I think Redondo and Mira Costa are in the same league. I don't know if any league or conference has ever sent two teams to the state meet and both finish within the top five. That's impressive.
San Clemente and Dana Hills were in the same league last year and they were California's two NXN bids. Trabuco Hills was also in their league but in the lower of the two sub leagues an they took third at D1 state. Beckman is also in that league now and they took 6th that year and first this year
The false start was a significant pert of the story here. If Jack Paradise had finished within 26 seconds of Jacob Brown (they were 3 seconds apart at Southern Section), Great Oak would have been the winner. @hdRunners, it should have been shown.
Just so things are clear: Tomorrow when you watch NXN you are going to see a whole bunch of weird names for teams wearing Nike provided uniforms instead of school names and uniforms. That is because NFHS won't sanction the event and won't allow them to use their school names or uniforms. They all had to form artificial club names to evade NFHS regulations (or schools and athletes will be disqualified from competing). NFHS are the same organization that would not let anybody but themselves show this full race. Pay them $12 to see it on NFHS Network. They are the NCAA for High School Sports. It is their territory They built a wall and they won't let anybody else into their territory.
