Graham Blanks is a monster, now with 2 NCAA XC titles and the second sub-13 5k in NCAA history, not to mention world championship qualifying time in December. And he’s only just getting started.
blanks is feeling himself now, you could tell from the way he immediately upped the pace after the pacer stepped off and by him hyping the crowd even though he didn't get the record, wasn't mad about the guy not moving for him, just straight business
Given the noise level in the arena, I´m not sure the two blockers even realized Blanks was coming up to lap them. The overtake cost maybe 3 yards or around half a second.
This maybe mean but that one guy that did not even move (at least that one guy was in lane two which worked against Blanks this time) should be banned from running here.
@@solochristo65 Not their problem that someone is fast. They're running their own race as well and it's going to cost them time if they move out of the way for people. Would it have been nice? Yes, definitely. Do they have any obligation to move for him? Not at all. Banning people for not slowing themselves down to help faster runners would be wild.
More than simply winning, when you get the crowd behind you, I think it's extra special. Plus he ran in front of "home town" fans (Harvard community), and he had the benefit of a very fast track.
wow I didn't think anyone collegiate would get close to Nico Young's time anytime soon! As a Californian I'm happy Nico Young's record wasn't broken but gotta give credit where it's due
@squirrels24seven I like watching races of people not getting lapped. I also like watching records, which are much tougher to break if you have to pass lapped runners.
Blanks is gonna have a monster year in 2025 if he stays healthy. Hopefully they won't burn him out with too many indoor races this coming winter. Could easily see him going sub 12:50 for 5k, possibly even sub 12:45.
Great running! When is rest planned in his schedule so that he achieves his best long-term results? We’ve seen a lot of runners have a great season and then no longer perform up to that level because they overextended themselves over too long a period of time of racing and got injured or exhausted. I’ve coached at the pro level with distance runners.
@@robertwolf7653that was very obviously not the NAU runner’s(Drew Bosley’s) fault. He was out in Lane 2 to let Graham through, and the runner who was currently in lane 1 didnt move
I found it funny towards the beginning when the announcer said something like “Graham Blanks wants to show he can run with anyone in the NCAA.” Graham is a global elite runner. He finished ninth in the Olympics 5000 meter race.
I'm going on the record right now....Blanks will be American's GOAT distance runner before its all said and done. Eclipsing Grant Fisher, Galen Rupp, everyone else.
It wasn’t Bosley’s fault. Sure, it was unfortunate that Blanks had to run around him, but he had already moved out into lane two. The Iowa State runner on the other hand should have also moved outside.

It will never cease to amaze me how distance runners refuse to follow the rules for race starts - you have to be motionless, you can’t be stepping on the line, and if you start in the outer stagger, you can’t be stepping into lane 3. 🤦♂️ Edit: I guess Malleck was pacing… still… gotta keep it legal. (In some ways it’s *worse* if the pacer is the one committing the lane violation, because then the whole field is benefitting from an infraction.)

Hardworking, crowd-backed and driven is what comes to mind when Graham delivers on the track. Such an incredible run and event.
Great commentators for Flo Track and there is really something magic about that BU track

Actually on an Indoor Track, its very true. Every indoor track is banked differently.
Gotta love it!
Here we go!😮 This meet never fails to deliver!❤
Exceptional role model. Academic and athletic prowess and an awesome personality to boot! Great human.🤗
12:34 lapping an olympian is nasty work
he specializes in steeple so not really

The field is appropriately sized. All of these guys are all Americans and on their best day wouldn’t have been lapped.
Impressive after winning the NCAA XC not too long ago. Interesting geometry of this track with its 18.5 degree banked corners.
What a beast!
Phenominal, its like he was sprinting...for 3 miles!
The goats on the middle left at 3:32
Blanks always looks rhythmic and comfortable.
#15 from Iowa State didn’t get the lane 2 memo

Injury or injuries are claims made only when these so-called yt hope need to boost again, most of the injuries are fake.
fire on the track

my guess is now that he has the world standard, he will rest for about a week before entering another training block
Wow!
What was his last mile?
4:05 for the final 1600, probably a high 4:06 for the last full mile. Insane
@ dude I was looking for those two answers specifically so thank you!!!
The Best Blanks. Fantastik Run...
He just won XC Nats, why is he dropping a sub 13 two weeks later? On the indoor track?!
When I ran indoors, or outdoors, it was a given to move "track" and get out of the way. What knuckleheads not to move right, Their coach is to blame.
If the pacer stepped off sooner and the Iowa State guy got into lane 2, Graham might've had the record.
murphy is the only good runner i've seen with my form lmao
bro had the record if the other runners moved out of the way
One was NAU -- protecting Nico's record??
Idk I think it’s a dumb rule in college, everyone should have to go through it if you lap someone that’s how it is in highschool.
