Your video has been very helpful to me, thanks for uploading! What fluid did you put on the bevel gear assy? looking forward to performing that job too myself.
Excellent Video thank you! I was told front diff is part of automatic transmission? i kind of find it hard to believe. Do you have a video of front diff oil service?
Thank you Henry. The front differential is part of the transmission. The gearbox that transfers the power to the rear Haldex unit (bevel gear) is separate and is bolted to the back of the transmission. I recorded a video, but it didn't turn out very well, so I took it down. Changing the fluid is just as easy as in this video. Good luck.
Thanks for the great video, very inspiring. My 4 wheel drive isn't working, you tubers point to the haldex pump being faulty (2010 Tiguan) . I have to drain the oil to get the haldex pump and filter out. Is this the same oil ? . Do you do the front diff oil too ? Thanks from Devon UK 👍
hi great video, ive got a really bad vibration/buzzing sound when I'm going over 75mph at around 2500 revs. Its coming from the rear and you can feel it through the rear seats. I've been told its the differential. I may try an oil change to see if it improves it. otherwise could be a costly repair. cheers.
@@timtownsend7713 Could still be, but also check ball joints and UV-joints. They can get dry and will operate clunky. They are usually saved by adding grease without replacing them
It took around 800mL I think. I was using my filler that I just loaded up with 2 liters. After completing the rear differential and front bevel box I still had 250-300 mL left.
Lazaro Carreiro ruclips.net/video/wxnkqB20Vzs/видео.html in this video, I show the tool I use for filing the fluids. It is a half gallon pump up sprayer from the hardware store.
Mikecheck1-2 This was just the differential oil, not the Haldex unit fluid. There is no filter on the differential but there is a filter on the Haldex unit. Cheers, thanks for watching!
VW doesn't have a recommended internal. After seeing the fluid from mine, I would recommend the front at every 75k miles and the rear at every 100k miles. The Haldex is every 40k miles.
@@sbcncsu I have a Tiguana 2.0 tdi 103 kw 4 motion 2010. Thank you for the video. I'm not a car mechanic, but I change oils in the garden. Front differential, probably doesn't exist. Makes no sense to me. Otherwise I agree. The oil in Haldex is I think after 30,000 km.
@@frantisekoutly602 ruclips.net/video/wxnkqB20Vzs/видео.html Take a look at this video. It wasn't very good quality but it shows you the front "bevel box" or "angle gear" that sends power to the rear from the transmission.
sbcncsu So I live in Brazil here, I only find the oil, the filter, only importing from the US, could you give me some reliable place to bring this filter to Brazil.
The Haldex system is also used in other brands like Ford and Volvo. Check out items like the Volvo part "VOLVO Coupling Oil & Filter Kit 31325173 & 31367940" One Ford PN is 9V4N4A319AA for a Haldex filter. Audi PN is 111358.

Hi sbcncsu , thanks for the video. Just a dummy question; Are "Rear Transmission Fluid" and "Haldex Clutch Fluid" the same stuff ? I just check on the link above (liquid-moly) and found the both options, which drives me to this question. Regards Roberto (Sao Paulo, Brazil)
Very nice, thanks!. I have to do that work here in Rosario, Argentina. Thanks!
Very nice video, really appreciated, many thanks for sharing!

Nice vídeo my friend. Thx! Hugs from Brazil.
Brillant..love the sprayer idea..
Great video, Thank You!
Much appreciated from Serbia!
Thank you for showing this.
great video.
It helps,thank you
It seems to be made the same way on a A3 V6, the drain hole is just above the rear sway bar...
Does somebody know what torque you should be used for these 2 plugs?
Hi. It is supposed to refill untill oil gets out of the upper hole, thats the right level reached.
Your video has been very helpful to me, thanks for uploading!
What fluid did you put on the bevel gear assy? looking forward to performing that job too myself.
I am glad the video was helpful! The bevel gear uses the same 75w-90 gear oil as the differential.
+sbcncsu excellent, thanks for the quick reply.
To fill the bevel gear do we need pressur to force the oil go in or just to be able to fill it under the car?

It is likely the pump if the 4motion isn't engaging. Read for codes in the awd module. It could be a stored code preventing the engagement of the 4wd.
i have passat 2012 4 motion but 4motion doest work or rear tires, can someone tell me why ?

Check your wheel bearings first. They would fall before the differential.

I think I have the same issue and thought it was the diff at first, but it's not. Next I'm gonna try to service the haldex and see what happens
@@iHaveBankai I changed the oil and made no difference. Its not wheel bearings etc.
Great video !!! Rear differential and Haldex system are different ????
I think it is a legal thing, in my service/repair manual from vw they even mention they need to refer to the haldex as "all-wheel drive coupling".
Great video. Do you happen to remember how much fluid it took in the end please? Thanks

Fouad Foo I changed mine at 80k miles. There is no official recommendation so it is up to you.
Thank you!
Hello, do you know how many liter needs the Haldex in a passat CC? Thanks.
Gustavo Sosa I do not know. The capacity varies by Haldex version or generation.

How much does it require? And type?
How many liters Rear Differential needs? in forums people say it needs 0.8 liters.
You will use less than 1 liter.
What video shows how to make your pump?
Sadly, there isn't a video of that.
Could you make one please?

what kind of oil should be used for the rear differencial?
The rear differential uses a synthetic GL-4, 75w/90 gear oil (Liqui-moly 4433) or equivalent.
and why are you sure it's the right one? the more I read about this, the more different opinions appear..
