I've been away from turning for several years and your the first video I seen in awhile and now I feel I have to turn a bowl. Thanks for posting. And I watch you use a scraper I've been holding mine wrong. Mine is laid flat on the wide portion and you turn yours 90 degrees on to the smaller flat. Is that how everyone uses a scraper? I'm gonna try it because my way hasn't worked to good!

It depends on what you are working on. Cleaning up the bottom third with a conventional scraper would be flat on the rest with a slightly raised handle. Cleaning up a bit of the wall like I was doing, I was shear scraping which is not very aggressive.

It was definitely a concern that caused me to reevaluate how to chuck it.

I am impressed by the shavings you are getting off a burl with a scraper!

It was dry and hard. And I kept a fresh burr on my scraper.

Very nice. That burl really turned out well. When you were doing the shear scraper on the inside of the bowl, what angle did you have it at? It was difficult to judge from the video

Arthritis gloves are nice. They are fingerless and very tight to your hand.
