I've followed Trivium for years, since Ascendancy. In High School I actually wrote a column for my school newspaper and actually got a hold of Matt for it, to just talk about Trivium's direction, (this was right after they dropped Travis Smith, their first drummer), and had brought in Nick Augusto (still one of my favorite trivium members), and I asked a lot of questions, about Augusto, the band. I closed with this question: "Where do you see Trivium in 15 years?" Matt K. Heafy replied to me: "Making the music we want to make." It's now been almost 10 years since I published that article. Needless to say, Matt has stuck pretty true to that. He's developed as an artist. Music is first and foremost an expression of feeling and emotion. Matt has never sold out. He has never given into the mainstream media fully. He has always made the music he and the band want to make, and he has never settled for less. Yes, Shogun was amazing. Yes, Ascendancy was stellar. Yes we all loved Ember, and yes, nothing has been the same. But I think that's part of the maturing process for Matt and the band. And we either support him as an artist, in return for creating music that has given us what we wanted. Or we ditch Matt in the dirt and find someone else who is less mature than Matt. I for one, will stand by Matt, because he and the members of Trivium, have given me 10+ years of awesome metal. I may not like every song, but I didn't like the entire crusade album either. But I am a Trivium fan. And I always will be. And that means standing by the decisions the bands make.
What do you think of the new drummer Alex Bent? He's killing it right now! This song seems a little simple for his typical style, but his drum fills in this track are outstanding for the song structure! It took a few listens but Trivium have found a great drummer!
Underrated? They took their sophomore release platinum shortly after its release, not even Metallica could have done that at the same point in time that their career was at.
Agreed idk anyone personally who ever heard of them. I heard them first time back when five finger death punch first came out back years and years years ago

I look up to the guy as one of the best guitarists of our time, a lot of his new music isn't like his old stuff but dont hate, everyone changes their style of music.. Maybe not the best vocalist but he went from playing in high school battle of the bands to being signed to Lifeforce records and then ultimately Roadrunner records and I wish him the best. Matt you the man!

Yeah this is known as "Heavy Metal", it's not too aggressive or too extreme in any way, but perfectly balanced between heaviness (grooviness) and still keeping it melodic and emotional and a little energetic. I never heard of Trivium before last year, but I ended up seeing them at a Iron maiden concert in Seattle, and they immediately became one of my favorite bands of all time, I hope you guys keep producing music, your a great band and wonderful performers, and to be honest I enjoyed watching you guys perform just as much if not more than Iron Maiden itself. Great songs, and definitely one of my most memorable experiences ever.

