- When I think about "Subaru" and "rally" this is the car that comes first to my mind. That crazy flat-4 engine rumble (thanks to the unequal lenght headers) garnished by those pops and bang caused by the turbo anti-lag system. Enjoy a couple of Subaru 555 in action!

TheMick26 HP isn’t high if they are running UEL’s, it’s impossible to make high power on UEL’s, EGT’s are so high you’ll blow even a built engine...

@@themenace3145 no I’m not, and your lack of a logical argument is proof that I’m not. Restricting a cylinder bank with longer runners causing heat buildup is a major issue in terms of power as the chance of detonation is far higher, meaning you can’t max certain setups out without straining key components like cylinders. You can’t make as much power as you can with a equal length setup, that’s a fact. A equal length setup with say a Garrett GTX3071r will peak the same numbers as an unequal setup with a larger GTX3076r. Difference is the smaller equal length setup is going to have a far broader torque curve and will spool quicker, not only due to an equal length setup providing superior flow to the turbine housing, but running the smaller turbo. On an unequal setup the exhaust pulses collide in the collector losing energy, which translates to slower spool and less power.
The turbo sound - 4WD - Machine Gun Single Exhaust - the roar of the 4 cylinder Boxer - those classic round head lights - Blue Body with Gold Wheels - The 1990s feels you get from the classic body shape - The unique 4WD system - the video games which prssented this car on - All of the mentioned points is what weights the love of this Imprezza which still impress the true fans of this iconic rally car :)

@@markosbourne5967 calling me an idiot and you think the “rumble” has anything to do with how the connecting rods are mounted? The “rumble” comes from exhaust pulses colliding in the collector where the runners meet for each bank..... the inefficient unequal exhaust manifold is the cause. How come fa20’s or JDM ej207 version 8 doesn’t rumble? Equal length manifolds so they can run a twin scroll turbine, they sound like any other turbo 4 cylinder... you can make a Honda rumble, 1320 made an unequal manifold for 90’s D series, I can link vids for you if you’d like.....

The 1995 Rally STI is, by far, the best sounding Subaru ever (Rally Legacy 92 as well). because of that UEL headers.

Nice video man of these great cars!! I’ve had 5 over the last 16yrs.. they were common-ish at start but not now..i get a lot of compliments when I take mine out..people really like seeing them. Mine sounds f-in awesome man... full 3” decat piston to bumper..with rifle shots when you hit limiter..unequal but starts to blare at about 5000rpm...so good. 👍🏻🎌

There are many great sounding rally cars. Basically all of the group b cars, the stratos, the 405 T16, the 911 porsche and the subaru to name a few.

Because WRC use equal length header unlike the Group A still uses unequal length header technology

@@iToxicTritton no, it’s a proven fact that EL’s not only offer superior peak power numbers and top end, but also quicker spool and a broader torque curve. With UEL’s exhaust pulses collide on the collector to make that sound. When they collide they lose energy, resulting in loss of power, spool and response...

the motor will blow up regardless, also in some cases like group N (im not sure on group A) they were not allowed to change the headers and most of the car's drivetrain had to remain stock. running anti-lag is generally not good for these motors in the first place and they would generally blow up pretty easily because its a subaru.
