Steven C all the way until 2014 they came that way. Idk if the wrx or sti of today has them tho. They definitely don’t sound the same. They still sound great but not this great.
This car with McRae driving it is just as iconic as Senna in his MP4/4, or Jim Clark in his 49. A picture does more than words can. When I think of a blue Impreza, Colin is the first thing I remember.
That car is in perfect control at all times. The driver and the car compliment each other for sure. That guys so good, and the car allows him to be. Such a good car.
I have to say this is a million times cooler than any Ferrari, Lambo, McLaren and the like. Just way too cool to be true. And look at how dangerously close those spectators are, Colin must've been absolutelty confident he has full control over the car, which is just astonishing considering the super slippery road condition.
For me he was the King of the drift angle. Some say Walter Röhrl it is, but Colin always slided more graceful around the corners then any other Rally driver.
Since I was a kid I have loved this car Used to watch Colin rallying and thought one day I will buy it... and hey now I do :) And yes.... God rest his soul
Brings me back to my childhood. This Subaru and Colin are the reasons why I fell in love with rallying. Any time I see this car I get a smile on my face
Colin McRae is my hero, that's why I have a decal on my passenger's side dash commemorating him. It's has his signature, famous quote, "if in doubt, flat out", along with his years of living inside an outline of his 22b. He's also the reason I have "Subaru World Rally Team" stickers on bot my rear passenger windows. He was a beast driver and was the reason I've always loved Subarus growing up. The first car I bought myself and still drive every day is a WRX STI. It all stems from Colin and the impression he made on me as a kid. Absolute legend.
Best Mix: -Boxer engine -Twin Turbo -Whipple SC -Symmetrical AWD -3 Limited-Slip Differentials (1 Ferguson+2 Electronical Diffs) -A lightweight body Like if u agree :)
2.5Boxer Powered I would say v8 and twin turbo, v8 for power and twin turbo for crazy acceleration and v8 is also in super cars, and trucks depends on what it’s geared to but I would rather v8 then boxer so for me v8 supercharged twin turbo and yes I’m late commenting
Mcrae did leave Subaru in the end of 1998, to drive for Ford in 1999, and Juha Kankkunen and Richard Burns drove the Imprezas in 1999. Also Richard Burns drove for Mitsubishi in 1997 and 98. This footage seems to be from 97 and 98. The other drivers in Subaru in 1997 and 98 were : Kenneth Eriksson, he left Subaru in 1998 to drive for Hyundai, the second Subaru was driven by Italian Piero Liatti in 1998, he drove the second Subaru, in the tarmac events in 1997.
Don't forget Possum Bourne from NZ. He drove nothing but subaru from the early 80s until his untimely death in 2003. Was team mate to Ari Vatinen with the legacy. Then campaigned ex Mcrae wrc 98 then ex I think kankuhnen wrc 2000.
Rex Holes, yes some rc cars are pretty real in driving capabilities and performance according to the size, others though are very unrealistic. I use a Kyosho Fazer VE-X myself, the evo version, but i'm planning to get a subaru body for it.
I remember seeing McRae in Grisedale after he had rolled his Subaru Legacy. The car was destroyed with pine tree branches sticking out it and he was still FLAT OUT. RIP CM, you were amazing ❤️
Shame they don't let you go watch the cars in the forest anymore (or at least last time I tried) you just have to go walk around the service area at the farmer's market near penrith
everyone in the comments talking about colin mcrae and saying RIP to him. but dont even realize that burns also was a british world champion that died tragically died way too young. makes me so sad i swear all these people only come here because they saw mcraes name in a video game. so sad and disrespectful. both WRC legends. RIP.
Not to undertake Burns, but what lead people here is Colin's capability to solo keep Subaru as Constructor's Champion for years in a row and bring the world's eyes towards a Japanese brand and car that would set a legend even bigger than four-time Driver's champion Tommi Makinen, both of which inspired Evo VI T.M.E. and 22B. It is sad that people care more for living gods. Burns is not irrelevant, but you saying that Colin is known for games is quite the same as Ayrton Senna is known for the same reason. Also, R.I.P. Niki Lauda.
His hair-pin drifts are a thing of beauty
Same thoughts.. So accurate ❤️
Utter perfection!
@Meowscles With Lynx no one's born with this talent what you talking bout
Yes absolutely stunming🤧🔥

You're not the only one, bro! 😁

The good old days when Subaru and Mitsubishi were ruling :')
the good old days b22 or sti's vs evos.
The older subarus sound so much better. Bring back that sound.
surf jujitsu it’s just el (equal length) headers
Older Subarus have unequal length heathers like my 2004 sti 👌
Steven C all the way until 2014 they came that way. Idk if the wrx or sti of today has them tho. They definitely don’t sound the same. They still sound great but not this great.
@@imoffendedthatyouareoffended Not true, some models have had EL headers since the Version 8, plus the car in vid is using ELH
Suicide Subie Current WRXs have FA engine with ELH. Current STIs still have the old EJ with UEL.
The sound of that exhaust and turbo is music to my ears....
The days of the Impreza and the Evo are sorely missed 💔
I still have mine Spec D prodrive since 06 and now she’s in garage new Gearbox my neighbours hate me for her noise but hey ho 😂😂 daily driver too😂
Some say Colin was born holding a set of Subaru keys.
+Saylor S No his mother sat in a subaru that's how he was conceived.
His dad is a Subaru
But all we know... his name is Colin
He actually started rally in a Ford
No he wassent he just got sponsored lmao
One of the greatest Rally cars ever!
Shawna Graham Just the greatest rally car ever, period.
Now WRC without SUBARU is really boring
Shawna Graham with one of the greatest rally drivers behind the wheel!
Is not about the card, is about who's driving it !
Lol bullshit... 306 destroy this car at this period don t forget plz...
4:25 I literally had chills, I re-watched it again and again and again... DAMN
Loïs Castellon awesome 😍
only McRae can do that....Fast cornering drift.
yenny limanto I’m late but that wasn’t a drift it was a powersilde
Yeah it looked like he pulled the handbrake to make that tight hairpin. He didn’t flick it like the other turns
Colin Mcrae's dad did that too

I wouldn’t say perfect control, there was a reason he garnered the nickname Colin McCrash. Although he was truly a treat to watch.
@@EMan-hr5vf Ken Block also crashed a lot, these crazy and fast drivers do that. Richard Burns drove Subaru too, yet he rarely crashed.
If you don’t crash every once in awhile are you really going fast enough?

The 22B or GC8 Impreza is my favorite Subaru of all time.
Driven by McRae and Bunta Fujiwara both made a mark in my life lol
Bunta fujiwara drives type r version V and 22b is special car made for mcrae as a gift It did not use in rally
@@akinaspeedstarso 22B couldnt compete because of the displacement tho
I always hate on racing videos with music . I am here to love this one without music. Thank you for allowing us to STILL see Colin in action , rip
those Scandinavian flicks

How can someone dislike this video? It's pure enjoyment
Didn't matter what the terrain was. What a bloody legend! RIP Colin. You still entertain me in 2024.
You should've seen me drive carts at target
Do you drift them? I sure as hell do , I'll get some speed and put it sideways and drift it right into the aisle I want
Reece I work at a grocery store and all day long I’m pulling power slides, big old drifts, the works,
Levi howard and you make Subaru sounds and tire screech sounds.... no? Just me?
We need a league where there’s literal BODY KITS for the CART, also we need a lil motorbike engine in them with pedals and everything and Im in.
