WHY AM I DONG IT THIS WAY?
A lot of channels do Patreon or RUclips Memberships at a cost to the viewer which puts a lot of content behind a paywall, meaning it is pay to view, and a large amount of the subscriber base miss out on a lot of content, or the quality of the content available to non members reduces. I don’t like this approach.
My way - EVERY one will get to see ALL content. If you aren’t in a position to donate - you still get to see ALL content and your current experience of the channel will NOT change at all. If you do want to support the channel then you get to decide how I prioritise the videos.

Diana is a Polyphonic Dramatic Contralto, her natural low register is filled with overtones creating the polyphonic effect (what people describe as two notes at the same time).
Her voice is unique on this world and no one else can do what she does, this videos does not even show her full capabilities she can go both lower and higher, her overtones are crazy and she can manipulate them to an unearthly degree.
People are calling her the queen of goosebumps , there is just no performance of hers that does not evoke that feeling.
You should just listen to more from her, she is surely the most powerful and greatest female voice right now and she is so young, 18 years old on the video you watched and she just turned 21 now.
I suggest listening to her STUNNING cover of Chris Isaak's "Wicked game" next, you will get more of what you felt here and she was just 15 years old then.

RUclipsr/ opera singer/ music producer Peter Barber reacted to this song and he doesn’t think Diana is a dramatic contralto, he says the term dramatic is primarily used for opera singers, he did say Diana is definitely a contralto but not a dramatic contralto.

As a therapist I think you would be interested in hearing Tianas life story. Diana was born to an abusive alcoholic mother who beat her call Mandy collected her and even tried to drown her. At the age of three Diana was discarded by her mother on the street in the winter with a broken collarbone. Diana was turned over to an orphanage. Any thoughts therapist there took interest in Diana and ask her mother to adopt her which she did. At the age of five Diana was still so traumatized that she had trouble speaking so it was suggested that she be given voice lessons to help her learn to speak and it did work but I also discovered that she had an incredible voice and the rest is history in the making. Really enjoyed your analysis look forward to you reacting to Diana in the future

Listen to everything and you will be shocked and fascinated. She's not exactly a singer - she's a mythical Siren and you can hear it. Welcome to the wonderful world of the "Queen of Goosebumps" - Diana Ankudinova. Every song she performs becomes the pinnacle of art. Diana has a unique voice - a dramatic contralto with very rare overtones and polyphony, inimitable timbre, amazing stage presence! Diana is 21 years old (in this video she is 18 years old), she lives in Moscow, Russia, and studies at Gitis - the Institute of Theatrical Art. She started singing at the age of 5 and has won more than 50 vocal competitions, including international ones. She sings in any musical genre and performed songs in her native language - Russian, as well as in English, French, Spanish, Arabic, German, and Ukrainian. It is truly a very rare and unsurpassed talent that manifests itself once in several generations.

This really is her voice. She has also had good vocal coaching as well. She has sung since 5 to learn how to talk, then from about 10 performing, and even then you could hear the beginning Contralto of her voice. This girl could not talk when 4 due to a lot of trauma, and much abuse. She was then adopted, and her current mom loves her very much, and her family is with her always. You should hear her sing on stage doing DUNE cover with full orchestra. She uses her whole body to sing, just as Celine Dion does. The staring judge is an Opera singer, famous in Russia, and noted the quality of her voice! She has about a 4-octive range now. Enjoy!! Yes, a true epic talent! Her passion for music is wonderful, and she just graduated at 21 with a degree in Music from the University. I was so happy to find such a talent, and she is a funny, graceful, kind, and very hard-working young woman. I hope she will be safe and happy in years to come doing the music she loves. Enjoy!

Stuart, the type of singing Diana is doing is called ‘Overtone Singing’ which can be done as chanting as well, also known as ‘harmonic Singing’, ‘polyphonic overtone singing’, or ‘diphonic singing’. It is a classical and opera singers set of singing techniques in which the vocalist manipulates the resonances of the vocal tract to arouse the perception of additional separate notes beyond the fundamental frequency that is being produced. Overtone singing shouldn’t be confused with throat singing, which uses a different technique. It isn’t difficult once the voice is trained. Where Diana’s voice is exceptionally good is in the fact she has a very broad range, from very deep bass to soprano.

