I got my CDL and am working as a company driver which is good because I am local (shorthaul). My goal is to save money, pay off debt and get experience. Long term I would like to earn more money. I think I will need to get my Tanker, doubles, Hazmat & TWIC card. I think my hesitation to doing OTR is knowing how to run and make money without owing anybody .
I would say over 90% of people in trucking had no ambition or smart to invest in future and take chances on investment. Mot wouldn't even earn over $100,000/year.
My plan is to save money and keep investing in MF, Goldetf, etc.. for next 10-12 years, Then take all that saving and buy a commercial real estate for rental income.
A little off topic,but how do you stay in shape while trucking ? And by the way I start with Crete the 25th, They are starting me with 60 cpm, does that sound about right?
I try and work out 3-4 times a week. A combination of going to the gym and doing body weight exercises and running outside. I also intermittent fast, and do a no heavy carb diet. I don’t eat things like bread, rice, pasta or any refined sugar. I only drink black coffee and water. And that’s great you’re coming to Crete and yes 60 cpm is a really good place to start!
