I am British born and bred; this is absolutely ridiculous and never thought it would be so difficult to relocate back with my partner of 3 years to the UK.. (Basically 5grand for just the application and nhs - who is gonna use 3k's worth of NHS assistance - for that price il make sure she goes to the doctor every week!!.) Thus, I don't want to pay 2k for a lawyer.. do you want a side job Jason?

Going through the exact same thing trying to bring my French wife to the UK. The equivalent for me to go to France is much less complicated and effectively free. If it wasn't for the fact I'm the main provider and have a home and everything set up would definitely be going to France instead. Why on earth would anyone want to come over here if they have to pay that much to do so, such a broken country.

Also, bear in mind these sneaky people only give you a VISA for up to 2.5 years so that you'd need to spend almost the same amount for another 2.5 years for you or your dependant to meet the minimum amount of years for an ILR.
I personally have dropped plans to apply for a spouse visa for my partner. We've instead decided on leaving this sinking country and move to another country and use that £10k on the move and a house instead.

Hi Very informative video thank you.. A question if you can help please: I have just completed my partners leave to remain visa for the second 2 and half year term. We had confirmation that the visa was granted for my partner and her dependant child. During the application i recall entering the original IHS surcharge reference number from her first 2 and half year visa application when prompted for payment reference thinking this was still valid for this extension. But have just received an emails saying the payment for the new application has not been made. So is this correct that we have to pay the IHS charge for the extension visa? Even though she has been working for 2 years paying taxes (ernie) through wages etc..
Thank you for your response in advance.. Steve

Very helpful video, nicely done, quick question if the UK partner is working in the health sector will the IHS be refunded?

No, the IHS is for the applicant, not the partner. The applicant can be refunded if they eventually work for the NHS.

Hi, I am on 5 year work permit visa in skilled worker category. When I applied for my spouse visa online, they didn't ask to pay for NHS surcharge and gave the NHS reference number. Later she got the visa also. Just want to confirm whether this is ok? Should we have to pay anything now? How can I check with uk vi office?