One of my favorites by her is from the "Show Mask Go On" entitled "Oh, It's Not Yet Evening" ruclips.net/video/cfTiQkJrLi0/видео.html. It's an over 300 year old folk song about a Cossack warrior who dreams of his death in an imminent battle. On Diana's face you see sadness, anxiety and pain of the soul of the Cossack warrior. One would swear she borrowed that soul to perform the song.
I'm not sure how many people appreciate the emotional gasps she produces here that absolutely melt me.

But if you listening well, you can hear the 2 notes, when she sings the "But I cant help falling in love with you" at the first time. Just before Julia Parsuta turn her head. You can hear her low and high nore in the same time, just concentrate! The second time, she have a softer, high backing track.

    Greetings.
Diana Ankudinova is "polyphonic" which means she's able to sing normally, and she can sing with what's called an "overtone".
The background notes you hear are the overtones as they are lower in sound but she can bring the volume of both to an equal level.
After they show the blonde lady, you can hear Diana sing with an overtone but then she brings the microphone closer to her mouth to intensify the higher overtone.
For a cool reaction, watch her cover of "California Dreamin'" in the Russian The Masked Singer.
Please choose the video of her singing without the mask as that puts things in perspective when it comes to her polyphonic singing.
She sings almost the entire song like that and it's awesome!!
    She's is absolutely amazing AND.....

Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in eight billion. Having watched well over 100 initial reactions to her, only one did NOT say she was "unique".

The first necessity is to enjoy what Diana Ankudinova does. Then sure, if you've got the skills and the background, analyse how she does it .
BTW, if you knew something of Diana's biography (there is a wiki) you might well have had something "mental healthy" to say.
If you want to see more of Diana's work then see 'Rechenka', sung as a 14 year old on the show 'You Are Super' or alternatively, her latest song 'A Quiet Outpost' put up on her 'Diana Ankudinova Life' yt channel some 10 hours ago.

I think the most heart wrenching part of her story is that I read her performances are driven to be perfect out of fear of being “sent back”. A psychologist could write a book about that. She seems to be on much social media and now appears to be a normal happy girl. With extraordinary talent.

So much to discover. I suspect that her childhood collarbone/neck injury remodeling affected growth and development in her larynx, a typical tissue response to contusions. This created the space/shape for her very unique polyphonic capacities.

The "higher part" you refer to is the overtones others (like Kwstas Vagias) reference. The lower tones you hear are simply the background music. Her voice is so dominant as a dramatic contralto that often the instrumental backing sounds like words being formed. Leonard Bernstein was well known for making his lower clef/lower case strings talk to us. Thanks for a fine reaction. 👍

Diana is firmly in the top ranks of the world's vocal arts ..... with her style. And I would call it "Harpoon Ankudinova"... With this "harpoon" Diana impresses almost everyone from the first seconds ... and attracts the listener, up to the last second of the performance ... And the spectator has only to "helplessly" allow her to pull herself out of the zone of the already familiar world vocal - into the zone of her element ... into the zone of Diana's musical tornado ...! And this "harpoon" is able to carry not only a man, but also a whale into Diana's element ...!!

In this performance there are backing tracks, voice processing etc. but these are standard in nearly all TV music shows nowadays (unfortunately imho), even in the Voice shows around the world. But, what those shows don't have is: Diana Ankudinova. Her timbre, tone quality is so unique and rich and powerful, there is no match to her in this area.

Angelina Jordan, 18, is simply phenomenal. With over 200 covers and a growing discography of her own originals she's here to stay.
She graduated high school and entered her professional career at the age of 17. Republic Records/Universal signed her at the age of 14, following her arrangement of BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY on AGT. Queen gave her the rights to her arrangement of their song after hearing it.
Here's where Angelina ended up winning Season 14 of NGT....
    🎉🎉🎉 NORWAY'S GOT TALENT
I've attached the link to the audition she made on Norway's Got Talent at the age of 7. Self-taught and learning from the jazz masters, little barefooted Angelina sings a Billie Holiday cover of "Gloomy Sunday." This video includes pre and post-content, all with English subtitles. Of the 4 performances on Norway's Got Talent, I've only found this audition video and her final winning performance of "Summertime" with English subtitles. Here are the 4 performances for your viewing pleasure. If you react to these, please include the pre and post content through the judge's comments.
NGT 1 - GLOOMY SUNDAY - Billie Holiday (spotlights Angelina, her audition, with English subtitles)

NGT 3 - BANG, BANG - Nancy Sinatra

NGT 4 - SUMMERTIME, Ella Fitzgerald/Louis Armstrong (spotlights Angelina, final performance, judges, announcing NGT winner, all with English CC)

We all have several harmonics in our voice. Frequency analysis shows that Diana's peculiarity is that the amplitude of several additional harmonics above and below the fundamental tone is almost as high as that of the sound at the basic frequency.

