@@pokemanpaul8284 - I grabbed Ise immediately, and have taken her out in co-op only so far. The guns are weak (I am being kind) and the torps do pitiful damage. Damage numbers are low compared to other T6 BB's and CV's from my experience so far. I will need to see how it performs over more games. I like to do at least 30 co-op battles before I take a ship out in randoms. I haven't used the HE at all so far, and judging by what I see CC's doing with it, HE may be the default ammo on this ship. My take so far, if you have to choose between turning in to dodge torps from Ise or angle to bounce BB AP - ignore Ise torps.

ACTUALLY Jingles, there was a Seiran M6A2.... sort of: "The M6A2 was a proposed platform that existed in a sole prototype - this outfitted with a Mitsubishi Kinsei MK8P 1,560 horsepower engine driving a constant speed propeller." Basically a faster, more powerful version. Also, the M6A1 could carry torpedos, so basically the only fully unreasonable thing is them carrying two each.
The Kinsei is a radial engine. Which, if what pictures I have seen so far are anything to go by, is not represented on the 3D model (think the change in appearance from earlier D4Y to D4Y3 to get an idea of how it would look like). Also I think Jingles is confusing the E16A Zuiun (which can be used as a dive bomber) with a notional float-equipped D4Y (the latter probably doesn't exist; the D4Y that was supposed to go onto Ise and Hyuga was meant to land on friendly carriers after a sortie)......
From looking up some rough numbers I think they could have theoretically actually carried two torpedoes. The Type 5 torpedo was only 507 lbs. (230 kg), that's less weight than the bombs that the M6A1 carried. Though I know the mounts are different, but in theory they could have carried the two of them just fine.

@@minimurder2832 depends on how it is used, because it has to surface to use them and if you use it like Ise, that means you have to leave your sub on the surface. And that means if you chose positions poorly you can get easily clapped. I-400 has torpedo tubes but it is worst in maneuverability for subs due to its size and speed.

Then enter Upcoming Dockyards in the future: De Zeven Provincen and Tone are laughing in the distance ready to smash destroyers and Casual Cruisers by the hands of a Battleship Carrier main. :^) EDIT: by the way jingles, in game Ise carried M6A1 Seirans, which is equipped by the I-400 Sen Toku Submarine Carriers as these planes planned for Panama Canal ambush.
In-game, they're the Aichi M6A2 Seiran. Which apparently existed as a single prototype with an upgraded engine. If Japan's aircraft production weren't so bad by the time Ise was converted, and if they weren't also desperately short on qualified pilots, the Seiran would've actually been well-suited for the ship.
They are reserving the actual aircraft for higher tier hybrid ships.. because these will sell out like fresh cookies they want to make bigger high tier cookies next.
Tone the T8 cruiser will come eventually. It’s a variant of modified Mogami. While you can take some hit on Ise as a BB, you definitely can’t on something as fragile as Mogami hull. That’s why I saw testers die pretty fast on Tone.

@@San4311 Torpedo damage is very similar to citadel damage in terms of healing. BBs can only heal a very small percentage of torpedo damage if the torps hit the belt. There's also no reason they couldn't be HE bombers.
I can't find any evidence of Japan having, or planning to have, seaplanes equipped with torpedoes. It sounds reasonable for WG to make up a new seaplane for this purpose. (edit: the Seiran could actually equip torpedoes. Not only that, and contrary to what Jingles claimed, but the M6A2 existed as a prototype too.) Maybe they estimated that the Seiran would have been better suited at carrying torpedoes than the Suisei?
@@tokul76 More likely because carrying out a dive bomber attack that actually hits something is slower and harder than dropping eight torpedoes vaguely in the direction of an enemy ship. Which goes against the idea of controlling the planes for as short a time as possible.
Ise class which includes the hyuga were the next battleship class after the fuso and they really didnt change much mainly different positions on turret 3 and 4 which iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii to notice

