I still love "I Wonder if I Take you Home". It's one of my favorite songs from the 80's. 😊
Classic!
Yes. I wonder if I take you home. First grown woman song I loved.
As a 12 year old in 1985, I wonder if I take you home video, use to arouse me. Lisa had on that shirt with her tata's jumping around, good God!!!!

The only difference between her and J Lo is that Lisa Lisa has actual talent and could actually sing.

Also she isn’t desperate like JLO.
@@TheCheekymonkey212 Exactly J-ho tries to hard to showcase talent she doesn't have unlike Lisa she can actually sing, it just flows out of her

Lisa Lisa & The Cult & Full Force were unstoppable force in the music industry
💯💯
Thanks! That’s some good stuff and they made some great music
thanks for watching!
O yeah!!!
Keeping it real, I was in the music industry back then...and Lisa Lisa's look and style opened the door wide for Paula Abdul and Pebbles. PROMISE! AND the snippet about "Head to Toe" sounding like a Supreme song....E'rrrrbody was saying that.
Wow!
I can see her style influencing Paula Abdul. But Pebbles?
@@vanityposh6348 The Full Force production team behind her was parallel to that of LA and Face with Pebbles.
i never heard any latin beats in they music, as usual they influences was blk american music like r&b, rap & funk , im still shook that most NY actors & rappers have caribean backgrounds 😂
Defintely true! @@thegrandcanyonisegypt2489
Shameful, Lisa is so UNDERRATED ❤⏰🧠
Definitely agree 💯
According to who
Lisa Lisa is the truth!!! Omg I was too young to realize how fine she was
Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam made my teenage years awesome. I still jam to their music. They have opened a lot of doors
Yes they definitely did💯
I wasn't a teenager yet but they are definitely on the soundtrack to my life
I remember seeing them open up for New Edition. I was in awe. She was/is absolutely gorgeous.
"Wonder if I take you home" is still my favorite.
That jam BUMPS no matter when and where it's played!
That Summer You couldn't go anywhere without hearing that Song
I love her music growing up in the 80s and 90s.
Yes she had it on lock in the 80s and 90s 🙌🏾
Saw an interview where she said she had cancer back then and traveled with a special treatment bag but never told anyone. Glad that she was ok and still performs today.
And don’t forget their music was played in PR 🇵🇷 too , whoever had a boombox walking down the street had it cranked up ⬆️
💯💯🙌🏾
❤❤❤😂
I danced to all their songs when I was growing up. At the clubs. All my albums were taken but still have the long version LP of Lisa Lisa and the cult jam, " I wonder if I take you home. "
Oh wow!
I saw them a long time ago on the same bill as Expose'. The audience couldn't stay out of our seats, we were all dancing all the time. Good times!
Those were the days🙌🏾💯🙏🏽

All Cried Out is one of my most favorite songs of all time! Ever since it came out! Im 53 now and still love it!
Im a 80s baby and we just had the best music back then
💯💯
Actually the 70's had the best music
80’s baby I agree. I’m going to break it down
60’s was the change music, my parents music like with Supremes, Aretha Franklin and James Brown. Rock and Roll with the Beatles, Who, and Rolling Stones.
The 70’s was the love songs music all those songs we heard in Guardians of the Galaxy lol
80’s was the dance music, and the club music. And the second British Invasion like Culture Club or Beatsie Boys.
The 90’s was the combo of both Love, Dance and Club music from Michael Jackson to Luther and Kid N Play. Don’t forget Sade!!
2000 hmm real verdict is still out 😂
Peace ☮️
@@tantig5923 you said it perfectly
We definitely had the best music! Gen X
Lisa Lisa is still a stunning and strong woman ❤❤

Happy ending for Lisa 🎉. We love you Lisa keep looking ahead 👏
People forget, that besides the great Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam another great Latin star existed in 1986, & that was Sa-Fire. Her album was a great Freestyle one, & she had a really distinctive voice. Thanks for putting this together.
Thank you for watching have a great night 🙌🏾🙏🏽
I loveeeed Sa-Fire. She did have a distinctive voice.
Let the beat hit them. Still my favourite. Always Sounds like new and amazing.

Lisa lisa cult jam, we're so beautiful. Always loved them.
Gloria Estefan came to the music scene before Lisa. Lisa and the Cult Jam came out a couple of years later.
No sir just did a little check conga dropped in 85 , take you home dropped in 84. Although. Miami sound machine had been around as a band.
@@ramsey4630 LOL! I was ALIVE IN 1984. Sit down.
@@rrubio6660 so was i.
@@rrubio6660 A contralto, Estefan started[5] her career as lead singer of Miami Latin Boys, which was later renamed Miami Sound Machine. She and Miami Sound Machine earned worldwide success with their 1985 single "Conga", which became Estefan's signature song and led to Miami Sound Machine winning the 15th annual Tokyo Music Festival's grand prix in 1986. In 1988, she and Miami Sound Machine achieved their first number-one hit with "Anything for You".
@@rrubio6660 I Wonder If I Take You Home" is a song recorded by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam with Full Force in 1984. Record Producer Kenny Beck discovered the song in a "discard bin" at Personal Records[where?] while looking for songs to include on his debut album with the label. He was so impressed that he created a compilation break-dancing album, CBS/SuzyQ, just to include the song. He released the album in Europe on CBS Records, and it immediately gained popularity as a dance hit with club DJs there. Soon American DJs began playing the song in the United States on Columbia Records. After the song received heavy play from these DJs, "I Wonder If I Take You Home" reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart for one week in June 1985.[

I bought this album, I lived in Vancouver, BC Canada. Loved it. It was the jam..
All Cried Out was 🔥🔥🔥 back in the day.
Glad that Lisa is healthy and has a family.

