My understanding is that the NHS surcharge is for people living in the UK for a short period of time. I have been told that if your spouse intends to live in the UK permenantly, then this surcharge does not need to be paid. Is this correct?
Hi, great video. Just one thing to call out is that the NHS cost you provided is for five years and not for 2 1/2 years. Therefore, it will be a lot cheaper for people that are obtaining a 2 1/2 year spousal Visa
Hi @TechBizToolkit, Unfortunately, the IHS cost discussed in this video is for the duration of the 33/30-month partner visa and does not reflect the total cost that will have to be paid over 5 years. Best regards, The Migrate.org.uk team.
Hi @daveUK1066, The latest update is that, on 30 July 2024, the Secretary of State for the Home Department stated: "To help ensure we reach the right balance and have a solid evidence base for any change, I will commission the MAC to review the financial requirements, in the Family Immigration Rules. The Minimum Income Requirement is currently set at £29,000 and there will be no further changes until the MAC review is complete." So, nothing has been set in stone at this stage. Best regards, The Migrate.org.uk team.
Thanks a lot for providing this information! I am wondering if I have 11 months short-term student visa, can I apply inside the country or should I do it outside the UK?
Hi @juliejaropillo7079, For the vast majority of applications, a mother in law's income cannot be included towards the financial requirement. Rather, it can normally only be included where there are exceptional circumstances. Best regards, The Migrate.org.uk team.
Hi @rkukmedia, Due to the often unfavourable exchange rates used on the online application form payment pages, it is indeed quite misleading. Best regards, The Migrate.org.uk team.

I have a question, can my husband and mother in law combine there income for us to met the requirement?

This is actually quite misleading as most charges are in a deliberately terrible US dollar rate so NONE of the UK Visa Home Office fees are accurate