The M6A1 Seiran is actually capable of mounting both bombs and torpedoes, depending on mission requirements. They were designed specifically to operate from I-400 class submarines, of which 18 were ordered, but only 3 built. Two of them, I-400 and I-401, along with two Type A2 submarines, I-13 and I-14, were to be used in a canal raid design to knock out the Panama Canal and cut-off the primary USN supply line into the Pacific. This attack was supposed to be a combination of torpedo and dive bombing, but was cancelled just before it was to commence because IJN High Command decided it wouldn't have any impact on the war. By this point, Okinawa had already been lost, and they were redirected to attack the Ulithi Atoll, then the Allies' major naval anchorage. Also, I do recall reading before that one M6A2 prototype was built, but I cannot for the life of me remember where I read it from, or if there was any substantial differences between the two. Also, also, the real Ise had a flight group consisting of 11 D4Y Suisei dive bombers and 11 Aichi E16A recon planes. The only reason I can think for changing them to torpedo planes is you have to spend more time lining up a good DB attack in WoWS, so I guess they made the switch for gameplay reasons.
i met 3 of these a few months ago and they went for my in my nagato. didn't last very long and they just camped behind and island in their base the whole time
Well... it seems Jingles made this at least a week ago because for about a week now WG has said it comes out today. The chosen variant has torp bombers.
My guess for the imaginary plane is that they wanted something that was "tier appropriate" so it wouldn't be too fast or durable for ships of tier 6 bracket to deal with. Of course, that assumes any ship can deal with any aircraft at any tier at all.
I mean... The only imaginary things about the M6A2 are it having 2 torpedoes (it could either carry a torp or 2 bombs, but not 2 torps) and the fact that it's in the Ise. There was a prototype M6A2, which had a better engine than the original M6A1
@@HarverTheSlayer I found no information on there ever being an A2 version even planned, and given what became of the A1 I don't think they ever planned any iterations. If you're getting your info from Wargaming or one of its wikis then it's highly suspect.
@@scoman91 Actually, I just googled M6A2 Seiran and found a decent amount of pages older than World of Warships itself, so I highly doubt that those are from any Wargaming-related page. What I can say, though, is that many of them are in my native language (Spanish), but I found English sources too. If you want some information about it, it's pretty much just the normal Seiran with a better engine, the Mitsubishi Kinsei MK8P with 1560 horsepower (compared to its original 1400 horsepower engine). Funnily enough, evne the Spanish Wikipedia page for the Seiran lists the M6A2, while the English one doesn't, for some bizarre reason.

I find it VERY difficult to believe that any floatplane qualified as the "fastest dive bomber of the war". In fact, I'd venture to guess that no floatplane qualified as the fastest anything since the cessation of the Schneider Cup races.
Doing a little bit of research, the idea was not to have float equipped D4Y's, but to have regular rocket assisted D4Y's that performed their attack, then landed on a carrier. It was also equipped with scout planes with floats, which were then hoisted up after landing.

Concerning the different Ise variants, her sistership Hyuga is available as a Tier 7 full battleship, so that seems to answer what has happened to one of those variants you were talking about.
After watching the last KOTS series, I was actually considering re-installing this game. Thank you Jingles, and Jedi, and especially WarGaming themselves, for curing me of those thoughts.

They must have the speed and dexterity of Thor and Flash combined and hyped up to 11 with a can's of red bull dripping into their IV, while having their fingers generating enough friction to power a small scale nuclear reactor as they are scrambling to push the required buttons in their keyboards with grace and elegance of a cat falling...
Its for sale on the Aisa server already. Have played a couple games in it so far and it was amusingly fun. Although, I have to say I was expecting the planes to work something like the new Dutch bombers, just over a larger range.
Don't know about this ship type, but would love to see multi-tier ships, for example a WWI version of the Warspite you could play at tier 3 or 4 and version that in-game now. Ships have long lives and so were continuously upgraded.

@@DaveP1991 But that's not what the other guy is suggesting, he means the other way around. Maybe it was a tier VI ship at the time of WWII but more like a Tier III by the time of WWI. So at Tier III you'd play the ship at WWI spec, and at Tier VI you would play it at WWII spec.
Would've been a neat thing to have a realistic Ise in the game, with floatplanes designed to RECON, to spot targets and defend themselves doing so, rather than even more torpedos to add to the plague. It would make that ship highly valueable and even desired to counteract these ridiculous stealth mechanics we have in the game.
No, the spotting of CVs is the major problem, not the damage. Making Ise’s planes specialised for spotting makes them an even BIGGER contribution, not smaller.