Ekaj Gaint The Sin and the Sentence was more like a reformation, the True and New Trivium, their new drummer Alex Bent made all the songs so much better with them drum skills. The Album is seriously the most consistent, best produced, album I have ever heard from them
I actually don’t really love and listen to this kind of music, but when I heard trivium for the first time, I was fallen in love with them🤟TRIVIUM FOREVER!!!
I started listening to you guys just before Christmas, and you have already become my favourite band of all time. No one could believe how much your music has helped me through my tough times. Your music lets me forget about everything which happens around me for the amount of time I listen to it, and them moments are bliss. Thank you for helping me, you really are the most underrated band of all time.
Brotein 7 absolutely love Down From The Sky from that album. I do need to listen through shogun properly though, because my favourite album is Sin and The Sentence, but I haven’t listened to all the albums throughout yet.
it would be quite distracting tho, imagine how many car accidents this music would cause... 😅😂 not to mention how many revolutions it would create (that could topple any government)... maybe that's why they won't play this music on radio 🤣😂
This song reminds so much of my father and i.. a Lot of mistakes, but so much love... he passed way december 12. And my last gift from him was a ticket to knotfest december 19. Same week. Ive cried a Lot in this song. Love you, trivium
What's interesting is when people bash a song with no screaming then make pre-conceptions about a whole album but somehow forget Dying In Your Arms from Ascendancy. Melodic song with what, 5 seconds of screaming? Man open your minds guys, there's a whole word out there, explore it for a change. On a more positive, I like this direction. Has a mature Shogun-esque vibe to it. Can't wait.
Can I ask what exactly makes a 'generic, bland rock radio song'? Because barring a solo and that bridge section in Dying In Your Arms, these two songs share pretty much identical qualities and traits.
Yeah I can agree that it's certainly got more bite, no disagreement there. So does the dislike comes from the varying execution you can implicate on a song?
"You always walk away Soon you'll have to face it Your distance from reality won't bury or erase it I tried to do the same Living so complacent But the problems wouldn't go away so I turned around to face them" Perfect lyrics! Gives me chills every time
hits hard when your feeling good. hits harder when your filled with rage. never seems to be loud enough no matter how hard i try. more louder more better !
Today this song crossed my mind. Everytime wicked happens, i think what will it take! People dont learn unless they mourn, unfortunately. Its a sad cycle. 😢
I listened to Trivium a few years ago and loved it, had a break/ forgot about them and then they've produced this album?! They just got better and better.
Hell yea, October 20th is when the album comes out. The fall time just isn't the same without a Trivium album. Football, beautiful weather, and new Trivium albums are what I associate with Autumn.
This song in it's own right stimulates a situation in which your doing everything in your power to emotionally heal a certain someone that's having a fit of sheer angst.
I really appreciate the opportunity I was given by the people who make up the band known as Trivium. I can't think of any other band that I have jammed or toured with since High School that made me feel welcomed and an integral part of something. Again, even to this day. I say Thanks!
Arrow8D: David Draiman produces this band now as i'm sure you know by your comment. I don't like the direction Trivium is going in now ever since Draiman started producing them. There's no screaming or deep growls anymore like there first few albums. I seen Trivium when they were only 18-19yrs old in around 2003-2004@Harpos in Detroit opening for Danzig then I seen them there again opening for Children Of Bodom & Amon Amarth the same venue. But when I first seen them at Harpos being so young I was like this band is going places, I've always been good at seeing bands when there first starting out & going they have what it takes or they don't, I'm also a long time musician which obviously helps & I can appreciate it. Another band I seen at Harpos when they were still young & starting out was,"Halestorm" & they were opening for the Canadian band,"Theory Of A Deadman" who are a really solid band with quite a few hits & were discovered & supported by Nickleback but say what you will about Nickleback but there a good solid band & amazing live, if Nickleback wasn't as big as they are now & let's say a mediocre band still playing small bar venues I bet you any money people wouldn't be so harsh on them but that's what happens when you make it big, but anyways Halestorm was opening for Theory Of A Deadman & they just blew the roof off of the place, her voice is just ground pounding powerful. They blew Theory Of A Deadman away, I'm pretty sure T.O.A.D. were shitting there pants big time lol & there was barely any people there which was good for T.O.A.D. lol. Halestorm all came back to there merch table to sign autographs & take pictures & were very kind.

Have you listened to Sin and the Sentance ?! The hell are you talking about ! This Material is amazing , and so far this songs are the best ones they ever put out ! Also i own every album they made ! Guys are amazing and , i feel grateful i can listen to their music and their growing up !
Trivium has def changed since Draiman took over producing. I even said something on twitter and Matt was not exactly happy, asked me to take it down. You can hear the influence in their music now, especially in Vengeance Falls. Trivium needs to get their own sound back. This isn't "bad" but just not their sound ya know?
He is barely growling because he hurt his voice and had to retrain how to growl without hurting his throat. David Draiman only produced Vengeance falls
All of these guys are top notch incredibly talented musicians. This whole album is probably their best work yet. Long time fan and love their older stuff but jeeeeez this is good.
I’m 50 and havin some heavy issues at home. This cut revived me in a perspective I’ve had a hard time saying. Trivium def one of my top groups of current day!
Absolutely. I don’t understand how some people don’t get into any music at all. There’s some amazing shit out there waiting to be discovered. Some music almost inspires your soul and you can feel that energy coursing through your body. I used to be a singer in a band (yep one of those dudes) Performing live for hundreds of people is the most amazing feeling. It’s almost a religious experience for me. And when certain fans connect to your music and that energy you’re referring to? Best high of my life. (Not just a natural high) sorry. I love music and believe it could actually be a somewhat useful tool to bring us together as a society but people are to stubborn and stuck in their own ways. TL;DR Music Good People suck
I just saw this band in Rogers Arkansas in September and they were awesome. I had never heard of them until this show. But I guess my son has been following them since high school. Matt’s vocals and guitar playing are amazing.
@@mikeredrugger they were amazing. I’d never heard of them before but my son was there to see them. I listen to their music more now that I know who they are
I've listened to this like a dozen times now, and honestly it's such a good song... sure, it's repetitive, and there's no screams or solos, but man that riff is groovy as fuck, love the melody, I feel like the lyrics have meaning, and Matt's cleans are absolutely godly! Keep it up guys, October 20th can't come quick enough!
I totally agree. I don't mind songs like this from Trivium. Been a favourite band for me for years. Seen them live and in person. They're great people. I stand by trivium for their old and new music styles.
You never will bro. because there is nothing to be understood in there. As I mentioned little lower as a reply "Sofa critics" useless, worthless, meaningless, trying to pull blanket to their side pretending to make a great sense out of the middle of nowhere. I really tried a 1000 times to make up their mind...but again useless, worthless, meaningless) I think you've got my point, lets just listen to what they do and be happy of such a musics))
Over 12 million views. that's so awesome for a great band that always tries to promote a positive view! I've been following trivium since paolo had hair!
"It sucks because it does not have screams" comments incoming. Seriously, Matts singing has improved like a loooooot over the last year. Looking forward to hear this song live, kinda has some anthem-feel to it. Dope stuff!
Killer song. Cory's flawless riffs meld into the song and create an aura about it. Paolo gives it an ominous power; you can really tell he tinkered with the bass sound this go round during the production of the track. Alex creates the perfect rhythm for head banging. Matt's vocals have truly come full circle and you can see the hard work he has poured into his practicing. I truly admire this band for everything they do; it's really inspiring to see how hard they work coupled, with their creativity, and then let the finished product envelop you. Can't wait to see them live in Baltimore and listen to the whole album. Keep up the great work!
Sad to read some of these comments. Sux no screaming, then sux the screaming why can't we have the best of both worlds, the Sin and the Sentence has screaming. And I think both tracks are Great. Keep up th. Good work Trivium see you in October in Orlando
Well, it's been nearly a year since it's been released and my first 50 listen through's I could not stand this song at all, but now, I truly see it is a beautiful masterpiece. Maybe a year ago I was just not in the right place mentally to accept the message this song sends.
I love your music you are singing Please can the person come to my house and seeing the music please can your girlfriend come to my house and sing it for me
I was able to catch a video of my 5 yr old singing this...made me so happy. She calls "what the dead me say" her drum song and wants to hear it everyday before school. Then she catches on to this song just from hearing it around her makes me realize this music is the shit.
Thank you Matt, you inspired me to get into vocals, I was never very good at it but watching your progress over the years, from the first album to the latest you my friend made me a better vocalist! Thank you Trivium!
Trivium: Hey let's get heavier while still having melody and harmony coming from the guitars. Many other US hardrock and metal bands: Is that legal Metal bands from Europe: Yes.

