Great tips I really need. Also, I love the way Preston handles little slips and bloopers. Rather than stopping the recording and editing them out, he turns them into entertaining snippets.
This video reminds me of my late grandma. She was an expert at removing stains. No wonder my late grandpa loved and appreciated her a lot. Maybe she would have used the same ways just like on this video, but wish I could ask her the secrets of her magic... May you rest in peace, Grandma..
I learned to carry a Shout wipe as recommended by Sven, and they’re incredibly helpful. You can tell the appreciation from others when you handed a wipe to them!
Great video as usual! To be frank it's not so much the tie stains I worry about but rather the bullet holes when someone tries to 'ventilate' me, signed Peter Gun !
We used a few vintage items in Raphael's collection; no Fort Belvedere accessories were harmed in the making of this video--but if they had been, we still could have gotten the stains out! :) - Preston
Thank you for this, very helpful. One should also avoid stains by not eating on buses, but if it is a long bus ride you may want to take your jacket and or tie off.
there is nothing more annoying than getting advice from a hundred people saying how to avoid getting a stain on your tie, when the reason you looked up this video is because you already have a stain
It’s probably the alcohol in the hairspray that is doing the work so I would just use alcohol versus hairspray because hairspray also contains silicones (which are oily) and fragrances and other such chemicals that might exacerbate a stain..
I would love to have a life free of commitments where I could watch a video like this without screaming at my phone to get to the F’ing point. Even on 2x speed I learned literally nothing I couldn’t have read in bullet points on my initial google search.
Why would anyone own or wear a tie if it's that complicated to clean?! As a woman I've never owned anything that was that complicated. It's very sad, because I needed a tie for work and it got spots on it....
@Anthony K That's OK if it's polyester. Only a few drycleaners in each city know how to properly clean a silk tie. That's why advice on how to spot clean is so valuable. I started out in life studying to be a chemical engineer, then I built my own factory to manufacture speciality chemicals for general purpose cleaning. The advice given by Preston is First Class. As he correctly says ---- Drycleaning is a last resort. On the other hand I have a wool suit with a specially made bag allows you to avoid drycleaners by just throwing the bag bag into the washing machine, then following ínstructions. Phil.
They have absolutely no idea how to handle so garments. I tried three Places in my city and wound up doing a better job myself. They also shrank a wool coat of mine… I don’t take anything to the dry cleaner anymore. There’s pretty much nothing you can’t deal with at home.
Another solution Don't buy silk product Buy normal products Microfiber or polyester or cotton ties Easy to clean with Persil Gil and water Use steamer to get them ironed . Enjoy
I really love that you guys just keep the bloopers in there, just to show what an eloquent speaker Preston is!

The three of you seem to have so much fun together while still working together!

YES! I needed this because my tie got dirty from ketchup... I'm so clumsy.
Use talcum power to remove oil on silk or other materials! Fine powder absorbs the oil and then can be brushed off !

Preston. Much needed advice presented with attention to detail without slipping into boredom. Phil.
Another great and useful video. Great. 👍👍
Awesome. This is so helpful. Thank you Mr. Preston. I am glad you all care enough about giving us this wonderful help
Wonderful video :) Your team are awesome!
Hope you understand my last statement! Love you guys!

Im insanely clumsy and got a lot of stains on my tie and shirt at lunch so thank you 😩
This is a keeper although with expensive clothes I am extremity cautious. Thank you again.
Very helpful thanks for posting 😊
How do I best remove the unpleasant smell of sweat from my neck ties? Is club soda enough or would you suggest to try out backing soda?
Can we take some time to salute the Fort Belvedere products damaged in the making in this video?

Much needed
good video. I thrifted some high end ties with small discoloration on them, I'll try these methods to see if they can be saved
It worked?

And should you dilute rubbing alcohol with water? Or just pure on the stain? Thanks !
I found the hairspray works well to get ink out of silk

Thank you!!!!
Get to the point. 20 different things NOT to do. Only real recommendation for old stains was apply powders and dab ink with rubbing alcohol…
Where’d you get that navy tie Preston?
Baking powder vs baking soda for oil stains also dawn dish soap (degreaser)
Vinegar / Alcohol will bleach the Silk right? The colors will fade
I need this. My tie has a stain luckly I can hide the stain with my suit.
Can polyester ties be thrown in the washing machine??
Better to hand wash.
They might get twisted and end up choking themselves leaving deep dents in the fabric.
French chalk over talcum powder, and if you have a blood stain, then the saliva of the bleeder is the most helpful. I joke not.
It is true !
sweat isn't organic?

Go to about 13 minutes . But anyway ,the answer is Baking Soda powder ! Talk about stringing it out .
Oh cow! is not an expression I've heard before! I sense your exasperation.....
Beard oil gives me the worst stains 😢🍷

This video came out like 3 weeks too late.
who here from tiktok
Seeing the stains being made on the ties actually made me cringe. It was a good, informative video, though!
:)
Just take it to the cleaners
