When you ignore Bae for Bartók...

  • Bartók wrote one my favorite piece to perform in orchestra history. There are so many cool moments so I had to install the GoPro on the trusty ol' bone during our Yale Philharmonia concert under the baton of Leonard Slatkin. I hope you enjoy the performance and appreciate the commentary I have throughout. Go practice!
    Take a lesson with me: forms.gle/KZWr...
    Brace yourself for a musical mishmash that'll have you in stitches! Our crack team of instrumentalists will be taking the stage with a smorgasbord of instruments, including the violin, tuba, viola, cello, double bass, trombone, trumpet, French horn, clarinet, bassoon, harp, flute, piccolo, English horn, and even the king of low notes, the bass trombone! This concert is guaranteed to have you laughing out loud and tapping your toes as our musicians play a symphony of silliness and bring their A-game to tickle your funny bone

    This was such a cool video, I loved getting to see which parts you find particularly enjoyable and interesting! I play a bunch of instruments but no brass (yet!), so I really like your channel for getting insights into this part of the orchestra.

      I have the opposite problem. Im a bass trombonist primarily. I have a really solid low range fully chromatically down to pedal C but my high range is kinda lacking.

      @@littlewishy6432 I am aware there’s a lot of trombone stuff in the other ones - Shostakovich 5 was the first full symphony I’ve played (done movements of others eg Dvorak 9 finale and Nielsen 1 1st and last) but I played the full symphony on a youth orchestra course a few weeks ago - I want to play the other Shostakovich symphonies too lol - next up for me is Bruckner 7 in October and I’m gonna be on the painful alto trombone part 😅

    • @imparkub
      @imparkub 11 месяцев назад

      maybe you're closing/putting too much pressure on your lips in your high notes so you're blocking your air. You could try reaching the high notes with minimal embouchure movement, only air pressure/cold air. It kinda worked for me