Yeah, now you have to spam chat reminding people to shoot AP at the Carrier cos they get an automatic damage con every 5 seconds. That's the dumbest part of everything else with CVs. Tier 10 cvs bounce Yamato shells off their deck... think about that for a second. 3500lb shell travelling at 700 feet per second, with all of that insane amount of kinetic energy being focused into the tip of the shell... Several hundred thousand pounds per square inch... but no damage to the flight deck..
@@ShawFujikawa The flight decks were designed to potentially protect against 1000lb bombs and kamikaze aircraft not 3500lb armor piercing shells. The likelihood of a carrier suffering zero damage and remaining operational from multiple hits from 16 and 18 inch plunging fire is basically zero.
I think it would be very interesting to play, but I also think it would be a lot more interesting if the regular CV has that particular option of sending their aircraft and have all of them release their payload at the same time (just as the ISE).
With regard to the aircraft carried by the Ise, does this mean we may be seeing I-400 class subs in the future? If you think this is bad wait till WG adds a carrier that can launch torpedoes, only be killed by DDs and CLs, and can remain invisible for good stretches of time.
Some observations from this video: - It is a T6 BB that has 21.4 km range AND planes with only 13km detection. A quick look at WoWS Wiki and looking at BBs in similar tier and the average range looks to be around 17km. -It does not seem like this ship can be de-planed. I notice it does have a plane count above the consumable but I didn't notice the "plane returned to ship" que you get on a CV - The dispersion looked pretty good on most of the shots so again another plus and they only have a 22 second reload. - Has more armor than similar tier BBs - The planes drop a large number of torps and are incredibly fast and yet they still seem to be able to take a beating in every video I have ever played speed come at the cost of toughness, these planes should be squishy as hell and yet they aren't ship is a gonna be a problem
@Jingles The Seiran was designed to also carry a torpedo and the Seirans were, in fact, faster than D4Ys *if* D4Ys had carried floats, which they never did due to being carrier-aircraft.
Saw the A6 this past weekend at the Smithsonian. It is in the Annex out near Dulles along with the German D335 and the Horten HO229 and the forward fuselage of the J7W shinden and the Japanese ME 262 along with an Oka kamikaze.

Managed to earn this ship in an event in World of Warships Blitz, where it is a tier 7. She’s been in that game ever since September 2018 if I’m not mistaken. Weird ship, but a bit of fun if you know what you’re doing and can properly balance the carrier and battleship aspects of it.
As I'm sure multiple people have pointed out, the Seiran did exist, they built..28 of them. They were the planes that the I-400s were to use for an attack on the Panama Canal but the end of the war happened before they could do it. There's an M6A1 survivor at the Smithsonian. They have some exceptionally good looking lines, for a floatplane.
I guess Im going to have to be the one that says, "Yeah I was/am looking forward to this ship" I like them. They are interesting. This also allows for the late war Mogami and the Swedish Gotland crusier carrier. It also might allow for the USS Akron and USS Macon both of which would be neat, if odd, inserts into the game. And yeah I know this isn't going to be a popular post.
The Ise and Tone (a cruiser version of the Ise) are among my favorite IJN ships. Edit1: The Seiran could carry a torpedo, that was a design requirement for an attack on the Panama Canal locks or the dams feeding them. Edit2: this would be a lot easier to play with the older carrier mechanics....
The old carriers had a steeper learning curve and those who could get a grip of it loved the system, but the ever elusive wider audience appeal killed a great system for this. As for the claim the old system was too complicated I counter with the statement EVE Online has been running for damn near 20 years with a learning cliff instead of curve. I agree though the old system likely would have made her a bit better with much better situational awareness.
Just a correction in a slight mistake here at 1:41, the 4 IJN fleet carriers didn't lost the majority of its airgroup in the Battle of Midway. Only the carrier Hiryu who suffered that. What the IJN lost during that battle aside from their 4 fleet aircraft carriers were their experienced maintenence crew. Also, the Kido Butai lost its experienced airgroups at the Guadalcanal campaign and the Battle of Santa Cruz Islands is the 'nail in the coffin' for those experienced airgroups.
Another factor is one of the pair, Hyuga, suffered an explosion in turret 5 while gunnery practice was going on just before the Midway operation. The IJN had time to remover the wreck of the turret and cover the barbette with a steal plate. 25mm AA guns were mounted on it. I wonder if they will eventually do Mogami? The same conversion was done to her after Midway.

Not just aircraft, but aircraft on a battleship that because it has a flight deck is lower in guns and not a brawler so has to abuse the "dead eye" skill instead, exactly what we need.

