  • For #MandolinMonday here are two sprightly little polkas from French fiddler Albert Coutant! I did “Avant-Deux à Coutant” some months back so it’s nice to revisit his repertoire. Coutant was from the Deux-Sèvres region of Western France which was part of Poitou, so these are Poitevin polkas. They’re quite fun to play on either fiddle or mandolin!

    I love that you played mandolin. I don' know of any mandolins playing this music.

      @@TheHarpfiddle I’m sure there must be French mandolin players playing French folk music, but I can’t think of too many! The tune for tomorrow comes from American mandolinist David Surette and it’s a Breton tune!
