I played electric bass for 8 years and within the last year a double bass fell into my hands. It has become a new love. I auditioned to study double bass at university and i got in. With the right kind of hard work anything is possible.
I've known about this video for years and duck in from time to time, always great to listen to some extremely talented musicians showing off how talented they are. Thankful that the audio quality is still great despite this being uploaded more than 10 years ago.
The guy that that is walking pretty much the whole time inspired me to learn and improvise music. I have been playing bass for almost 5 years and I mostly play jazz music. But some classical. I live in Utah, so if there is anyone near and plays bass, we should get together and play. It would be a lot of fun :)
Wonderful! I like the doublebass a lot, I think it's a cool instrument, which unfortunately is on a background most of the time. It's great that there are guys who bring it to the spotlight!
the guitar and bass guitar(and double bass) are notated an octave higher than sounded. so when a guitarist plays the D below the treble clef, the note that actually sounds is the D in the middle of the bass clef. when a bass plays the D in the middle of the bass clef, the note that actually comes out is the D below the bass clef.
i agree, but i never remember it being hard because of that, it tends to be hard for me because i press TOO hard i haven't played in over a year ='( i miss it although i started playing at a young age, that would be why i never remember having trouble with being tired from playing long?
Not as bad as it looks. Proper stretching, good technique, and a relaxed but proper posture will keep a player healthy and behind a bass for his or her entire life.
About learning to play the upright bass. I play myself the electric bass for years and I want to move to upright bass but I have no experience on instruments such a violin. Can I make it with hard work?
the more you practice--taking necessary breaks so as not to injure your hands/wrists/arms--the stronger you will become and the more your fingers will be calloused, the less playing will hurt.
Ya I've been playing for 4 years and now my main problem is reaching down the finger board. I thought it was because I was short, but my bass teacher is only like 5'2". suggestions?
levi davies You may have a bass that is too large, or have set the endpin at the wrong height. Try adjusting the endpin and if that doesn't work consider getting a smaller bass.
I only started in August and it's difficult but I love double bass very much does anybody have any tips like things you struggled with but over came that I might have a problem with?

Hope you're doing well, 11 years later!
@@karensabortionclinic7491 Probe a freotless electric bass, like Jimmy Hendrix.
I don't think everyone can appreciate the beauty behind this. This is an amazing piece.
But you're special, because you can.
The way it transitions from swing to classical and back, soo good :D
I'm crying because this is amazing and I aspire to be this good on bass.
Put the work in and it'll come... have fun and your audience will have fun too :-)
Love is the juice that will make it happen

me too :)
Grande Bocini!!
paráda
i wanna buy this score can i?
ive played the bass for 2 years now and i know that playing high notes can really hurt ur fingers and make your arm sore
the more you practice--taking necessary breaks so as not to injure your hands/wrists/arms--the stronger you will become and the more your fingers will be calloused, the less playing will hurt.

Moreai Daleko thanks

Does anyone know if this arrangement was ever published?
Nope, but I love it
You say, Meyer is among those guys or in another video?