The swedes built a similar ship called the HMS Gotland (1933)(hans majestäts skäpp). Which was a cruiser hybrid, this ship was also upgraded twice and was from time of it's creation designed to be a cruiser hybrid.
Just what the game needs, more planes that can attack low tier ships that most of them have no AA.. WG is slowly destroying any strategy left into this game. Concilment is becoming completely useless, ships designed around it will be collecting dust at the port..
Then make bigger maps. Have Yamato fire 50km and introduce "earth's curvature" so that you won't see Yamato firing because your horizon is at best 20-25km
@@valiandrei6743 Sure, you can see the Yamato, but a small destroyer? Not unless you are lucky and looking right at it. If it were done correctly, it would require the player's vision to be pointed in that direction to detect smaller guns' muzzle flash at long distances.

I don't play WoWS, but why WG would put this - this - thing - into the game, even in the light of the TONS of problems carriers have caused over the years, boggles my mind.
Jingles according to Wikipedia M6A1 can carry one type 91 torpedo, which makes sense considering one of their plans was to attack one of the locks on the Panama Canal
The dreadnought battleship pre-carrier modification hull is in the game, its the sister to the Ise: the Hyuga. If you want to play a carrier hybrid get the Ise. If you want six fourteen inch turrets get the Hyuga, no need to add seperate hulls to choose from as they're both already there.
I still love the idea of this game so damn much, but I just don't have the in-game skill to ignore all the ways Wargaming seems to want to suck the fun out of it. And even if I was a super unicum player I probably would still hate what they are doing to it but at least I'd be having fun bashing in the skulls of baby sealtatoes... I dread the time when they implement submarines into the game, as if carriers weren't enough?? Why can't they just implement a feature for the player to choose wether they want games with or without carriers?? Oh right, that's because then they will have to admit that basically ONLY CV players want to play matches with CVs in them. And even without CVs there's so much OP bullshit going on in some cases. I completely stopped grinding certain lines simply because they are not competitive in any way, shape or form compared to the rest. I'll just keep grinding for the two weeks of premium I got left which I got for free and then not touch the game again for a long while...
a buddy or mine's father joined the US Army Air Corps before Pearl Harbor, Jingles. He was an avionic specialist and stationed in the Panama Canal zone for the duration. While canoeing on the canal he was strafed by a japanese float plane of some persuasion. The pilot missed, and 17 years later my buddy was born, later in 1959. Wonder where that plane came from?...
The Ise: the ship that conclusively proves that WG is more full of shit than a mega-city sewage plant. No, it's not hard to control both a ship and a squadron..... And of course the toxic game mechanics and by now compulsory made up designs because WG cant be bothered to make any sort of mental effort to balance anything.

Actually Jingles: The Aichi M6A2 Seiran did exist in a limited number. They were used as attack planes on the I-400 series submarine aircraft carrier for covert attacks on the Panama canal and continental US.
I like the idea of different hull variants you can choose with Ise, whether it's the hybrid bb/cv variant or the upgraded BB variant. Makes it more appealing to own imo.
*Actually Jingles,* the handful of Yokosuka D4Y1 Suisei dive bombers assigned to Ise and Hyuga IRL weren't floatplanes. They were standard carrier-based planes, aside from the addition of the rocket boosters. How were they supposed to get back onto the ships after bombing a target? They weren't. It was a one-way trip. Also, the M6A1 Seiran *was* designed to carry torpedoes. The plan was for them to torpedo the locks of the Panama Canal. Also, the dreadnought battleship version is the Tier 7 Hyuga.
The Dreadnought Version of Ise does exist in the game. It's called Hyuga (sister ship of Ise) and is a Tier 7 premium battleship. But back to Ise: There is a problem with these ships. While they are some kind of aircraft carrier, it seems that the matchmaking rules for aircraft carriers do not apply to these ships. A clanmate of me had a very bad experience, as he fought in a Tier 6 battle. There was a full Ise-Division in the enemy team and of course the regular aircraft carrier. So they had pretty much 4 carriers. On the other hand, the team of my clanmate had only one (the regular carrier) and had only normal battleships matched against the Ises. I think its not that surprising, that the Ise-team won.
The SEIRAN did exist my friend. It was what they carried on the I400 series Submarine Carriers x 3. They were planning on bombing the Panama Canal locks with this plane, and they already had floats as they were designed as a float plane. As stated before, I modeled and textured this plane in Blender years ago for War Thunder, but I didn't finish modeling the cockpit so War Thunder wasn't enthused about it. I should dig it back our. I was also working on the Glen, and should get it back out also. Anyway these were Fast as hell for sea planes and carried a Large Bomb weight, along with Torp or Bomb. they had no forward machine guns, but carried a 12.7mm machine gun in the back seat for the gunner/radioman. the rear gun was on a very elaborate mechanism that would allow the gun to be stowed, and or raised about 2 feet in height to shoot, and forced the gunner to stand in the rear seat that was lowered slightly and the gunner had a harness that was attached around his waist so he shouldn't fall out. Like the Kate the problem with these planes is that in a sand box game like War Thunder, you get shot up real quick. In real life you could get in real trouble if you ran into enemy fighter planes, but there was a lot of planes that were easy to kill even with forward guns. Anyway, Yes it was a real plane. There are some good photo's online of one thats being restored.