Great video, but u can't NEVER put JLO IN THE SAME MUSIC CAREER, WITH THOSE 3 TALENTED LADIES
Yes very true but jlo is puerto rican 😂😂😂 i guess
From the prospective of a young music fan who had the ✨Great!✨ experience of the 80’s, it looked like Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam and the group Full Force was one big happy family of extremely talented people. Their work looked and sounded like… the “Future” at its best.

First, so happy she beat her cancer 🥰🙏🌈, second, from madonna to something called taylor swift, none could touch Lisa Lisa and her recording, she might have done just a few album's, but man were they memorable, many blessings 🙏🥰🌈
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Sorry...but to say that is not realistic...stop it
Thank God Lisa is okay 🙏
Taylor swift not Madonna!
I saw them in Kansas City in 86. And I can testify to what the video is saying about when they toured. I was with 2 women who had hooked with 2 band members (not Cult jam) so we went back to their hotel room to chill with the band. Never saw Lisa, Mike or Alex but I asked the bass player if he could get their autograph on a hotel stationary. The bass player was only 19. So these guys in the band were young. They could go out but Lisa, Mike and Alex were on lockdown.
Good stuff & Thanks for watching 💯
“Someone to love me for me”, has always been one of my favorites by them.
Lisa actually had talent
Facts 💯
4:00 this is the most 1980s look I've ever seen. That outfit is everything. When I was a little girl back then, I'd watch music videos and draw outfits like that with colored pencils. This stuff makes me so nostalgic 😊

Too much Full Force. That first single was Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam with Full Force featuring Paul Anthony and Bowlegged Lou. TOO MUCH
I remember hearing Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam’s first song I Wonder If I Take You Home on Elliot Place in the Mount Eden section of the Bronx in the spring of 1985 when I was four years old 😊. They are indeed Latin Freestyle’s first supergroup!!!
what a shame for a record company to come in and break up such a talented group. it sounds like this group got "Jerry Heller(ed)" like NWA did.

I'm 57, grew up in queens, left NYC 30+ YEARS AGO and LL is a staple in my playlist. ❤❤❤. That being said i was always confused about Full Force and why they were there just likd that.
Full Force went back to high school after everything died down and then started bullying Kid from Kid 'n Play during a bunch of house parties.
😂
😂
My parents had me in their late teens, early 20s in 1982. They took me to Great America to see Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam when I was5 years old. It was so cool being up close to the stage, singing away to all their songs. Very cool memory I have 🤩
I absolutely loved Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam!!🎉 I forgot that she played Taina's mom, I loved that show, too
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Thank you! Thank you for emphasizing Progressive Funk as Latin Freestyle.
However, the beat makers/ producers were Full Force. I'm not sure if they were inspired by Chris Barbosa's High NRG/ progressive style of composing- but it is Freestyle!
I hate to break it to the Cult Jam and Full Force dudes, but fans didn't care to see them. Lisa was a busty, super-hot n' spicy Latina with a beautiful singing voice. She is the sole reason the band became successful. Sex appeal sells records faster than anything else I can think of and believe me Lisa had plenty of it. The dudes in the band should have just accepted the fact she was the front runner. They should have been happy with their place in the band and let Lisa continue to be the cash cow for all of them. I get it, we all want to be the star/leader of the band. The truth is not everyone is cut out to be.
And then when Lisa broke out on her own, what happened? Also, that sound was on its way out the door in the late 80s.
never was a fan of Lisa Lisa and cult Jam The only song that I like that they put out was "can I take you home" ( That was a jam ) beyond that, most of the music that they put out was garbage!.... Until this documentary I had no idea that "Let the beat hit'em " was a Lisa, Lisa feature (I really like that song) The reason why that song was so groovy is because it was a C & C music factory production.
Lisa, Lisa could've been a much bigger Star had she kept the momentum going with good music, (like C & C's compositions) backing her vocals. ...neither the cult Jam musicians, (nor the force MDs production team) never really produced good music for her.
Happy Birthday Lisa Lisa!
🎊🎉🎂

You can see how Paula Abdul LOOKS like Lisa Lisa.
Paula doesn’t want to admit it but her daddy probably was born in Brazil or South America, which is a Hispanic or Latin country.

Great video, ❤ HER!!! but if you meant before Gloria, Selena & Lopez (who only got famous because of Selena’s death) as if she was the first Hispanic/latina to have fame/success in music “in mainstream America” please know as far as females, Vikki Carr and Linda Ronstadt before her were before them all
Yeah, I totally agree with you on that 💯 Thanks for watching!
She didn't have mainstream success, but Latina beauty Angela Bofill made some very good R&B albums.
@@RStevenPage yes….late 70s and 80s I remember her…idk how old you are but if you know the then Wildly popular Lawrence Welk show , Anacani was another who didn’t have mainstream success but got famous singing on that show…..it was very hard for both Hispanic/latina men/women back then…..I cringe when I hear modern huge famous “singers” now who are imo nothing compared to many of yesteryears who never were given a chance ..have a blessed Sunday !

This is music I can’t even understand the music now a days
I think the fact that Freestyle music was disappearing at that time didn't help either
Lisa Lisa used to be on the radio and she ruled the airwaves, until the early 1990s. Around 1990 , everyone was talking about this new female singer with an amazing voice. Mariah Carey took over the reins of popular music and has been on the record charts since the 1990s. I didn't know Lisa Lisa had cancer, and I'm glad she went into remission. I would love to see these two talented ladies perform in concert together. They have talent and both can sing without autotune. We love you Lisa Lisa, and I love you from head to toe and I wonder if I can take you home. I'm lost in emotion and all cried out over you.