Best modern band actually! Trivium really write their songs with the heart and soul.
Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold and Five Finger Death Punch are three of my favorite modern metal bands.
Maxwell Costa awsome song i get it
I luv the new rock
Heres one
LostInReverence gojira is the best band right now, trivium is still pretty good
I started listening to you guys just before Christmas, and you have already become my favourite band of all time. No one could believe how much your music has helped me through my tough times. Your music lets me forget about everything which happens around me for the amount of time I listen to it, and them moments are bliss. Thank you for helping me, you really are the most underrated band of all time.
Listen to Shogun. That's their best album in my opinion. Their recent albums are okay, but they were amazing before. This is far from their best work.
Brotein 7 absolutely love Down From The Sky from that album. I do need to listen through shogun properly though, because my favourite album is Sin and The Sentence, but I haven’t listened to all the albums throughout yet.
Man we need more music like this played more often on radio stations these days! Awesome!
for real
@@xmetalfreakx2550 real for.
it would be quite distracting tho, imagine how many car accidents this music would cause... 😅😂
not to mention how many revolutions it would create (that could topple any government)... maybe that's why they won't play this music on radio 🤣😂
This song reminds so much of my father and i.. a Lot of mistakes, but so much love... he passed way december 12. And my last gift from him was a ticket to knotfest december 19. Same week. Ive cried a Lot in this song. Love you, trivium
Sorry for your loss.
Can't wait.
Dying In Your Arms has teeth.
Can I ask what exactly makes a 'generic, bland rock radio song'? Because barring a solo and that bridge section in Dying In Your Arms, these two songs share pretty much identical qualities and traits.
Yeah I can agree that it's certainly got more bite, no disagreement there. So does the dislike comes from the varying execution you can implicate on a song?
really this is radio ready? I didn't know this fit the Taylor Swift / Justin Bieber crowd.
You can say the same thing the other way around, 1 song in the whole album, i would not use that as example tbh
"You always walk away
Soon you'll have to face it
Your distance from reality won't bury or erase it
I tried to do the same
Living so complacent
But the problems wouldn't go away so I turned around to face them"
Perfect lyrics! Gives me chills every time
Those lyrics and the riffs in the hook is what made me love this song
One of my favourite trivium songs i would definitely recommend The Sin And The Silence album to those who haven't got it yet
hits hard when your feeling good. hits harder when your filled with rage. never seems to be loud enough no matter how hard i try. more louder more better !
3 years later, still haven’t found out what it will take to rip the heart from there hate.
It is eternal.

