    Did any of you try setting 90 days goals for yourself this quarter? I'd love to hear how it's going so far!

      I did mine. My #1 goal from last quarter rolled over into this quarter. I WILL finish the 30 day tasks for goal 1 THIS quarter. I've completed one task for goal #2 and I will complete one task this weekend for Goal #3. I've started using the top goals for the week and adding tasks there. It's working so far :)

    I feel you on the putting too much on my plate. I think sometimes it's hard to know what is a good pace... I'm constantly left thinking if maybe I need to increase my pace or not. I don't have a benchmark of what is enough... haha - totally a personal thing I realize, but yeah, it's a struggle to be satisfied perhaps...

    I am definitely going to do a kanban board BUT I will only have 30 days at a time on my board as I tend to add too much ... thanks so for much for sharing

    Oh my goodness, yes, I'm a huge type A overachiever. When I was in college I would do my research well in advance and just always kept way ahead if I could, I ended graduating with highest honors and top of my class. So I approach my writing in the same manner, I study writing craft, take tons of notes and am beginning to work on my publishing plan and the timeline for my debut novel.
    However, I will greatly take your advice and strive to not put too much on my plate all at once and stretch it out, if need be. I definitely can over-plan stuff! Thanks for sharing and for keeping it real, it's nice to see the true behind-the-scenes of an authors life. :)

    I absolutely love this. As a creative I need this. I do this same thing (quarterly goals) in my big Happy Planner but I love the visual nature of the Kanban board.

      Antonisha La'Shay The board where I can see every day so easily what needs to get done (and be excited about what I've already done) has been key for me! I think if it's hidden away in my planner, I know I can ignore it, haha

    Loved this video, Sarra. I created my own kanban board after watching your prior video. In my enthusiasm, I put *all the things* on it for last quarter. Looking at it now I realize how unrealistic some of my goals were.
    So, this video was very timely. I’m going to reevaluate my board & focus on what is actually doable in a quarter.
    My kanban turned out so cute that I really over did it to fill with colorful post-it’s.

      This is so awesome! I'd love to see a pic if you want to find me over on facebook.com/heartbreathings and post it there! It's so hard not to put way too much on your plate, but I think it's a learning process, too. We'll get there!

    Really enjoyed your video. I'd love to see a video on your pink 90 day planner and what sheets you used. Organisation is really the key :)
    Thanks Sarra for sharing your way for doing things. It's very helpful!

    I love your planning videos. I enjoy your focus on getting things done and really need to take your advice of not planning more than I can do. I always get discouraged and fall off track so quickly when I do.

    • @HeartBreathings
      @HeartBreathings  6 лет назад +1

      I think that's the hardest part for me! I want to do so much, get excited about it, and then I'm way behind so fast and feeling discouraged. I feel like the key is definitely scaling back, getting more realistic about what you can actually get done, and then if you get ahead, yippee!! Then add more to the schedule. That's what I'm trying this quarter, so I'll update how it goes for me!

    Yes, please on posting a video about how you decide on your priorities and pare them down. I watched your 90 day planning video just before October (you had filmed it in March) and I tried your method for the first time. It was incredibly helpful! Thanks for sharing it. I finished about 2/3 of what I had set out to do. (I did, however, also do a couple other major projects I hadn't planned on for writing ... and I had some extra projects for my day job that I hadn't planned on; so I feel good about what I accomplished.) I have so many ideas and things I want to do, but very limited time for doing them. I love your videos, by the way. They're very practical and helpful.

    I'd love to see the inside of your planner. I have my 90 plan in my bullet journal and my big Memory Keeper's writing journal. I'd love to see what other sheets you have there. After doing my first kanban board for last quarter, I realized that I wasn't ready to do one of my goals. Sure I completed some of the tasks but business wise I wasn't ready for it. I now have a future goals page where I store things that I want to do in my writing business. My goals for this quarter, I believe is more realistic and do able. I'd Love, love, love to see a video on how to align your to do list with your goals. Congrats on 1K subscribers :)

      Carla Fredd Thank you so much. I'll post the inside look at my sheets in the planner soon, and a future goals sheet is a brilliant idea.

    I know I'm late to the discussion, but I so relate to having unrealistic expectations. I have chronic debilitating migraines which wreak havoc with my schedule, but I am watching your videos and prayerfully considering how to prioritize what is best for each day with what energy I do have to propel me forward towards the goal... problem is, I'm still struggling with what my main goals are. Did you make a video for discovering the best goal for each quarter? If not, I would love to see how you work through that as I am looking ahead to 2019... you know, after NaNoWriMo :) Again, thank you for how you invest in us. I know we have completely different worldviews, but I so appreciate your content and generous spirit. I hope things are going well with all of your book launches!

      I have migraines sometimes, and I have to lay off the caffeine. Is that what happens to you?

      @@marthalowery1608 No, we have tested caffeine and it its not a trigger. I've had them since high school and they are very connected with stress and mental health in my case. Hope you have a headache-free day :)

    I didn't find your videos until this weekend, but I'm going to implement a 90 day plan for this last quarter. I already started making lists today! You are so inspiring, especially for an Indie author who has 12 books out but feels like she's beating a dead horse trying to get sales up. Instead of focusing so much on money, I'm going to shift on doing everything I can do with what budget I have to increase sales. However, more importantly, I need to make sure my books are the best they can possibly be and will be devoting more time to that. Thanks again for doing these videos and just know that they're so helpful.

Found you via suggested videos and I'm loving the way that you plan. I"ve done 90 day planning, filming video updates throughout the year, and I've never been so productive in my life! Yes, I'd love to see how we can align our goals and everything. I admit I'm so new to the author journey and any advice you have for us newbies would be soso helpful! How do you plan a self-published debut novel? What steps should we take? Can you do a video (if you haven't already) about how to go about the debut novel? Thanks soso much for all your help! Your videos are amazing! :) I've subbed to your other channel as well! :)

    How many words do you write for your typical book, Sarra? I am a new fan of your RUclips coaching.

    • @HeartBreathings
      @HeartBreathings  6 лет назад +3

      Hi Chip! My books range anywhere from 20,000 words for a novella to 120,000 words for my longest novel. These days, I am usually aiming for around 90,000 words each book, but that's mainly because I'm deep into a series with 4 pov characters. Next year, I'll be starting a new series and I think I'm going to try to plot to keep the story within about 60,000 words each.
