- As impressive as this powerful composition is the sad story of what happened when 18 years old unknown Franz Schubert sent the piano score of this piece to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, who wrote the poem "Erlkönig" (suitable English translation would be "Alder King"). And very interesting is also what happened many years later with Goethe and this song, after much younger Schubert already died:

Credits and compliments to my talented students from Hochschule Luzern from the generation 2020 for their wonderful performance of this beautiful, but difficult and piece to perform in this formation. We have done this recording under time pressure, as we had to leave the concert hall after barely have performed it once or twice.
Eternal beauty of this composition is in this recording supported by several fantastic instruments: three of four double basses used for this recording were manufactured by Derek High, one of the finest contemporary double bass makers.
Recorded in September 2020 in "Salquin", new large concert hall of the brand new building of the HSLU-Music (Hochschule Luzern- Musik). These chords belong to the first sounds ever performed in this beautiful concert hall. Just two hours after this recording I have performed several more pieces with these talented students on the opening celebration of the brand new campus building 😊
The world needs more double bass, honestly
Hola, quería felicitarlos a todos porque lo hacen muy bien, suena espectacular, saludos desde Chile, un abrazo
Beautiful! I love these bass quartet transcriptions. Very exciting, well done all! 🎉
Thank you 🥰 some pieces work well, indeed. But not very many
i've heard Odon Racz (Viena state opera),not live but no.need. He might have some technique but not like Bozo's. and is not even.that(how fast he plays the bumblebee)...it's about the sound ...Bozo is a totally different league. also heard Bozo play some Rossini.duet with Guido somthg(i guess he s a german.cellist, very solid cellist), again.wonderful! i'd lovevto.hear Bozo play "Apres un reve " by Faure. you (Bozo) rock man!!! be blessed bruh
@@ionutzamfir5794 agreed - I enjoy Odon as well, but Bozo is King 👑
apres un reve , please do it man. your sound bro.....wanna hear you play that piece
any point trying an audition for an.orchestra(cello tutti) at 47.yrs of age? or.....better stay put and save my money. Antwerpen symphony or somthg like that in.november i.guess...this question is for those who know the audition.system in Europe .US is a different ball game. 🤮
Always great, great Mr Bozoparadzik.Tank you very much

Wonderful🌷
Love this!
Damn my cello students so jealous of this....
I'm curious as to what musical interpretation Goethe would have liked instead
There is a funny article by the Bavarian Radio mentioned. It explains a lot
Very nice 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks
Великолепно!!!
большое спасибо 🥰🙏
Toll gespielt, gratuilere !
👏👏👏👏👏👏
👌🏻
👏👏👏!!!
any chance for an areangement of Bruckner 7th ., 1st mvt for a half of page or so...just asking
I doubt, Bruckner's scores are in terms of the musical content half-empty compared to Mahler
I"d love to.hear you play "apres un reve" by G.Faure. 🙏🙏🙏
Bravo!
@@yericho7148 thanks

Nice, but does not carry the intense fire of the original sung version!
I know some singers scream here all through, but we did it exactly like in Schubert's score: there is just one single really intense place, a culmination, short before the end
@@bozoparadzikcom I don't find fault with your group's performance, which is excellent, as I listen to it once again! However, I think it is not possible to convey the utter pathos of the young child, and finally of his father, expressed in the text and in the masterful singing such as in the example I linked.
Oh, I think I hav finally got the point 🤩 with delay 😅 so: I think I'm differing a lot what I see in Schubert's score and the lyrics of Goethe's poem. I think if I was a singer, it would be natural thing to express some words stronger. It is a powerful, dramatic and very sad content 😰 but performing it's on an instrument, it makes more sense to keep on Schubert's comparably soft dynamics with just occasional sforzandi, simply because the one cannot really sing the words to it. And... another topic is what the audience really understands from sung text 😅 I would like to express your my gratefulness for this really interesting comment, thank you 🥰🙏
@@bozoparadzikcom You are welcome, and I thank you and your fellow musicians for the beauty and blessings you are giving to us with your performances!
@@ChiefHerzensCoach how nice, I didn't know that
