How dare you not to mention the Shogun Album? Holy sakes, this one kills it. Kirisute Gomen blasts your head right away... Besides, you're a funny bro! Got my sub. Go Ahead dude!
Anthem is your epitome of Trivium? Genuinely surprised me as I think it's a weak single from one of their weaker/weakest albums. "A Gunshot To The Head of Trepidation" is the epitome of Trivium either that or most of Shogun (by far their best record)
I agree with Shogun as their best album, but I don't know if they'll ever go back to that progressiveness. :( I think "Like Light to the Flies" was their epitome, showing off what I think they're best at: shredding, yet melodic guitar solos and riffs.
I think "a gunshot to the head of Trepidation" is the epitome of Trivium. One thing that makes Trivium sound different is their black metal progressions that they seem to incorporate in many songs. What follows every album is the black metal element. The beginning riff to "gunshot" starts with an octave playing the sinister chorded notation that is prominent in black metal. "Kirisute gomen" as well as this new single (towards the end breakdown). Ember to inferno had a strong black metal root to it in general.
Sure Shogun is their best. But I guess I'm one of the few people who loves The Crusade. It's different, it's catchy and I can't help but love it. From vengeance falls onward I've been not as excited about their stuff. But this new album looks promising :)
I think the pacing and melody of the song helps to make that ending absolutely sick. I just really wish that ending went on for a little longer. I can't complain though. This was faster/heavier than anything on Silence in the Snow. BTW, I loved the song Silence in the Snow, but just about everything else on that album was just alright. I hope this new album has more stuff like this.
cbmetalgod88 I would have been okay with SITS, but the album lacked one thing. Decent solos, I wish they just played their heart out with the solos but you can tell they kept everything to a minimum because they wanted commercial press. They got it, and let down all their fans. But you know what? It might have been a marketing ploy, SITS took 10 months to record. I think what really happened was they were mainly working on songs for this new album and the SITS was a marketing strategy to gain publicity for when this album drops.
I don't listen to the radio, so I have no idea if Silence in the Snow made a dent into radio play. I've been a fan of Trivium from the beginning and I wasn't let down by their last album. But, I can say it's the album I listen to the least. It's got a few songs that I enjoy, but you are right about the lack of solos and the lack of harsh vocals doesn't really help. It's a slower album, but well produced. To each his own I guess. Looking forward to this next one. I love the two songs they released, so hopefully it only gets more epic from here.
I personally don't think it had anything to do with commercialism or trying to make "a good radio song" type of scenario. Matt Heafy had blown out his voice while on tour prior to making SITS and I don't think they wanted to push his vocals to the limit as it could have permanent damage to the voice box. So, I think they wanted to keep the songs light, slow, and melodic rather than "in your face" metal. However, Corey could have thrown in some harsh vocals and there could have certainly been more/longer solos to help bring the album up to a Trivium standard they had set years ago. I'm looking forward to the next one though. In a Documentary they just released, Matt said that he didn't want to go back to the way he was screaming before because it was completely wrong, but said, this album was so good, he would have been disappointed if he didn't go back to that. He also admitted that while singing live, he learned a technique that is safe for screaming and sounds about the same as the recording, but in an isolated room, it just doesn't sound that great. Very excited for the next one.
cbmetalgod88 Holy shit RUclips didn't notify me of your comment. You're right he didn't want to hurt his vocals. Though I think they could still play some crazy solos to keep an element of theirs if they can't bring back shouts or screams.
Matt Moreno In waves was the black album of Trivium. In waves slowed down a bit but still had sick riffs, solos, and vocals. VF was a bit too David Draiman to me. Not a fan of Disturbed. SITS just completely dropped everything. Didn't like it at all.
If you didn't react to it already I would suggest reacting to the chapman studio version of Down From The Sky, I think you would love it even if you already know the original, it has a "different flavor". Great videos though!
Anthem lol have you ever listened to Metallica before? That song, along with most of the Crusade sounds like a Metallica tribute album. SHOGUN is the epitome of Trivium, my friend. Go and listen to it, now.
Dude. if you love old Trivium react to Thrown into the fire. its soo heavy nasty and badass you wont regret it!
Dude, you need to seriously expand your catalog if this is the longest song you’ve heard lol

WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING AT ME
The song shogun is definitely the epitome of trivium... Literally showcases their entire style
Pillars of serpants and all the other songs that were released last year are from their first album just re released
Jake W
Pillars of serpent got rerecorded for Japanese records only though
Finally I've found a real natural reaction, you know so much about metal structure and I agree with you. Subscription :)
Breakpeace I appreciate it friend, thank you. :)
To each there own but I love that they are 50/50 with the screaming and singing
In Waves. Nuff said.
Matt Moreno
In waves was the black album of Trivium.
In waves slowed down a bit but still had sick riffs, solos, and vocals.
VF was a bit too David Draiman to me. Not a fan of Disturbed.
SITS just completely dropped everything. Didn't like it at all.
Matt Moreno In Waves was when Trivium went downhill. Sin and the Sentence is a return to form.

Those songs that released last yet are re releases. They re released the whole album Ember to Inferno again.
You do know Pillars of Serpents and the others are just re-release from their earlier years? :P

Trivium es una mezcla de metalcore, thrash y power metal
