up more width (the regular kit). Roland has good smaller kits as well.

    • @carpii
      @carpii 8 лет назад

      +Renato Pascon Just to give you an idea, my TD-30K kit fits into a floor space of 1.5m wide by 1.35m deep. This video is the TD-30KV though, so will be wider (but same TD-30 module on both kits).

    PLEASE Son't switch to Ahead sticks - lol. It looks as if you have the most important thing that matters - an EAR! You have very strong tempo and do not sway from the beat, even when messing around with your kit sounds. You do, however, lack technique, you can always strengthen that!

    If I can be of any help, your wrest issues are do it "improper" technique. The laws of physics are rough on your arms and wrests if you let the energy dissipate in your limbs.

    Good day friend.
    I want to buy a Roland Td 30 Kv but I have some doubts, I hope you can help me solve.
    1. They sell PADS separately to expand the drums?
    2. How are called limes connecting the module to the triggers or drums and cymbals?
    3. My idea is to have 8 pads simulating isguientes measures. 8x7, 10 x 7, 12 x 10, 14 x 12, 16 x 15, 18 x 16 and two pads bass drumm 22 x 18, a snare drum 14 x 6 and acoustic Sabian cymbals. What do you think of that idea?
    Thank you.

    • @AmazingProspectingLetters
      @AmazingProspectingLetters 8 лет назад

      You can't get different sized pads unless you mix and match from lower line kits. It's an awesome way to go if you are serious about drumming.

    • @guerson99
      @guerson99 8 лет назад

      Brian Maroevich I think you do not understand me.
      What I want is to purchase a Roland TD30KV but also would like to have the opportunity to expand the drums. I know that some have double triguer pads on the banks and that gives me twice sounds very good but what I want to know is if there are pads of TD30 KV that can be purchased separately.
      For example, a bass drum separately.

    • @trickytrickster241
      @trickytrickster241 8 лет назад

      You can buy more of the toms which have dual triggers...mesh pads and rims. You can also buy other lower cost pads, cymbals, and other devices like the bt1 but it is not dual trigger/sensitivity.

    If you're experiencing tendonitis from drumming, switch to Ahead sticks. I personally use them and can vouch for their shock-absorption qualities, especially noticeable if playing on a hard practice pad, there's no shock or vibration at all compared to wood sticks. Tico Torres from Bon Jovi has even gone on record to say that they saved his career from his building tendonitis and arthritis. Would be worth looking into.

      ***** Thanks. I'll check them out. Sounds like it's more for wrist issues? My problems are forearm and elbow. I am managing it through a few techniques I learned. Thanks, I'll check them out.

      DrumSmart some kind of stick wrap or gloves w a rubber grip would prob help bc you wouldnt have to hold them as tight. ive even seen a foam cushion sleeve for sticks.

    • @drumsmart471
      @drumsmart471  9 лет назад

      I've tried the foam but it affects my playing style unless I play four on the floor type stuff. Haven't tried the gloves for the same reason but could be wrong. Doing quite well with my therapy techniques though. Thank you.

  • @TheKawasakikid1
    @TheKawasakikid1 6 лет назад

    For that amount of money I better be able to choose the assigned kits because I'll never use those stupid toy hiphop sounds. They would be better off programming artists sounds for the gigging drummer because that's the sounds they will be trying to duplicate. Assign tribute, influential sounds to artists like John Bonham, Phill Collins, Pink Floyd, Charlie Watts, Ginger Baker, Keith Moon, Stewart Copeland, Nick Mason etc. Sounds WE WILL be using at the bars.

    I was thinking to buy one, to put in my RV, but that video makes me think again, ugly sounds all the way! Electronic drums suck !

    • @AmazingProspectingLetters
      @AmazingProspectingLetters 8 лет назад

      +Lei Shri Krama Been playing for many years on acoustic kits and the early electronic kit so the new ones and some suck, but this one is amazing for recording and live gigs. This video only just scratches the surface. For an RV I would get a portable one by Roland.

    • @butchersgermany718
      @butchersgermany718 8 лет назад

      +Lei Shri Krama No, that's not true - try 2box or pc-based drumsamplers like Addicted drums or Toontrack - and you'll find out what "modern e-drumming" means...it's amazing!! Roland, Yamaha and so on suck, there you're right because they do not find the way to that new way, because they stay with their awful programmed sounds without recorded multilayer sounds like the examples I gave you...

    • @AmazingProspectingLetters
      @AmazingProspectingLetters 8 лет назад

      ***** Hi, not sure what you are saying but you can import your own sounds, and manually change the programmed sounds to anything you want. I bought Michael Schacks kits and imported them and that's all I use because they are awesome.