Just seen a screenshot of a T6 game that took place on SEA server today - 4 x T6 CV and 10 x Ise on BOTH teams. Yes kids 14 ships carrying aircraft.
I play on asia, and I haven’t touched thr game since last week.

The Kinsei is a radial engine. Which, if what pictures I have seen so far are anything to go by, is not represented on the 3D model (think the change in appearance from earlier D4Y to D4Y3 to get an idea of how it would look like).
Also I think Jingles is confusing the E16A Zuiun (which can be used as a dive bomber) with a notional float-equipped D4Y (the latter probably doesn't exist; the D4Y that was supposed to go onto Ise and Hyuga was meant to land on friendly carriers after a sortie)......
From looking up some rough numbers I think they could have theoretically actually carried two torpedoes. The Type 5 torpedo was only 507 lbs. (230 kg), that's less weight than the bombs that the M6A1 carried. Though I know the mounts are different, but in theory they could have carried the two of them just fine.

@@minimurder2832 depends on how it is used, because it has to surface to use them and if you use it like Ise, that means you have to leave your sub on the surface. And that means if you chose positions poorly you can get easily clapped. I-400 has torpedo tubes but it is worst in maneuverability for subs due to its size and speed.

In-game, they're the Aichi M6A2 Seiran. Which apparently existed as a single prototype with an upgraded engine. If Japan's aircraft production weren't so bad by the time Ise was converted, and if they weren't also desperately short on qualified pilots, the Seiran would've actually been well-suited for the ship.
They are reserving the actual aircraft for higher tier hybrid ships.. because these will sell out like fresh cookies they want to make bigger high tier cookies next.

Tone the T8 cruiser will come eventually. It’s a variant of modified Mogami. While you can take some hit on Ise as a BB, you definitely can’t on something as fragile as Mogami hull. That’s why I saw testers die pretty fast on Tone.

@@San4311 Torpedo damage is very similar to citadel damage in terms of healing. BBs can only heal a very small percentage of torpedo damage if the torps hit the belt. There's also no reason they couldn't be HE bombers.
I can't find any evidence of Japan having, or planning to have, seaplanes equipped with torpedoes. It sounds reasonable for WG to make up a new seaplane for this purpose.
(edit: the Seiran could actually equip torpedoes. Not only that, and contrary to what Jingles claimed, but the M6A2 existed as a prototype too.)

@@tokul76 More likely because carrying out a dive bomber attack that actually hits something is slower and harder than dropping eight torpedoes vaguely in the direction of an enemy ship. Which goes against the idea of controlling the planes for as short a time as possible.

In Warships Blitz (the mobile version), we have Ise at tier 7, carrying Aichi E16A1 dive bombers, which is a lot closer to historical accuracy.
The M6A1 Seiran is actually capable of mounting both bombs and torpedoes, depending on mission requirements. They were designed specifically to operate from I-400 class submarines, of which 18 were ordered, but only 3 built. Two of them, I-400 and I-401, along with two Type A2 submarines, I-13 and I-14, were to be used in a canal raid design to knock out the Panama Canal and cut-off the primary USN supply line into the Pacific. This attack was supposed to be a combination of torpedo and dive bombing, but was cancelled just before it was to commence because IJN High Command decided it wouldn't have any impact on the war. By this point, Okinawa had already been lost, and they were redirected to attack the Ulithi Atoll, then the Allies' major naval anchorage.
Also, I do recall reading before that one M6A2 prototype was built, but I cannot for the life of me remember where I read it from, or if there was any substantial differences between the two.
Also, also, the real Ise had a flight group consisting of 11 D4Y Suisei dive bombers and 11 Aichi E16A recon planes. The only reason I can think for changing them to torpedo planes is you have to spend more time lining up a good DB attack in WoWS, so I guess they made the switch for gameplay reasons.
We do have the sister ship of the Ise which is the Hyuga as a battleship before the coversion into a hybrid.
According to the book Operation Storm by John Geoghegan, there was 1 Aichi M6A2 prototype produced before production ceased in Jul of 1945.

