Right behind you. I still listen - everyday! Thank you for the beautiful sounds that saved me as a child. It was a welcome respite from a crazy home life.
My mom took me to a Lisa Lisa Concert at The Ventura County Fairgrounds in the late 80's!!I was like 9 years old.Im 43 now and still bump her jams.🎶🎵🎶🎵
Lisa Lisa is a living legend. I bought her records and stuck her poster on my wall. Yeah, Ms. Velez had an entire wall all to herself. Thank you for all your hard work through the years. And, yes, she is Hip Hop! Lisa Lisa had the streets of Philly on lock in the 80s! Much love to you, Mike Hughes, and Spanador!
Lisa Lisa played here in San Antonio back in the 90's n I asked the drummer for the drum sticks n she sign them I took picture with her I will cherish the memory forever.Love Her !!!
She is still so beautiful. I love her! Whenever I would listen to her songs, I would want to be just like her in those moments. Glad to see her still busy ❤❤
I love this woman, her talent, her personality, her carisma, humbleness, and incredible beauty!!! I was drooling for her then and I'm drooling for her now!!! I'm just crazy about her!!!
I absolutely Love this woman... her sings are the soundtrack to my teenage years and I loved every minute of it... growing up in the 80's was soooo much fun, wouldn't trade my memories and music for anything... I Love you Lisa!!!
I love Lisa Lisa!!! I saw her in concert in Houston when she first came out... my friends saw me there and said ,”Gigi we knew you’d be here! “Yes baby front row! “ Lisa if you see this... You made my youth years so happy with your music!💕You’re a beautiful woman 💕
When I was a teenager I had a crush on this woman, I remember thinking to myself she was beautiful but I wonder what she was like as a person. After watching this interview I think she is more beautiful now than ever before. Shes just wickedly awesome. :)
Lisa Lisa was a soul, hip hop, an R&B artist at first. They played her music on those stations and platforms. Her 2nd album went pop, but was still on those platforms and MTV, etc.. freestyle was still on the come up.
I love Lisa Lisa! A legend for real who had great success & whose voice was all over airwaves on No. 1 R&B AND pop hits! She was 1 of the 1st Latinas to have major pop hits. Connie Francis was huge in the early 1960s, & Irene Cara was in the early ’80s. It’s also worth noting that Linda Ronstadt, a mega-selling artist in the ’70s, is part Mexican. After Cara’s career peaked early due to record co. drama, Lisa Lisa ushered in a new wave of popular Latina singers that would soon include Gloria Estefan (who, to be fair, had been active with the Miami Sound Machine for years before they hit it big) & artists from the freestyle dance music scene such as Expose’s frequent lead singer Jeanette Jurado, Brenda K. Starr, the Cover Girls, Sweet Sensation, Sa-Fire & others.
Hell yeah! Great Interview! When she spoke about the artist that she would love to work with... Yes, this legend has soul! I grew up listening to her music!
She absolutely contributed to the 80s/90s in a major way but she is not Hip Hop or R&B.Our culture is a birthright.Lisa was simply a B-girl singer who made urban dance records🤷🏿♀️❤️
Meet them when they're young and fine, treat them as Queens,do right by them ,marry them and see them age like the sweetest wine.......And Still Fine!!
First of all thank you Lisa Lisa for all the beautiful memories and you do have a beautiful smile I'm 51 years old and I never had a beautiful smile in my life since I was in junior high and I just wish I could have a beautiful smile like yours I'm so embarrassed to try to smile I got all my teeth and everything else LOL but one day I just wish somebody can help me out because I wasted my three kids and I can't never have a beautiful smile like that but anyway this is a beautiful interview so y'all take care
I had big crush on her i was 8 back then she sooo beautiful i still love her and song till this day 2019 i will like to interview her in Chicago lisa lisa 80 forever!!!
Amazing she stayed down to earth . Great personality & seemed genuine during this interview. Definitely wl see her perform if she comes to the PNW. P.s. Great interview sir. 👍💯
I'm Irma, she is beautiful and great singer!! I like her music .I grew up with the best 80s music.. I play it everyday again and again.. God bless you to her..😁
Glad to see they're both doing well. I grew up on Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam's music & Bobby Simmons since I began listening to Stetsasonic. I remember watching Flava Videos after school back in the day. I was big fan of their's.
Yea. But the base of it is R&B. U could say that about alot of acts from 80s. Cameo for example. Those groups didnt stick to one sound. They experimented and combined genre's. That wat makes the music of that era so amazing and timeless.
I only thought that some of her music was freestyle. It is the same with Debbie Deb, whom Lisa Lisa said brought freestyle to the mainstream with the songs "When I Hear Music" and "Look Out Weekend".
I would’ve definitely wifed Lisa exactly for her,her music spoke to me as it still does today..I love Latina women, her swag then is still trending rite now.
She's still so cute
Yes indeedy
@@jomarz1828 I agree
I am still rocking to "Let The Beat Hit Em" today at 50 years old. I was a teenager in the 80's when that song came out.
Wasn’t the song out the year I was born (1991)?
Right behind you. I still listen - everyday! Thank you for the beautiful sounds that saved me as a child. It was a welcome respite from a crazy home life.
Mannnnnnnnnnnn that song is still so riding rn and I'm only 33. That live performance was so smack.
