- Mr B & I were recently in America as I was invited to teach a plein air workshop in South Carolina. This is a practice paint at one of the places I was teaching the students.... Shem Creek it has wonderful shrimp boats which are the focus of the painting. It was blowing a hoolie (a tropical storm) but our mics worked well and you can hear my commentary on how I built up the painting from start to finish (with bird bonuses!)

Im amazed with the blue on the white boats at the beginning. it's something i can't get right. I was genuinely nervous when you did that and said to myself, "That's way too dark." When looking at the overall painting at the end, did i see the magic white boats appearing and said to myself, "she's done it again"!!!!

Amazing work especially under those conditions. Great commentary as well. Mr. B’s camerawork really makes the video interesting - love how he breaks away to show the scenery and activity and zooms in to show detail in the painting and the subject.

I really enjoyed listening and watching your thought process as you painted this scene. I thought at the beginning the composition looked far too complicated so it was fascinating to watch how you handled it by just painting the shapes and then suddenly it all started to pull together. I loved the muted colours too. You did a grand job. Thank you for sharing it with us.

I have been to Mt. Pleasant, there are some good restaurants there. It’s beautiful a long the coast of South Carolina. I once lived about 2 hrs from there in SC. 🦩🌴🌊🛥️

I would've taken your workshop if I'd have known and I follow Field and Flow, but must've missed any announcements about you (but I didn't know about you back then, so...). Hi Barbara I do use a view Catcher and a homemade viewfinder. They are so helpful for simplifying a busy subject and honing in what’s important! 👍💫😊

Is there a problem traveling by plane with oil paint supplies? Can you carry turps and linseed oil for example?
Hi Lori, you can take oil paints. Put them in a sealed container and and label them artists colours not oil paint. I don’t take linseed / turps I buy it there.
