    I believe the Mackie SRMs are the best speakers they ever made, Ive heard nothing but praise for them over the years. Great video.

      They really do have a reputation for serving DJ very well over the years.

    Great review bud, getting two of these from a friend at a killer price, so your input has assisted my decision. Truly appreciated.

    I left Mackie alone years ago for QSC. To be fair thought the Macie SRM 450 served me well.

    • @DJHuckmonkey
      @DJHuckmonkey  3 года назад +1

      Makes sense. QSC is definitely better quality. Mackie these days is more of a beginner/budget solution. They will be among the first things I upgrade, along with lighting. I imagine I'll likely go with EV though just because my subs are already EV.

      @@DJHuckmonkey yeah buddy I fully agree with you. Personally I love Yamaha speakers but expensive but you get 7 yr warranty. Living in hot humid Florida. Powered speakers are very risky. Thanks for your support. Stay safe God bless 🙏!

    Hey bro, this has been extremely helpful man. I got a 15" Behringer Sub that I want to use for 2 of these bad boys. The sub is crazy heavy so I was looking for a lighter size like these. I normally do wedding venues between 150 to 300 people and the subs have been more than sufficient. As I'm typing this, you're literally saying to have the 12s and have the subs do the work. Thanks and subscribed!

    Greetings friend, I have a pair of these that I bought originally as monitors but I use them for smaller events like you said, house parties. I have expensive speakers, EV, JBL and Cerwin-Vega but the main reason I keep my Mackie Thumps 12A is weight, they are the lighter of all the speakers I own. I pair them with my EV Subs when I need the extra bass.

    Do they have a ground button to extract an buzz noise. Very good review. 👍! Thank you.

    • @DJHuckmonkey
      @DJHuckmonkey  2 года назад +1

      No ground button, or screw if that's what you mean. You shouldn't get too much buzz though, as long as everything else is set up proplerly, and as long as there's no buzz coming from your power supply. If that's the problem, you can use a power conditioner to help clean that up.
      Hope that helps!

      @@DJHuckmonkey hey thank you brother. Appreciate it your reply. Yes you are correct. It's my old school mixer. RCA outs to speakers are making buzz feedback. Thanks God I have the old Altos with ground button. I love to buy these LD systems speakers. But they don't have a feedback destroyer. They sound pretty darn good. Guess I have to change my favorite mixer. 😆! Great video bro👍 keep them coming. Take care brother. 👍

    These aren't BT are they? Just ordered a pair with Yamaha mixer..guess ill have to cancel the order

    • @DJHuckmonkey
      @DJHuckmonkey  3 года назад +1

      No, these ones are not bluetooth. If you want bluetooth, Mackie thump 12bst, or 15bst have it, but at a higher cost. Although I'm not sure if it allows you to play music over bluetooth or simply adjust levels and EQ.

      @@DJHuckmonkey Yea I was about to ask what do you guys recommend if I decide to keep the setup, it comes with a Yamaha mixer, what Bluetooth device would you guys recommend in order to use them through Bluetooth.

      You could go with something like this one: Bluetooth Audio Adapter amzn.to/3qlxjhZ @ $33.95 CA and hook it up to the speakers using the mixer.
      If you want something a little higher quality with low latency you could go with this one: ZIOCOM Bluetooth Transmitter Receiver- amzn.to/3aZHsdK @ $89.99 CA with some good reviews
      And there's this one priced in between the other two: TaoTronics Bluetooth 5.0 Transmitter Receiver- amzn.to/2NoY9ag @ $54.99, It also has some good reviews.
      Note: The above links are Amazon Associate links. If you use the link, I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps support the channel so I can continue to provide great content. Thank you for your support!

    Hey man, at lower volumes does the DSP setting help with muddness? I am a pair (probably 15") for a 3 piece band but want nice clear vocals. .. I was thinking about these ones or Cerwin Vega CVE's..
    cheers

    • @DJHuckmonkey
      @DJHuckmonkey  3 года назад

      I think the best bet for cleaning them up a bit would be to EQ them with an external mixer. I haven't tried Vegas myself.
      Hopefully that helps.

      @@DJHuckmonkey Thanks man, much appreciated. I have a behringer XR18 for mixing with and I bought a pair of Headrush 12" cabs but they sound terrible, really muddy for foh. Silly me thought theyd work good because I bought the Headrush board as well, the board sounds good thru them but when setup as foh and using the XR18, its a big nah as the vocals just sound so muddy. ... Would you know if the JBL EON612 12" would sound better than the Thump for clarity for vocals etc?

    • @DJHuckmonkey
      @DJHuckmonkey  3 года назад

      I don't own the 612's myself, but I do have an eon one compact. JBL is definitly known for their sound quality, and from what I understand, the 612's sound great and should have good clarity, but lack a little on the low end. The JBLs do also have a pretty good EQ in the mobile app as well.
      Definitly I'd say go with the JBLs over the Mackies for sound quality. But just be aware they will lack a bit in bass vs the Mackies. I'll post a link here for a pretty good review on the JBLs. He does a tare down and sound test, and is pretty knowledgeable.
