Think of it this way, when the shadows hit izanagi, it looked like Yu felt pain didn't it? Think of it as if he feels what izanagi would, so as lumberluc said, what izanagi's doing would be exhausting Yu at the same time as him doing it

I agree, I do think Yuri Lowenthal (yosuke) and Johnny Yong Bosch (Yu) have always been a good team though. Code Geass, many Tales of Games things like that.
Izanagi is such a badass looking Persona. I love the starting Personas (for the 3 games I've played), Orpheus, Izanagi and Arsene, but god damn is Izanagi arguably the best of the 3, not only in this but he only has 1 weakness whereas the others both have 2. In P4A, Izanagi is an absolute beast.
This anime was what got me into Persona in the first place. Thank god it exists. Plus, when I first watched the show I stopped at the second last episode and bought Golden the next day, so the anime never spoiled me to Izanami
He was the only one to embrace who he really is. That's why his Persona was unlocked immediately instead of becoming a shadow. Yu knew who he was and embraced it. Awesome ^_^
Daniel Rutledge I'm not sure that's true, to an extent. He unlocked the power because he is the wild card persona user. He obtained the power of his persona because of Izanami, the goddess who gifted the power to him, Adachi, and Naratame. Although, he eventually does accept his shadow in the true ending animation, he doesn't accept his shadow to gain his persona in the beginning of the game ^_^

Imo, when they do P4 Remake they need to take this scene for MC awakening. Imo it much better than og awakening. like here is when the persona awakening and the og location is when we learn how weapon works
This show had a lot of heart to it. I've never played P4 but I was able to get hooked right away and enjoy this show quite a lot. P5 the animation, on the other hand...I don't know if it's just the way it's directed, or if the story of the game is just like that, since I've never played it, but I just can't get quite hooked to it. I found it kinda boring and I eventually just had to drop it since I wasn't enjoying it
Don't worry, that's just the anime's fault it seems boring. The actual game (in my opinion) is much better than Persona 4. Though I can't say for sure with Golden(the game) since I've only played the original
Well remember what happened when each character learned/earned their persona's? They felt weak and some even passed out. If I were to guess, he probably felt weak after learning how to summon his for the first time too.

It is really confusing to me because Persona 4 gave them the EXACT model for how a story like this should be adapted into a television format. But they still screwed it up somehow.
Persona 4 Golden was the best in the series, man! Hundred times better than Persona 3 and Persona 5 on terms of story, soundtrack and characters. And its anime adaptation is just the definition of perfection. That's how a game is adapted to an anime.

The difference between this and P5A shows a difference between making an anime out of respect and passion and making one for a cash grab. If you don't believe me, just compare this awakening sequence to P5's. Night and day

In Persona 5 they did a great job in making it sound like they got someone else to voice the Persona, but if you listen very closely you can tell its the same voice actor.

No, he never met his shadow because he was straight up given his persona ability. He didn't awaken to it the same way anyone else did.