My guess for the imaginary plane is that they wanted something that was "tier appropriate" so it wouldn't be too fast or durable for ships of tier 6 bracket to deal with. Of course, that assumes any ship can deal with any aircraft at any tier at all.
I mean... The only imaginary things about the M6A2 are it having 2 torpedoes (it could either carry a torp or 2 bombs, but not 2 torps) and the fact that it's in the Ise. There was a prototype M6A2, which had a better engine than the original M6A1
@@HarverTheSlayer I found no information on there ever being an A2 version even planned, and given what became of the A1 I don't think they ever planned any iterations. If you're getting your info from Wargaming or one of its wikis then it's highly suspect.
@@scoman91 Actually, I just googled M6A2 Seiran and found a decent amount of pages older than World of Warships itself, so I highly doubt that those are from any Wargaming-related page. What I can say, though, is that many of them are in my native language (Spanish), but I found English sources too. If you want some information about it, it's pretty much just the normal Seiran with a better engine, the Mitsubishi Kinsei MK8P with 1560 horsepower (compared to its original 1400 horsepower engine).
Funnily enough, evne the Spanish Wikipedia page for the Seiran lists the M6A2, while the English one doesn't, for some bizarre reason.

I find it VERY difficult to believe that any floatplane qualified as the "fastest dive bomber of the war". In fact, I'd venture to guess that no floatplane qualified as the fastest anything since the cessation of the Schneider Cup races.
Doing a little bit of research, the idea was not to have float equipped D4Y's, but to have regular rocket assisted D4Y's that performed their attack, then landed on a carrier. It was also equipped with scout planes with floats, which were then hoisted up after landing.
Tbh. Only allowing 1 strike every minute doesn’t seem too bad.
Especially when each torp only do like 2500 damage

Its for sale on the Aisa server already. Have played a couple games in it so far and it was amusingly fun. Although, I have to say I was expecting the planes to work something like the new Dutch bombers, just over a larger range.
Don't know about this ship type, but would love to see multi-tier ships, for example a WWI version of the Warspite you could play at tier 3 or 4 and version that in-game now. Ships have long lives and so were continuously upgraded.

So at Tier III you'd play the ship at WWI spec, and at Tier VI you would play it at WWII spec.
Would've been a neat thing to have a realistic Ise in the game, with floatplanes designed to RECON, to spot targets and defend themselves doing so, rather than even more torpedos to add to the plague.
It would make that ship highly valueable and even desired to counteract these ridiculous stealth mechanics we have in the game.
No, the spotting of CVs is the major problem, not the damage. Making Ise’s planes specialised for spotting makes them an even BIGGER contribution, not smaller.

That's the dumbest part of everything else with CVs. Tier 10 cvs bounce Yamato shells off their deck... think about that for a second. 3500lb shell travelling at 700 feet per second, with all of that insane amount of kinetic energy being focused into the tip of the shell... Several hundred thousand pounds per square inch... but no damage to the flight deck..

@@ShawFujikawa The flight decks were designed to potentially protect against 1000lb bombs and kamikaze aircraft not 3500lb armor piercing shells.
The likelihood of a carrier suffering zero damage and remaining operational from multiple hits from 16 and 18 inch plunging fire is basically zero.
I think it would be very interesting to play, but I also think it would be a lot more interesting if the regular CV has that particular option of sending their aircraft and have all of them release their payload at the same time (just as the ISE).
With regard to the aircraft carried by the Ise, does this mean we may be seeing I-400 class subs in the future? If you think this is bad wait till WG adds a carrier that can launch torpedoes, only be killed by DDs and CLs, and can remain invisible for good stretches of time.