This drummer is mind blowing!!!
Love that it shows his incredible talent
I love that this music video is so simple. It forces the listener to focus on the meaning of the song
Today this song crossed my mind. Everytime wicked happens, i think what will it take! People dont learn unless they mourn, unfortunately. Its a sad cycle. 😢

I can't think of a better thing than their new album to be released on my Birthday!!! Happy birthday ME! Trivium Forever!
makes 2 of us!!! we share a birthday!
Make that 3. Happy bday to us! ^_^ \m/
This comes out two days after my birthday, I'm planning on getting the deluxe boxed set on their website.
Can't wait for the day... this and Sons of Apollo are released the same day!
HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY!!!
I always avoided commenting on this video...
_But I've been silent for far too long_
This is a great song, that's it. Thanks for your time.
Its nice to see you are not alone ,that everybody goes through heart ache xx
I listened to Trivium a few years ago and loved it, had a break/ forgot about them and then they've produced this album?! They just got better and better.
Hell yea, October 20th is when the album comes out. The fall time just isn't the same without a Trivium album. Football, beautiful weather, and new Trivium albums are what I associate with Autumn.
What is it called?
Rebecca Devon almost positive it's called The Sin and the Sentence
+jlew332 Oh right, makes sense since they always have a title track and that's the first song they released
One of the best song i've ever heard in my entire life

I love this song.
Can`t wait the new album!
The energy this song transmits ia amazing
TL;DR Music Good
People suck
Alex Bent is an absolute machine! He played all of the drum tracks in one take. This guy needs to stay, permanently
I just saw this band in Rogers Arkansas in September and they were awesome. I had never heard of them until this show. But I guess my son has been following them since high school. Matt’s vocals and guitar playing are amazing.
I wish I had known they were going to be in Rogers I would have been there in a heart beat to see that show!!!
I really love that riff, i keep repeating it over and over
I totally agree. I don't mind songs like this from Trivium. Been a favourite band for me for years. Seen them live and in person. They're great people. I stand by trivium for their old and new music styles.
The fading/distortion (whatever you call it) of his voice in the beginning to start the song is really awesome it fits that intro riff so well
yeah you right. It sounds amazing.
Jason Bristow They copied the riff of another song. Don't believe me? Go listen to Gideon-The game
Dude my orchestra teacher is awesome! He is the one who told me to listen to this because of his knowledge of my music preferences! I LOVE IT!
a bullseye music recc is a rare king of blessing
I can't understand all the hate in the comments... I like me some melodic Trivium. Bring on the album, guys!
this song may be good but... is not what we spect from trivium.... personally a rather listen to de first albums instead of this
hey it's metfan!
I love they way the sound now I like this way they are going so far it's a lot better sounding then silence in the snow
Doctor Aven lol yeah most whiny elitists turn out to be slayer fans hahahahaha
Matt Heafy's voice is phenomenal
Best Trivium drummer ever.
Ravi Rana oh you said it 👍
Ravi Rana ♤ i wouldn't be getting to attached as the drummer never stayz that long unfortunately
Chris Larsson They've said nothing but good things for him, hoping he stays.
Ravi Rana yes
I'd have to disagree and go with Matt from ABR
This is an excellent song for our times. So many people out there have been indulging in hatred. What will it take to rip the heart from your hate?

Yup same!
Dope stuff!
Havent seen one comment about that. Shhh
I don't mind the lack of screams. I'm just disappointed by the lack of a good guitar solo.

At least he doesnt blow his voice out anymore :^)
they will start coming soon enough.
The new drummer is insane!!!
Devan Gunaseelan Yeah insanely mediocre
VEGAN ZUMEBIES haha says the keyboard warrior
Pleasant surprise to see a good fit with Alex Bent, whom I didn't know. I love the fills in this one.
Mediocre? Lol go listen to his other band Braindrill and say he's mediocre.
Agreed
the heart from ure hate? love this phrase...god, the only key for stop the hate is the love, loving who’s hating u, always and no matter why
This is not creative.
Define "creative" for me please.
You hear something that I don't hear ...
Matt Heafy we have recognized you !
Sad to read some of these comments. Sux no screaming, then sux the screaming why can't we have the best of both worlds, the Sin and the Sentence has screaming. And I think both tracks are Great. Keep up th. Good work Trivium see you in October in Orlando
Damn this song grew on me. Didn't like it at first. Now I'm hooked!

Same, I’m in love with this song. I’m actually more of a rap/trap listener. 😝

Hooked on this song and the other 10 on it. Been a trivium fan since ember to inferno and this album is my favorite
I,m Portuguese and you are my favourite band. I love this album ( the sin and the sentence)
