I used to instruct at Prodrive and knew Colin very well he drove my Metro 6R4 which I won the 1990 uk championship in and he bought one immediately I must say to have Colin McRae sat in the passengers seat awe inspiring and when he drove my car he was a convert immediately ! The smile on his face I will never forget and he took to the 6R4 like a duck to water ! I went testing with him many times in the Subarus right from the legacy to the StI it was a pleasure to sit next to him his driving was ballistic to say the least . I also worked for Pentti Airikkala teaching left foot braking at his rally school I couldn’t believe when he called me up up to ask if I was available he taught me so much . I also instructed at both Silverstone rally schools in FWD Peugeot 206 and the venerable ref escort RS 2000 back to basics but so much fun to instruct in , handbrake turns , power slides , scandi flicks and they’re the easiest to drive and teach in . Patrick Snijers is a good pal of mine and came over to Cyprus to stay a week with me and go out on our Azimuth yacht but the weather was bad all week and Patrick was and is one of my hero driver along with the king in my view Henri Toivonen and I went over to Finland to say with his brother Harri and it was sublime to hold a pair of Henris overalls my hero rally driver . I loved that era of rallying and wish I could winter clock back to the 80’s !

Good luck then you like it book a one to one day where it will be just you and and instructor much more productive and of course much more driving . I have many instructor friends I can recommend and schools who would give you a good discount . Contact me anytime if you want to give it a go .
@@stevensofroniou i try to take my kids now on this path of both bike and cars, everything with wheels , to say. Virtual driving also. If you know where i could go in France, north of Paris.....i'll take it 🙂

I’m actually in Cyprus I have been for twenty years and it was my intention to build a track ( I had investors money plus my own ) to make a driving academy for rally and circuit racing training etc . I even had the right contacts with the government and police to train them to drive correctly as they don’t have any training whatsoever and I have enough police instructors to teach them in pursuit driving on the roads because that’s specialised and I don’t instruct that I am a former rally champion in the uk in 1990 and went on to instruct for Prodrive and even taught the interceptors how to drive the Subaru Impreza STI’s at their private test track in Warwickshire , I also instructed at Aston Martin at their test track at Gaydon and for both Silverstone rally schools also left foot braking with Pentti Airikkala the master of the art ! At his school in Bray . The only problem was we are a very small population here it’s hardly million and longevity was a concern . I don’t know any schools in Greece but will do some research for you and report back for you . There were some hurdles to overcome but I’d rather not speak about them on here only face to face with you I’m sure you understand. I’ll get back to you George about schools in Greece . That's mad where has that time gone. I had the WRX 18 years ago 320bph. My 1 year old daughter loved it. She used to giggle like crazy when I put my foot down. She's desperate for one now. She's also a mechanic apprentice. Something stuck. 😂

Just a reminder of how balls out this guy was, and what a car the Impreza was when they both debuted. Pure man and machine as one. The sound rivals the Audi Quattro 5 cylinder- not quite as unique but still barks and spits; unequal length headers sound so raw and amazing. Love it!

Love how the top right icon looks like a check engine light and the left a brake issue. Let's be honest, the sound is great, but, you cannot afford to build one or look after one and use it without a blank cheque. The road car is a world apart from the rally car.
