Dillon Trotechaud Motovlogs It’s a boxer. Boxers and flat engine are actually different. A boxer uses one crank pin per piston, but a flat engine uses one crank pin for 2 pistons.
Subaru the only distinctive sound in rally you will never forget, that angry sound we all missed in rally. Someone did describe it to me they said it's like angry hornets the size of bulls put into a drum & then got shaking.

@@jordigerards Was gonna say, nothing else ever burned into my memory like the sound of two of these wonderful 5cyls flying past me at like 1,5m distance (it was a safe spot designated by the organizers) in short succesion.

mine does it only with blow off valve hooked up because of the rich condition it causes between shifts. when i use the stock/recirculation it doesnt pop.

Most def as the gc8 gen was more versatile and raw compared to later gen wrx technology and emissions restrictions.

Brings back memories of when I attended Rally Australia in Perth in the mid-1990's. I remember attending scrutineering and being able to walk around one of the 555 cars after it passed. I even crawled under and took a photo of the scrutineering tab that was placed on the rear axle!
22B really is the best sounding subaru ever, totally raw and mechanic, low thick engine sound with the exhaust goes papapapap

Jessica Messica classic eye? I believe you are referring to the “mean eye” found in gc8’s? I’m not saying you are wrong but I’ve never heard the term “classic eye” I guess the mean eye was the first generation hence why people call it classic eye?
PS. Yeah I’m referring to the mean eye/gc8. It’s also known as the classic eye, which I called it since I personally think it looks more classic than it does mean, but for a better blend of names, I’ll change it.

My most favorite Japanese vehicle ever since I began appreciating these vehicles as a young 7-year-old while watching on the sidelines the grueling Great East African Safari Rally within the beautiful oceanside city of Mombasa in Kenya (E. Africa)
