When you ignore Bae for Bartók...

- Bartók wrote one my favorite piece to perform in orchestra history. There are so many cool moments so I had to install the GoPro on the trusty ol' bone during our Yale Philharmonia concert under the baton of Leonard Slatkin. I hope you enjoy the performance and appreciate the commentary I have throughout. Go practice!

Brace yourself for a musical mishmash that'll have you in stitches! Our crack team of instrumentalists will be taking the stage with a smorgasbord of instruments, including the violin, tuba, viola, cello, double bass, trombone, trumpet, French horn, clarinet, bassoon, harp, flute, piccolo, English horn, and even the king of low notes, the bass trombone! This concert is guaranteed to have you laughing out loud and tapping your toes as our musicians play a symphony of silliness and bring their A-game to tickle your funny bone

This was such a cool video, I loved getting to see which parts you find particularly enjoyable and interesting! I play a bunch of instruments but no brass (yet!), so I really like your channel for getting insights into this part of the orchestra.
Thank you!
I came for the bartók glissando, but I found a masterpiece
I love this style of video!
I loved this vid!! Those were some great spicy glissando's!!!
I relate to wanting my low notes to have more weight.
I have the opposite problem. Im a bass trombonist primarily. I have a really solid low range fully chromatically down to pedal C but my high range is kinda lacking.
I also have the opposite problem. I am a tubist who plays trombone for jazz band, and I find low notes easy to give weight to
I usually never have a problem with getting weight in my sound since I have been taught in the ways that eating equates to a big sound. Garbage plates are the answer
@@jacksonmurphy1324 god i miss dogtown
@@connoringham7250 I would kill for a dogtown plate and a genny right now
These are AWESOME! Would like to see more like them :)
Absolutely! More to come in the future!! Thank you so much!
3:33 press F to pay respects to 1st trumpet
I love actually getting to see you play longer than 5 second meme videos.
5:00 you can thank me for the reaction from the “crowd”
Mute troubles are always interesting, I remember a few weeks ago the trumpets weren't allowed to use Harmon mutes because we kept dropping them lol
I want to play this it sounds like a fun piece😭
Love the sound you guys have! But like you said there were quite a few notes on the sharp side, but I hear this way better when listening than playing so no sweat, keep practising :) and keep up the great vids :) This is definitely something I want to play with my orchestra as well!
wait when do i get to play this omg - and i thought shostakovich 5 was good for trombone...
You should check out some of Shostakovich's other symphonies.
@@littlewishy6432 I am aware there’s a lot of trombone stuff in the other ones - Shostakovich 5 was the first full symphony I’ve played (done movements of others eg Dvorak 9 finale and Nielsen 1 1st and last) but I played the full symphony on a youth orchestra course a few weeks ago - I want to play the other Shostakovich symphonies too lol - next up for me is Bruckner 7 in October and I’m gonna be on the painful alto trombone part 😅
I love this Video
Sharing Your experience on stage With us on Yt is so cool
Please more of this!
At 2:22 we a beautiful sounding cords that I want to know the name of!!!!!
I just love your GoPro videos. I don't even play trombone (I do play trumpet though, though nowhere even remotely near your level), but I *do* adore symphonic music and this is such an interesting and fascinating POV to experience it through!
The bass trombonist did that really cleanly
murph moment!
IS this the concerto for orchestra ??
that was cool! i had to rewatch a few parts they were too epic
Better a tad sharp than flat! Sounded great! The small nuances when in an ensemble make it great, less robotic and more satisfying to the ear. You did great!
better a tad sharp than out of tune, eh?
is there a full version of this?
My bad it’s at 2:21
bet u practice 40 hours a day for this
1:37 to 2:22 was my favorite!
As a 8th grade trombone player those high notes make me suffocate and lower notes are easier but bro sometimes i feel like I am not putting any air 💀😭
maybe you're closing/putting too much pressure on your lips in your high notes so you're blocking your air. You could try reaching the high notes with minimal embouchure movement, only air pressure/cold air. It kinda worked for me
What is the piece name made from Bartok? Love that piece
Concerto for orchestra
Did someone say "sauciest gliss in orchestral brass history"? ruclips.net/video/b_QyNQs6nIo/видео.html
You should make more videos like this
Oh I can definitely relate! Though if I were to mess up, then the rest of the whole orchestra messes up. Anyways, what piece were you playing?
Name of piece of music? Plz :)
Bartók - Concerto for Orchestra
bruckner 7
@@WillSands1701 Hope you're trolling
5:01 this gliss is good but I like the gliss at the end of symphonic dance no.3 better
Every one of your comments...coming in sharp, better low notes....they all apply to bassoon too! I play bassoon, trombone, and tuba, you my friend, are quite perceptive to the minuscule, yet vital, nuances of true orchestral music. Love your stuff, keep making more :)
Another one like me. Low brass and bassoon
playing tromb and bassoon was the worst decision of my life (but also the best)
i cant stop clicking on th=is video and i dont know why its just so silly
2:37 helpful tuba player for the bass trombone gliss ;)
This is so entertaining to watch. Nice playing! bravo
How you holdin da trombone lik that
And peices like these are why I play trombone, its my first solo this year I'm excited to play it.
relatable ( except for the gf part and playing orchestra)
What part are you in this peicd?
What a great style of video, I felt like I never got so close-up and into the head of an orchestra player! Much love!
How do you do lower notes? I have yet to grasp that.
wow this was so interesting to watch, thank you!!
My favorite vid of yours🔥
Please tell me the name of this song.
I like this music very much.
It's so cool!
Its Bela Bartoks concerto for orchestra
Wow
when i grow up i want to play like you.
🤩🤩🤩
Well played
I need more of this 🥺🥺
You're my hero
How did the bass trombone play that gliss? I am no trombone player, but shouldn't that be impossible?
Watch the most recent video on this channel
murph moment
Damn the principal trumpet player didn't full send the part in the 5th movement
u play it better and then upload a video and then you can talk
@WillSands1701 i mean it's really hard. I've fucked it up on enough auditions. And on another listen I think the audio quality is just weird