  • @amnesite3573
    @amnesite3573 День назад +1

I love how she can easily slip in and out of the subharmonic-type pitches. It will sound like she's singing low notes, but they're actually high notes with low tones. The closest I've heard to this elsewhere is with beatboxing, but nowhere near this high up in range.

    Her earlier music;
    1. Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien about 12 years old ruclips.net/video/zSE_HsLqntU/видео.html
    2. Wicked Game 15 YO ruclips.net/video/7jv-DQnf2UY/видео.html
    3. Human 15 YO ruclips.net/video/kt78je5hD0k/видео.html
    4. Rechenka 14 YO ruclips.net/video/fEcvVINA304/видео.html
About the song "Rechenka": This is an old ritual song about an orphan bride. The girl has no parents. The river was considered the boundary between the world of the living and the dead. She goes to the river and asks for the blessing of marriage. She says that there are many people at home, but there is no father and mother. You hear Diana singing in a whisper. These are the words of the deceased mother of the bride. Then the girl is crying. In Russia, at weddings they sang sad songs to scare away evil and the marriage of a young couple was to be happy. Such songs were called “weeping.” The figures behind Diana are spirits of water and forest.
    5. Derniere Danse 14 YO ruclips.net/video/kjMh5suWSdU/видео.html (BEST VERSION)
    6. Can't Help Falling In Love 19 YO ruclips.net/video/M-znD6QKbrg/видео.html
    7. Blizzard (Snowstorm) 15 YO ruclips.net/video/1_4lFqKM3GA/видео.html
    8. Tomorrow Is a Lie 14YO ruclips.net/video/U92A8H2rK2I/видео.html
    9. Fastidious Horses 17YO ruclips.net/video/-viKcVvTSEc/видео.html
One video of Diana's, in my sight, is a total masterpiece the like of which I don't remember ever seeing before in my long life. It's a must see for anyone that loves singing with unending emotion. The background of the song is essential to know. The title of the song is "Ornery (or "Fastidious" or "Finicky") Horses". The song has nothing to do with horses in reality - the horses are being used as a metaphor for life. The author of song is begging the horses to slow down (he is aware he is approaching death), but, at the same time he is whipping them along (his chaotic lifestyle) - he knows that his lifestyle is taking him to an early death, however, he is unable to change it.....the composer of the song, Vladimir Vysotsky, was a singer-songwriter, poet, and actor as well as an alcoholic & drug addict and died in 1980 at the age of 42. ruclips.net/video/lu8iW9BcWmY/видео.html . Subtitles are a must for Diana's words before and after the song.
    10. Maybe I, Maybe You 17YO ruclips.net/video/Xeq3t4WQbO4/видео.html

The polyphonic notes happen alone when she sings low mostly. Poli comes from many, sometimes you will hear more than one voice, not backing track. The backing track is the "aaaaah" "aaaaaah" in the background.

Nonetheless, Diana has capabilities far beyond any other singer I've ever heard in my 63 years. Listen to more videos with her singing, and I'm sure you'll be amazed by each single one of them. There are various styles of "overtone singing" in which you generate an overtone-rich sound and then use their mouths and throats as high-Q filters to emphasize different harmonics. If you listen to Mongolian or Tuvan throat singing it's very clear, but whatever she's doing is very subtle.

Looking what music evokes different emotions, there’s an artist that has done a whole series of turning major songs (upbeat in a major key) into minor keys and the emotions that it gives now in a minor key transforms the whole meaning of the song! His name is Chase Holfelder. Another person that has done a cover of an upbeat song and made it somber in a minor key is Faouzia she took Eiffel 65’s song Blue and made it fit the lyrics - SO good! Great reaction!!