Some observations from this video:
- It is a T6 BB that has 21.4 km range AND planes with only 13km detection. A quick look at WoWS Wiki and looking at BBs in similar tier and the average range looks to be around 17km.
-It does not seem like this ship can be de-planed. I notice it does have a plane count above the consumable but I didn't notice the "plane returned to ship" que you get on a CV
- The dispersion looked pretty good on most of the shots so again another plus and they only have a 22 second reload.
- Has more armor than similar tier BBs
- The planes drop a large number of torps and are incredibly fast and yet they still seem to be able to take a beating in every video I have ever played speed come at the cost of toughness, these planes should be squishy as hell and yet they aren't

Saw the A6 this past weekend at the Smithsonian. It is in the Annex out near Dulles along with the German D335 and the Horten HO229 and the forward fuselage of the J7W shinden and the Japanese ME 262 along with an Oka kamikaze.

Managed to earn this ship in an event in World of Warships Blitz, where it is a tier 7. She’s been in that game ever since September 2018 if I’m not mistaken. Weird ship, but a bit of fun if you know what you’re doing and can properly balance the carrier and battleship aspects of it.

As I'm sure multiple people have pointed out, the Seiran did exist, they built..28 of them. They were the planes that the I-400s were to use for an attack on the Panama Canal but the end of the war happened before they could do it. There's an M6A1 survivor at the Smithsonian.
They have some exceptionally good looking lines, for a floatplane.

I guess Im going to have to be the one that says, "Yeah I was/am looking forward to this ship" I like them. They are interesting. This also allows for the late war Mogami and the Swedish Gotland crusier carrier. It also might allow for the USS Akron and USS Macon both of which would be neat, if odd, inserts into the game. And yeah I know this isn't going to be a popular post.
The Ise and Tone (a cruiser version of the Ise) are among my favorite IJN ships.
Edit1: The Seiran could carry a torpedo, that was a design requirement for an attack on the Panama Canal locks or the dams feeding them.
Edit2: this would be a lot easier to play with the older carrier mechanics....
The old carriers had a steeper learning curve and those who could get a grip of it loved the system, but the ever elusive wider audience appeal killed a great system for this. As for the claim the old system was too complicated I counter with the statement EVE Online has been running for damn near 20 years with a learning cliff instead of curve.
I agree though the old system likely would have made her a bit better with much better situational awareness.
Just a correction in a slight mistake here at 1:41, the 4 IJN fleet carriers didn't lost the majority of its airgroup in the Battle of Midway. Only the carrier Hiryu who suffered that.
What the IJN lost during that battle aside from their 4 fleet aircraft carriers were their experienced maintenence crew.
Also, the Kido Butai lost its experienced airgroups at the Guadalcanal campaign and the Battle of Santa Cruz Islands is the 'nail in the coffin' for those experienced airgroups.

Another factor is one of the pair, Hyuga, suffered an explosion in turret 5 while gunnery practice was going on just before the Midway operation. The IJN had time to remover the wreck of the turret and cover the barbette with a steal plate. 25mm AA guns were mounted on it. I wonder if they will eventually do Mogami? The same conversion was done to her after Midway.

The swedes built a similar ship called the HMS Gotland (1933)(hans majestäts skäpp).
Which was a cruiser hybrid, this ship was also upgraded twice and was from time of it's creation designed to be a cruiser hybrid.
Just what the game needs, more planes that can attack low tier ships that most of them have no AA.. WG is slowly destroying any strategy left into this game. Concilment is becoming completely useless, ships designed around it will be collecting dust at the port..
The main issue is the broken mechanic where you are auto-spotted if firing. It should be dependent on your stealth as well as the caliber of the guns.
Then make bigger maps. Have Yamato fire 50km and introduce "earth's curvature" so that you won't see Yamato firing because your horizon is at best 20-25km

Jingles, the M6A2 was a design that had been proposed and only one single prototype of this model was ever built. It was outfitted with a Mitsubishi MK8P engine rated at 1560 HP. So its not a made up plane, but it definitely never really got out of the design phase to go into production.

Edit: Jingles 120 knots is so slow, the Ryuujous biplane torpedo bombers go 20 knots faster and the B5N goes 30 knots faster

I don't play WoWS, but why WG would put this - this - thing - into the game, even in the light of the TONS of problems carriers have caused over the years, boggles my mind.
Jingles according to Wikipedia M6A1 can carry one type 91 torpedo, which makes sense considering one of their plans was to attack one of the locks on the Panama Canal

The dreadnought battleship pre-carrier modification hull is in the game, its the sister to the Ise: the Hyuga. If you want to play a carrier hybrid get the Ise. If you want six fourteen inch turrets get the Hyuga, no need to add seperate hulls to choose from as they're both already there.
I still love the idea of this game so damn much, but I just don't have the in-game skill to ignore all the ways Wargaming seems to want to suck the fun out of it.
And even if I was a super unicum player I probably would still hate what they are doing to it but at least I'd be having fun bashing in the skulls of baby sealtatoes...
I dread the time when they implement submarines into the game, as if carriers weren't enough?? Why can't they just implement a feature for the player to choose wether they want games with or without carriers?? Oh right, that's because then they will have to admit that basically ONLY CV players want to play matches with CVs in them. And even without CVs there's so much OP bullshit going on in some cases. I completely stopped grinding certain lines simply because they are not competitive in any way, shape or form compared to the rest.
I'll just keep grinding for the two weeks of premium I got left which I got for free and then not touch the game again for a long while...
a buddy or mine's father joined the US Army Air Corps before Pearl Harbor, Jingles. He was an avionic specialist and stationed in the Panama Canal zone for the duration. While canoeing on the canal he was strafed by a japanese float plane of some persuasion. The pilot missed, and 17 years later my buddy was born, later in 1959. Wonder where that plane came from?...

And of course the toxic game mechanics and by now compulsory made up designs because WG cant be bothered to make any sort of mental effort to balance anything.
To be fair Jingles, WG make a lot of questionable decisions when it comes to equipping carriers with planes that don't make a lot of sense *Looks at Germany with their TA-152 torpedo/dive bombers, you know, the high altitude interceptor, yes that TA-152*

Actually Jingles: The Aichi M6A2 Seiran did exist in a limited number. They were used as attack planes on the I-400 series submarine aircraft carrier for covert attacks on the Panama canal and continental US.

I like the idea of different hull variants you can choose with Ise, whether it's the hybrid bb/cv variant or the upgraded BB variant. Makes it more appealing to own imo.
A battleship with the longest range torpedoes of any battleship in the game basically.
*Actually Jingles,* the handful of Yokosuka D4Y1 Suisei dive bombers assigned to Ise and Hyuga IRL weren't floatplanes. They were standard carrier-based planes, aside from the addition of the rocket boosters. How were they supposed to get back onto the ships after bombing a target?
They weren't. It was a one-way trip.
Also, the M6A1 Seiran *was* designed to carry torpedoes. The plan was for them to torpedo the locks of the Panama Canal.

The Dreadnought Version of Ise does exist in the game. It's called Hyuga (sister ship of Ise) and is a Tier 7 premium battleship.
But back to Ise: There is a problem with these ships. While they are some kind of aircraft carrier, it seems that the matchmaking rules for aircraft carriers do not apply to these ships. A clanmate of me had a very bad experience, as he fought in a Tier 6 battle. There was a full Ise-Division in the enemy team and of course the regular aircraft carrier. So they had pretty much 4 carriers. On the other hand, the team of my clanmate had only one (the regular carrier) and had only normal battleships matched against the Ises. I think its not that surprising, that the Ise-team won.
The SEIRAN did exist my friend. It was what they carried on the I400 series Submarine Carriers x 3. They were planning on bombing the Panama Canal locks with this plane, and they already had floats as they were designed as a float plane. As stated before, I modeled and textured this plane in Blender years ago for War Thunder, but I didn't finish modeling the cockpit so War Thunder wasn't enthused about it. I should dig it back our. I was also working on the Glen, and should get it back out also. Anyway these were Fast as hell for sea planes and carried a Large Bomb weight, along with Torp or Bomb. they had no forward machine guns, but carried a 12.7mm machine gun in the back seat for the gunner/radioman. the rear gun was on a very elaborate mechanism that would allow the gun to be stowed, and or raised about 2 feet in height to shoot, and forced the gunner to stand in the rear seat that was lowered slightly and the gunner had a harness that was attached around his waist so he shouldn't fall out. Like the Kate the problem with these planes is that in a sand box game like War Thunder, you get shot up real quick.
In real life you could get in real trouble if you ran into enemy fighter planes, but there was a lot of planes that were easy to kill even with forward guns.
Anyway, Yes it was a real plane. There are some good photo's online of one thats being restored.

Ise is fun to whack DD, just fly around and permanent spot them.
The Ise has been in WoWS:Blitz for about a year already. It's a prem ship that's available for purchase occasionally
The dreadnought battleship version of Ise exists at T7 in the form of her sister Hyuga. She's pretty good and the only IJN ship with reload booster.
